There's a whole new thread by non sum dignus on Pachamama, covid, Sr Agnes etc., And you say Pachamama was just 'a ghastly mistake'? +
Are you saying that Pachamama worship was merely a personal sin of the members of hierarchy who were there? +
Sg, I am not interested in discussing Pachamama here. It belongs on another thread. I am not fit to judge the personal sins of others. What is your position on Pope Francis? Are you in union with him as head of the Church? .
I strongly suspect you have a specific agenda which you are attempting to promote indirectly, which is s that Pope Francis is not true Pope. Forgive me if I am wrong but I do have this strong impression. You can allay these suspicions at once to rest by confirming that you accept Pope Francis as Pope.. ...do you? A simple yes or no will suffice. (I accept him as Pope with all that that entails. I believe he is the worst Pope in history, but still I accept he is the Pope, God help us)
Padraig, You surely know my stand on this from previous threads. I believe that Benedict is still the Pope. What I don't understand is how a man who is regarded as pope by almost everyone, can drop the title of Vicar of Christ, refuse to genuflect to Christ in the Blessed Sacrament but kneels to kiss the feet of men, place Pachamama on the high altar at St Peter's during Mass, say that Mother Mary must have said in her heart that God lied to her, openly advocates syncretism, etc., etc., be still accepted as .... the Vicar of Christ. +
And that was not why I brought up the matter of obedience to members of the hierarchy who preach an anti Gospel. I don't understand why and how a Catholic can do it. +
I am sorry, I can't have someone on a Catholic forum suggesting that the Pope is not the Pope. This involves automatic excommunication. With a heavy heart I am deleting you from the forum. Prayers for yourself. Spread this poison elsewhere. Bye.
You may think I am too hard sometimes when I boot people of the forum. But I truly hate to do this. I try to promote a free atmosphere of freedom of speech as much as I can. But Catholics can not in good conscience allow a platform for that which opposes and harms the Church. The Church holds that those who say that the Pope is not the Pope are by simple virtue of the fact are at once Excommunicated and Apostate. Sed Anaethema. I have to stand over that. The Good Catholic stands with Peter. I love giving people great freedom in discussion, but there are limits. This is one of them. Tu es Petrus
I liked SgCatholic. I sympathize with she said she didn't understand. Prayers for you, SG, if you're still reading. This article by Robert Siscoe has helped many come to see that Pope Francis is indeed the validly elected Pope of the Catholic Church: https://onepeterfive.com/dogmatic-fact-francis-pope/ It's in two parts. I sympathize with those who struggle with the question because of the mistakes of recent Popes, but it's a dead end. Let us all pray for one another, that we may grow ever stronger in our Catholic Faith, and remain safe in the Barque of Peter at all times. May Jesus and Mary bless us all.
Have you ever considered the possibility that Pope Francis is correct and we are wrong. After all he is the Pope. Maybe he is the new St Francis for our era tuned into reading the signs of the times the climate emergency and migrant crisis. Perhaps, indigenous Pachamama type liturgy is the way forward to fill the pews And if we have women priests and deacons we will help keep women interested in going to Mass. We need to listen to the Holy Spirit more and stop with all this dogmatic stuff because rules stifle the spirit. Synodality is the way forward - let the local churches rule. And more lay participation and less clericalism. Time to change the harsh language in the catechism used against homosexuals as we did with capital punishment. We need to issue and immediate apology to Henry VIII as he should have been granted an annulment. Amoris is the new language of love. If ongoing adultery is forgivable, then why not other forms of loving, long-standing sexual commitment? Martin Luther should be declared a saint and protestants allowed to share Eucharist with us. We all need to become much more relaxed and stop building walls stopping people from entering the sheepfold. Joe Biden is fine. He is in tune with the spirit of dialogue and open borders. He is a Pope Francis Catholic. Less talk of abortion it has nothing to do with religion so enough harsh talk of baby killing. The Church is a broad church a place for all-sorts. Dialogue is our new mantra. We have to discover forgotten greats like Bonino. We have to understand God wills the plurality of religions. God is broader than our divisions. Let the Spirit of Vatican II rule. Role out the reforms. C'mon folks chillax.
"The road is wide that leads to destruction and many are those who are on it..." That road is full of dialogue and unity and tolerance and unicorns and roses---only one problem. "There is a way that seems good to a man but its end is destruction" St John Bosco' s dream! The sudden unforeseen drop into the chasm. Chillax all right.
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. Matthew 13:24-30,
Probably 20% or less of Catholics possess enough formation and knowledge to logically evaluate the current Crisis. Even among those who hold unfavorable opinions about Pope Francis, conclusions vary. We need to live the Faith, study the Faith, and share the Faith. Knowledge of unfaithful prelates keeps us on our toes, but virtue, mercy, and love should be at the center of our lives. Be preoccupied with the Gospel and reject the devil's lies. Safe in the Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!
I was very sorry to learn that SgC was banned. If any member has an email address or phone number for her, I would appreciate it if they would share it with me by pm. I did have contact with her around the time she visited Ireland - can't recall whether it was by phone or email - but I can't find the details now. If you do have a means of contacting her but would prefer not to pass on the information, could you ask her to send me a text message if she still has my 'phone number.
When did this happen? It must have been when I was fasting from the internet for 2 weeks. If you are able to contact her Dolours please let me know.ETA: just found the posts. Now I see what happened. I'm very sad.
I am deeply sad over this Padraig but I understand where you are coming from. I recently read Lay Siege to Heaven about Catherine of Siena. It used many of her writings. People in her time said the Pope wasn't the Pope because of things he did including appointing very bad Cardinals and corrupt clergy. And he left Rome for Avignon. But she fiercely defended his office as Pope and wrote letter after letter to him urging him to be a faithful successor to Peter. She gave short shrift to those who said his actions proved he wasn't Pope. I remember Malachi Martin warning that if the Luciferians "got a Pope" it would be the ultimate excruciating test of faith for Catholics. He said then that it would shred the faith of even Catherine of Siena and Teresa if Avila. The devil is so subtle and serpentine. Only Our Lady can help us to make our way through this swamp.
