My father, who you might remember was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and given 6 months to live, lasted almost 6 years... Mystifying the medical staff (to such an extent, he became known as the miracle man at the hospital) is testimony to this. When asked how he managed to continue to live, he would merely say, "it's the power of prayer".

It is a great, great comfort to know that not one of will die a second before our time nor a second after.

But it is a wonderful and Great Grace to die a Provided for Death. That we have a priest and the Sacraments at Hand of our Passing and good people to pray for us both before and after.

Catholics used to pray that they might be speared an, 'Unprovided for Death'. I have not heard of this for the longest time.

One of the most wonderful Marian Promises is that she will aid us at the Hour of Our Death. May we, all of us, die gazing into the smiling Face of the Theotokos.

Just had another look at this original post. It, surely unintentionally (!), contains a conditional rebuke of God.

Firstly, God can do His creating in whatever way He wants and it's impertinent of any of His unimaginably less great creatures to question His methodology.

Secondly, it is not logical to say that God is somehow less great merely because He created only one inhabited world. Surely, it is all the more indicative of His greatness that He should create such an enormous universe in order to generate such a miserable life-form as ourselves on just one tiny planet? All that (apparent) redundancy. One must not forget that God doesn't have to worry about matters of economy. He is unlimited and can be as extravagant as He wants. Extravagance is a human weakness because it implies a waste of limited resources-doesn't apply to God.

    Good post.
Fr Ripperger said that God loves variety. One only has to look at the insect world He created. :D

I'd say He loves this insect variety a lot more than we do!
