Just saw the funniest cartoon on a Twitter feed. I'm not on Twitter--just lurk--so couldn't figure out how to link it. It shows a very fierce faced St Patrick driving a van and a bunch of snakes in the back seat yelling "I have to go to the bathroom!" And "are we there yet?" and "I'm car sick!" Etc. Laughed out loud. Hope someone techy can find it and post it. So funny.
I love a good homily. The priest at mass at St Patrick's here was from Liverpool. He is a friend of the parish priest and they were both in seminary together. He said in the mornings there they used to pray a Holy Hour every morning in Church facing each other. He said his holy hour was not very good, that his mind wandered and he was a jealous of his friend who looked so prayerful and holy. One day he mentioned to his friend how much he could pray as well as he did. But his friend replied that he was very jealous of him because he seemed to pray. The Father mentioned he had a bipolar disorder which caused his to have periods of deep depression. I could see the pain in his face, the suffering. I love people being authentic like this; being open and honest. Apparently the Padre Pio said that the worst sin we could commit is hypocrisy. St Patrick was the opposite of this. He has so very honest and straightforward. They had a relic there from the 1100's a silver reliquary of a hand and arm. It contained a portion of the arm of St Padraig taken from his grave. It was beautifully surrounded with shamrocks. Talking about snakes see here:
Funny I tried to post something there and it would not post. I felt a little guilty about posting it as it refers two named priests. As soon as I removed their names and pictures it posted right away. I must try and remain charitable.
Yes, they do have these kids brainwashed. They’ve been very effective at getting the youth...they are being very proactive and not getting much pushback either. Pray harder....
This library drag queen thing is happening all over. They openly admit that they are grooming children. Elementary schools are routinely feeding our children the liberal global agenda. Most parents either are not aware, or don’t care enough to do anything about it.
Yes. I totally agree. Ireland has succumbed. Ireland is fallen. I was at Patrick's Day mass in a small town in the Inishowen Penninsula. The Chapel was only about 1/4 full. I remember it not too long ago bursting with people. Not so now. The bars however on Paddy's day and night were jam-packed. Says it all, really. It's so very sad.
Well, Donegal is the most northern county in Ireland (and also the most beautiful) and it was the only county to vote against the introduction of abortion... God bless Donegal.
... Our government and politicians (both North and South) have sold the collective soul of Ireland. A drive thru the Irish countryside and you'll see big beautiful houses. Fancy cars. These have replaced our more modest homes and modes of transport. We revel in trips abroad. Our weddings have become obscene, lavish 3-day events. We have 'baby showers' now. Christenings and first communions have become prestigious social events. Violence, drugs and alcohol are on the rampage. Marriages are failing at an unprecedented rate. Abortion is here. Gay marriage is here. The family is being annilihated. And with it morals, values, and my Lords church. Our media recurrently brainwashes us. They don't even play music on the radio anymore; they play noise. There are few vocations to the priesthood. Respect for neighbour is diminished, particularly among the young. They attack anything that represents my Lord. They mock Our Lady. Group-think is prevalent and secularist and woe to he that doesn't tow the agenda. There is much to be worried about with regard Ireland. In response, I have been slow to act. As a family we have adopted the rosary. We attend Mass Sundays. We visit the adoration Chapel together. PS. I know I'm going to heaven because I say the 7 sorrows rosary daily; and Our Lady promised heaven to those that would proprogate this prayer daily. But we are among the very few. The Chastisement is coming to Ireland. It is due. It is what we deserve. It is just. It is also very, very sad that it has come to this, because Ireland is the most beautiful place on earth. It is truly stunning in its beauty; its mountains, its rivers, its history, its martyrs.... its almost lost faith. On behalf of my family we accept whatever punishment my Lord deems fit to send.
I sent it to my cousin and she replied in minutes that she was the one who had to go to the bathroom.
Although it is true too we get the leaders we deserve. This is especially true in a Democracy where we get to elect them. If we look at Scripture the people were always held in the same Judgement as the Leaders. In other words the Kings did not only get zapped the people did too. In a way looking at our Leaders is like looking in some horrible mirror. All I can say if we look at our Leaders here in Ireland we have turned into horrible monsters.
Beth, I agree but it has been this way in the USA for a long time, I believe. As long as I can remember Saint Patrick's Day has been synonymous with drinking and getting drunk and since my paternal grandfather and my father both struggled with alcoholism I never much went in for that sort of Saint Patrick's Day celebration. In fact, I steered away from it. My mother being from Northern Ireland would celebrate it with us by making corned beef and cabbage but she would always tell us that she never ate that growing up and that tripe was the meal that she remembered eating the most in her youth. What I have been doing for the past few years to combat this lack of reference to Saint Patrick and to other saints, when I text Happy Saint (whomever's) Day I type out Saint instead of the using the abbreviation. I realize that it is just a small thing but take for instance Saint Valentine's Day and look at what has happened to that day, the St./Saint has been completely dropped. So instead I wish everyone a Happy Saint Valentine's Day hoping that this might catch on although I doubt it.
