You know you can get tomato sauce, or tomato ketchup in a bottle to put on food. Well HP sauce is a brown sauce, it is very strong and adds a bite to food for those who like extra flavour. You can also get Daddies sauce, maybe they have that in your county, and it is similar to HP sauce. HP is a brand name.
https://www.englishteastore.com/hps...erm=4581046479371385&utm_content=Food & Candy It almost seems like worcestershire sauce, judging by the ingredients, briefly
In flavour there is a comparison. However Worcestershire sauce is as thin as water, while HP sauce is thick and creamy, like Heinz salad cream in texture.
Sometimes I wonder how there are any Irish left in Ireland. They even have a St Patrick's Day Parade in Moscow, complete with Irish Wolfhounds.
Thanks for that HH. I had never heard of scrapple. Now I have something new to try. The Scottish version of black pudding is made with pig’s blood and I think it’s the best. I bought some Dutch black pudding yesterday from the Dutch Cheese shop which also sells a German version. We also have a few NZ versions. More cafes here are now offering it with breakfast. Two other favourites in Scottish fry ups are Lorne sausages and potato scones. Makes me homesick just thinking of them. As youngsters we found fry ups a great remedy for hangovers and the hunger of drink - you know that hunger that drives you to the kebab shop on the way home from the pub. Haven’t done that for many years. Fun times.
Yes black pudding is made with pigs blood I used to make it when I was a butchers apprentice I think its what Americans call blood sausage..
