Thank you for sharing your dream Padraig. There are three or four Priests from my lifetime who have passed on, and I was left with particular memories after their passing. These are from a longer list of deceased Priests I have known over the years and remember in prayer.

I will name the first Priest God allowed me to know about who went straight to Heaven. His name was Father Bernard Mead. The morning he died, I woke up hearing a choir of angels singing "Come then beloved of my soul" That is all I can remember of the words. It seemed to me there was a stairway going all the way up to the Heavens. I saw vaguely a man who reminded me of Father Mead walking up the stairs, puzzled about what all the fuss was about. On either side of him on every step was an angel, the angels were playing drums to a rhythm I can still recall, and the male choir of angels were all singing the words I have put in quotes.

The impression I got was Father Mead had not yet realised just how highly he was regarded in Heaven. He was just about to find out, but I was not allowed to see past the point when he was climbing the stairs, puzzled at the reception he was getting. It was extraordinary. I was puzzled because at that point in time I was not aware Fr. Mead had died.

Later that morning I got a telephone call to say Father Mead had died, he was a young Priest. He died suddenly. I will save the other two or my post will be too long, neither of whom I believe went straight to Heaven. But I do believe both were saved.

From the prayers of Divine Mercy Chaplet which we say from Good Friday to the Sunday after Easter; for the rest of the year I have for a few years now dedicated the second decade of the Divine Mercy Chaplet to all the Consecrated souls, (living Priests) and also those called into God's service in our day. The latter being those who are genuinely called to share their testimonies, like Padraig, Marino Restreppo, the Medjugorje visionaries, Garabandal visionaries, Howard Storm, Roy Schoeman, Sister Sasagawa and a number of others, just some mentioned here for an example of how awesome God truly is in keeping us focused on our real mission on this earth.

How else can we thank God, only by remembering to ask His Mercy on those departed souls who worked for His Kingdom on earth.

At Holy Mass, I try to remember every Parish Priest from my baptism to date who has already died, asking God to have mercy on their souls. This is my way of showing gratitude for their service and gratitude to God, acknowledging His goodness to us through His Ministers.

    What a wonderful post Julia.
Your dream about Fr Mead is very powerful. I have a list of priests that I pray for every night who I have known through my life and have died. Especially the priest who baptized me, heard my first confession, gave me my first Holy Communion. The bishop who confirmed me. The priet who celebrated our wedding and so on. Every priest I can remember and all the priests in purgatory who have been forgotten. My list is long. Also all the nuns who taught me and the ones here that I hsve come to know over the years.
I really like how you've set up your prayers at Mass. Great idea.

You are so right...they think we are over the top....until they get their eyes opened. Always error on the side of caution regardless.

  9. Thanks HH - as you can see I already have the words and written music - I was hoping to hear the melody preferably sung but played would be fine. A friend of mine will record his playing of it on his piano. Thank you for trying.
