HH I hope you don't mind me answering. I follow Desmond on Facebook. His last update was needing an aortic valve replacement and a TAVR replacement but before that happens he has to have CT scan of kidney.
I am glad you answered. I am sorry that he is having such drastic health issues. Thanks for the update. I’ll keep praying.
Thanks, Brian. I like that Desmond is expressing hope. Will keep praying. I just saw on the news that a light plane made an emergency landing on the road on Rt 66 near Front Royal. No one hurt.
Today is the first time I read the above, Brian. I respect the good bishop deeply. Can you explain whom you believe the holy innocents of our time are? O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
I wish I knew exactly, but from the context I think he was referring (in part at least) to the young children of the growing number of large faithful traditional Catholic families in our age, and their parents who are making real sacrifices to raise them in the Faith. He was there for a TLM in Steubenville and our host was and is a very traditional professor of systematic theology with a large and still growing family.
Thanks Brian. While I’m not part of TLM, I am “conservative” (if that is the right term) - we do our best to both preach and act with our kids and grandkids to be faithful- attend Mass (daily as much as possible), confession (weekly if possible), daily prayers especially Rosary , fasting, alms. With that said, they are all in different stages of their faith journey. And no doubt the “world” tells them the opposite of what we do. Unfortunately, they also receive mixed messages even from the Church. So, in the end, we turn it over to God. Heck, He knows me and saw where I was at their ages- a work still in process. Praying to have the perseverance and strength for the battles ahead. Peace.
Hi Brian. I'm pretty sure I know what Bishop Schneider was referring to. The Holy Innocents in salvation history refers to King Herod's slaughter of the innocent children in Bethlehem. So, the equivalent in our time would be democratic governments [not just one "King" but all the citizens who vote for politicians who vote to legalize abortion] authorizing the slaughter of innocent children by abortion.
There are areas in my life which require repentance and amendment- just ask my wife! What was the song? Day by Day until I'm called before the Lord. May His Mercy purify me!

I feel the same way. I remember vividly one time years ago when I mentioned to a friend that I felt the Lord was currently convicting me. He kind of smiled and he said that the Lord is ALWAYS convicting us. He’s right. God’s holiness is convicting.
The reason God was upset with the Israelites when they asked for a King, but granted it anyways is because He was insulted that they did not realize the plan of Salvation and they did not ask God to be their King, had they done so the Virgin birth would have taken place after the time of the Judges and the Messiah would have come immediately. Perhaps history would have played out differently, because it was prophesied to Abraham that his descendants would be Kings. However, all things work towards the Glory of God, and so History happened the way it did. The prophesies of the Great Monarch follow a similar path, for the one that will be chosen understands that he is nothing but a sinner, and the real King of France and humanity is Jesus Christ. This is why he gives up his crown on the mount of Olives. It is a sign of respect that Authority is given by God. So, a poor orphan man is born with a destiny, and once that destiny is achieved, he relinquishes the honors bestowed on him, and he dies as he was born, just a poor orphan man. He may be the great king of destiny, but the King of Kings is his ultimate destiny, as it is with all of us, no matter what are state in life is.
