I agree but for one thing. They were not just prepared to fight to the last man, they equipped schoolchildren with batons and expected them and every other citizen no matter how old or young to attack US soldiers as they landed! The war party in Japan was prepared to see every person whatever age or status die to defend their country's 'honour'. The US (and Australians and British) were fighting an enemy whose customs and culture gave a 'glorious death' primacy over all other ends to life. The many thousands of allied prisoners of war and civilian internees living and labouring in appalling conditions would all have been murdered if a quick surrender had not been obtained.

There is strong opinion that the Soviets invading Manchuria, entering the Pacific theatre, was a far more forceful contribution to Japan’s surrender than either atomic bomb. Japan was more afraid of Russia than the effects seen in Hiroshima, as multiple cities had already been extensively firebombed.

    SteveD,

I stand corrected about the largest city, but you and I have different sources for the size of the Catholic population. Concerning a Freemason's attitude toward the Church, it is a fact that Catholics who have defected from Freemasonry, who were in the higher degrees, share that the infiltration of the Catholic Church by Freemasons serves the purpose of Her ultimate destruction. A Freemason can certainly know and love individual Catholics, but they, especially the higher-ups, are under demonic influence. The one time I visited a high ranking Mason in a hospital while a Catholic chaplain: his final words to me were, "You are the enemy."

I love my country and the servicemen and servicewomen who fought in the Pacific, and by no means do I wish to denigrate them, nor would I ever claim the Japanese held the higher moral ground. I will say that the fire-bombing of several cities in Germany and the decision to drop the second atomic bomb after realizing the impact on Hiroshima, was heartless in my opinion.

Thank God America did as much as they did to help both Germany and Japan recover, but in no way in my mind can such mass destruction of human life ever be justified. The fact that America has contributed to the slaughter of millions via abortion tears at my heart, also, but on a much larger scale. Unfortunately now, the America I once loved no longer exists.

God, be merciful and return us Godliness.

Perhaps you would like to share your own source for the estimated Catholic population of Nagasaki in 1945 as it must be a gross over-estimate if you believe that it was the largest of any city in Asia at the time.

I am glad that you include the phrase 'In my mind' because in my mind (and in the minds of many others) Truman had no other course without creating even greater loss of life. He was given the estimate of 1 million US soldiers lost to take the main islands. The Japanese 'war party' did not want to surrender after Hiroshima even though they were warned that such bombing would continue if they did not, what was the US to do? In addition to the estimated 1 million US deaths, there would have been many millions of Japanese deaths either through conventional bombing or combat as the US fought its way through Japan.

If your research discloses that Truman changed the second target in mid-flight as you imply (which is generally attributed to bad weather over the original target area and a decision by the pilot and crew) then this would be of great interest to many, including myself. I'm sure that there are, and were, anti-Catholic sentiments among some freemasons in English-speaking freemasonry but virulent bias is normally attributed only to the separately governed European continental lodges which have a history of hatred for the Church. The Church has actually differentiated between the two in some of its pronouncements on the subject.

FILE – Tourists ride classic convertible cars on the Malecon beside the U.S. Embassy in Havana, Cuba, on Oct. 3, 2017. The State Department is preparing to compensate victims of mysterious brain injuries colloquially known as “Havana Syndrome” with six-figure payments, according to officials and a congressional aide. Current and former State Department staff and their families who suffered from “qualifying injuries” since cases were first reported among U.S. embassy personnel in Cuba in 2016 will receive payments of between roughly $100,000 and $200,000 each, the officials and aide said. A newly released declassified report by a panel of experts has concluded that “Havana syndrome” is not a naturally occurring health phenomenon, leaving open the possibility that the maladies that have struck diplomats across the globe are the result of the use of an unknown weapon.

The report, which was obtained by Salon via a public records request, was prepared for the Director of National Intelligence by a panel of experts who reviewed the origins of anomalous health incidents (AHI) that have affected officials around the world.

The conclusion that the health incidents could plausibly be the results of some type of electromagnetic energy devices comes after the U.S. intelligence community concluded earlier this month that the health incidents were unlikely to be the result of interference by a foreign government.

The report from the intelligence community said it was unlikely that a foreign power had a weapon that was capable of inflicting such effects.

The newly released report, however, said that “sources exist that could generate the required stimuli, are concealable, and have moderate power requirements.”

I always thought Cuba had -ironically- better mental health and biological health because its so poor it doesnt have G5\ electro-smog, etc
however Cuba leads the suicide ratio in all latam because of (well...no need to explain. a doctor earns the same as a street sweeper and everyone gets a carton of how much bread and rice they get every month)
Batista was incompetent and a bit of a grotesque figure, but he didnt really order massacres and the communist party of cuba wasnt even banned.
:cautious::cautious: in school here we all learn that "batista made cuba a prostitution hub for tourists " yeah...as opposed to whats currently happening there

Batista’s Cuba was still much nicer than a Las Vegas or Acapulco.
