I have some of his other books also. He's certainly got some interesting ideas. His theory of morphic fields / resonance caught my attention when I first read about it many years ago. I attended a talk he gave here in Dublin about ten years, around the time the Science Delusion was published.
Occam's Razor seems enough to debunk it? why needlessly add universes when one is enough? (this also applies to mormonism eternally retroactive adam-gods) the multiverse model is solipsistic since only YOU live forever in your Everett Branch. while everyone else dies at least until some 40-century AI resurrects everyone you loved. Multiverse model of physics is rather nightmarish, I dont know why people choose to believe in. I read a couple of blogs by people worrying it was real - it was a worry not a hope for them!
Father Jaki demolished the notion with a pinch of philosophy. By definition, if you discovered these putative other universes, they would automatically cease to be other universes and become part of the one bigger universe. In other words, they only exist as long as their existence hasn't been found!
Thanks for highlighting Father Jaki's work. I was looking online to learn some more about him and noticed he was born in Győr, Hungary. It wasn't too long ago that I first heard of the miraculous image of Our Lady of Győr which is in the Cathedral there and was brought over from Ireland by Bishop Walter Lynch who was exiled in the 1600s.
I have been interested in this and many other threads. Apologies for not engaging more. I guess I've returned to my default lurking mode having run out of steam. I am suffering from lack of energy, tiredness, general spiritual dryness, loneliness. I lost someone whom I have been close to recently. This was the last in the previous generation that I knew to depart this earthly coil. And so I am left on my own now. I always got on better with the elder folk. But they are all gone, those that I had relationships with. That plus lack of money is responsible for my living a very quiet life. Ideal for a life of prayer and sanctity. However, my spiritual fervour seems to have evaporated. I guess this should be in the Little Gethsemani thread. Prayers would be appreciated. But yes, I remember 2 videos I watched conerning Our Lady of Gyor.
