Thank you forum, and forum members, just for being here tonight. I needed the peace that ye bring to the world, and that's what I got. May the bickering all be in the past and the peace of God reign. Thank God for ye.
I give thanks, praise, and glory to God tonight. Driving home from adoration tonight the roads were really, really bad. I knew we were going to get maybe an inch of snow, and then it would turn to rain. So we had gotten the snow and the rain had started. The plows surprisingly did not keep up with the snow on the highway, and it the snow was packed down an inch and turning slushy and starting to freeze. No one was going fast and it was a white knuckle drive as you could not even see the lane markers on the road. I was in the far right lane and going slow, but started to spin and anyone who has spun in the snow knows that there is really nothing you can do...you just start going around and it is like slow motion. I spun 360 degrees across 2 highway lanes in a small pack of cars. I have no idea how I did not hit anyone. I can still see an suv I just missed with my hood who was in the far left lane. It was all slow motion. And I don't know how I did not cause any other car to hit the others as they tried to get out of my way. Wow. I am blessed. And I meant to post my gratitude to God about a month ago when I spun 180 degrees on a two way street, stopping my spin just short of a telephone pole. Again I was going slow but I don't think the road had been treated yet. Thanks be to God He guided my car out of harms way. I am actually a pretty good driver and in over 20 years of New England winter driving had only spun like this one other time and that was last year. So, I have been putting off getting some rear tires because of low finances...but now I KNOW I need to get some now. Thank you Jesus for saving my butt twice this winter!!
I'd bet most of us can think of more than a few times in our lives that we "felt' that "Someone was watching over us". I ask The Lord daily to reinforce my Guardian Angel, DA, 'cause were getting old ... Ya Know! GOD SAVE ALL HERE!! PS: Don't scrimp on tires & brakes. Check "Consumer Reports". Some of the best tires are not the most expensive!!
Thanks, someone must have been praying for me, I fell asleep at the wheel drving home on the motorway, but woke up just in time. Thanks some kind soul.
I see Cathy had a similiar experience. Driving can be dangerous, but camping can be exhausting. I think I am going to sleep for a week.
Thanks be to God Padraig that you woke up just in time...scary!!!! Load up on the caffeine my friend...coffee, coke, a candy bar...whatever it takes! your angels were watching over you, that's for sure!! I quite literally got my new tires yesterday, as we have more snow coming on Sunday. when I heard the weather I called the tire place as it happened to be my day off, and I figured they would need to order them since they have always had to order my tires, since my car is small and old and I guess my tires uncommon. But, he happened to have 2 of my tires in stock...on sale...and he had plenty of openings so come on down...so I did...just in time for the snow
i want to thank all of you who are praying for me and have given me such wonderful tips about holy salts, water and prayers. it has helped me immensely just knowing that others do care. i have used the holy water at work and i am awaiting the salts to arrive thanks to andree and beth. the holy water gives me strength and peace to go on with my day. i can only imagine what the salts will do to protect me and the others at work who are experiencing their own pains. i leave my holy water bottle in my desk and carry one in my purse. i also have one in my car. i must say it is a wonderful thing. about a week ago i had parked my car in parking garage at work and in my hurry to get to work i shut my car door but it would not latch! i turned back and i slammed it two more times and it just would not engage. i decided to lock the door manually from the inside and as i swung the door open to push the button down i noticed my keys were in the ignition! almost locked them in the car. i was so happy that i kissed the holy water bottle and made the sign of the cross. it must have been everyone's prayers and the holy water that saved the day.
I truly believe in "nudges" from my Guardian Angel!! I call him DA ... D's Angel ... and I am trying, very hard, to look for those nudges as I approach old age and all that ...... ....... Looking for DA's nudges reminds me of the old R/R Crossing signs; Stop, Look & Listen GOD SAVE ALL HERE
yes crew dog! your right on with our guardian angels prompting us! always being there to protect. this reminds me of also in praying for the bullys guardian angels to change their behavior. this tip came from julia. i read and re-read her post because it encourages me. well im off for now because im making banana bread!
Thank you for all your prayers. Miami did not get a direct hit from Hurricane Irma. Minor things like no electricity or phone. But the Florida Keys need all our prayers---destruction everywhere and lost of lives.
We often forget that there are 4 types of prayer.( I know I do) Adoration Contrition Petition and Thanksgiving Which one do you pray the most? I often say. Oh My God, please be merciful to me a sinner. I should be more mindful to thank Our Lord more. May the heart of Jesus, present in the Most Blessed Sacrament, be praised, adored, and loved with grateful affection, at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time. Amen. Thank you Jesus.
Good observations. We must all be the leper who came back to say Thank you. I try to pray prayers of gratitude and praise. It is especially easy at Adoration because just being there is a cause of gratitude and thanks. But I have begun to discover that Our Lord never fails us. EVERYTHING is grace. Even the seemingly horrible if we trust Him and believe in His Love then we know it is for our best good. I have learned this the hard way but I am so grateful for the grace to know it.
Yes Arantxa. We must pray for the Keys. But so grateful you escaped. Our cousin in the Keys lost her house but at least she is all right thanks be to God.
