I see this is a very old post but I have to give a shout out to my Guardian Angel who has put up with a LOT and has faithfully protected and guided me safely back to the Barque of Peter and helped me anchor there ever since.
Say the Our Father slowly and as you do so count how many phrases are prayers of petition. I got up to 8.
I wanted to come and share thanksgiving to God for a new hope after surgery on Tuesday 20th October 2020. It turned out one of the stints that had been used to keep my kidneys working had slipped between March when it was inserted, and August when a scan showed it was displaced. It was in the bladder! I had been feeling particularly under the weather for months, and though this must be it. Once again at the point of anaesthetic I remembered to say "Into Thy Hands, I commend my spirit," incase I did not wake up. It is called a practice run for the big day, like Jesus did when He was dying. But still here. And it turns out the kidneys have not been working properly for months hence feeling unwell. Now on day three, and hoping to continue to regain a bit more energy and be able to clean up the house a bit better with this improvement if it continues. I have to wait 10 days incase there were any nips or scratches internally when the procedure was done. I could be up the ladder again and out weeding again before Christmas. Hehehe. Praise God.
Gratitude to God, Jesus and Mary is an antidote for many things. I try to thank God constantly during the day and it helps with many issues that may arise. They say God is a God that likes to be thanked. As far as I know Jesus said to Saint Faustina that the more He is thanked the more graces He gives.
Oh my goodness, Julia you must have suffered feeling ill for so long. Praying that your recovery goes well and you will be back to your weeding very soon .
First of all, I assure all that I am of sound mind as I preface this! I am sitting before the Blessed Sacrament. I was about to leave after having prayed a fervent Rosary for my children’s souls. When I checked my phone, I saw a few new notifications there for this forum, and so I decided to read them. They led me here to the this “ThankfuLness” thread. I was led to reading a letter from a mom who lost her son tragically .I was riveted by her telling us that she prayed so much for her children’s salvation consistently. Well, I took that as a confirmation before realizing that I was reading a post from 2013! I was even liking some of the posts there, LOL! But, that glitch made it even more significant because God used something of someone’s past to reach me in the here and now! But now the really wild part: I was about to post my thankfulness for God’s attentiveness to me when words for suggested messaging (it’s an iPhone) showed up in the space above the keyboard. That’’s normal. Well, the first word was “Jesus”. That’s never happened before, so it had my immediate attention. That’s when I just started pressing and went with it as the word popped up (I went back to capitalize His Holy Name out of proper respect and punctuate because that was left to me): “Jesus Christ, Who (is) a Great Person—and He has worked with me all this time—He will ever be with me when I have a minute to talk to Him about the things I cannot do.” So, not crazy. Not trying to be silly. Just saying, “Thank you, Guardian Dear! I REALLY needed this today!”
I pray every day for all intentions on the forum and on Monday went to Mother of Sorrows shrine and prayed and lit a 5 day candle for all here. Julia better days ahead. What a faith filled person you are. It helps my faith as well. I want to thank God and our Guardian Angels for protection and helping us while driving .
Praise be to God, for He was able to speak directly to your heart, just when you needed Him the most. And we remembered Saint John Paul today. Yes, like you I was looking for a thanksgiving or gratitude thread to post on and found myself putting likes on some posts. I saw the letter from a mum posted in 2013 about the sad loss of her young son, and how God comforted her. I confess it brought a tear to my eye.
Thank you RoryRory. We often forget to thank our wonderful Guardian Angels who are always 'on call' to protect and guide us.
From January 2, 2013 on page 1 where I was directed automatically when checking notification. It was not the member’s experience but a letter from someone else he had shared.
