Please pray for my dog Raleigh if you would be so kind!

It is crazy. We never had pets in my home growing up so I had no real understanding of the fellowship and love with pets. And like your beautiful dog rabbits are really very sociable and affectionate. Ours was a free roaming bunny and he had the run of the house. He qasmpart of thr furniture and family for sure.

 

I’m so sorry for your loss and pray for consolation for your family. The loss is acute and will always remain, although it will not be as intense.

Vet is pretty sure he has Vestibular Disease which thankfully nearly always resolves itself in a few weeks. He gave him some anti nausea meds that will help also the vertigo he is experiencing. Thursday we are doing xrays and bloodwork to rule out tumors or spinal injuries or infection. He had a good day and although still walks like a drunk he is very comfortable and able to take short walks in the sunshine.

Yes Raleigh has a wonderful pedigree with all Best in Show Champions for parents and relations. I do show him in Conformation but just for fun. My breed is Newfs and I've been raising and showing Newfoundlands for about 20 years but I always keep a Golden with me. Goldens are filled with joy and all creatures that meet Raleigh love him including the barn cats! He is a loving friend to all.

Thank you all so much. I know it's working! He is improving more every day. Tomorrow he gets his diagnostic tests and praying it rules out anything terminal like cancer.

Tests today and praise God nothing terminal! He has a tick borne disease called Anaplasmosis which is what is making him sick, and also a pinched nerve in his neck from an injury and some arthritis in his back. He should start to recover quickly now on the antibiotics. Thank you all so much for your prayers!!

An update on my Raleigh. We found out that he had a pinched nerve in his neck and also Anaplasmosis, a tick disease and have been treating these and I felt he was slowly but surely getting better. He stopped eating yesterday and can no longer walk. He's kind of in the same rut as when I first posted. I think this time he is dying. We have tried everything and treatment we can think of.....he has not had an easy time the past six weeks although he was able to take longer walks and even jog every day. He actually jogged better than he could walk and after his neck healed I had to take the golf cart as I can't jog myself with my fused ankles. He loved it, jogging as far as he was able, sniffing all the neighbor dogs along the way and then I would give him a ride home when he got tired. But anyway, he went down fast again and we don't know why. If you could pray a little prayer that he either passes this time or recovers I would appreciate it. He's still a young dog and they cannot find anything terminal like cancer or organ failure or tumors so I'm stumped and don't want to just put him down if he is going to get better again. He's home here with me getting syringes of water and broth, and doesn't seem to be in pain.

When I came back from Turkey mine was in a bad way, upset, very sick, not eating and one morning when I was walking he acted drunk and nearly fell over a few times. I think he got Parvo from the kennels, although already immunised. Now he is good as new. Amazing.

Thank you all! I just put a call into my vet who is open a few hours this morning. I want to try a round of prednizone as a last resort and is one thing we haven't tried yet.

 

Thanks Padraig! Your dog is how Raleigh has been acting. Has a hard time with balance except when jogging is perfect! So strange. I know I can't leave my Newfs as they too get so stressed out they make themselves sick! When I was in the hospital and my Aunt who lived here was caring for them she said they just stared out the window looking for me and wouldn't eat. ....
