Conduct your life and interactions with your boyfriend in ways that highlight modesty and chastity. A lived faith points to the certainty of the True Faith. :):coffee:

Just wanted to give you an overdue update. It was an ugly breakup back in August. I'm glad he's out of he picture. I pray she finds a good Catholic guy.

Same heart and same mind united in the True Faith is absolutely necessary to have a flourishing marriage. Thank you Jesus for the gift of Geralyn. May Rain's daughter be so blest with a faithful husband!:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::coffee:

I just saw this thread and thought to myself since I had also dated a Baptist when I was young. It was very difficult to navigate through our relationship because of the differences in faith and we also went through a nasty heartbreak. My heart goes out to her. Now one of my first questions when I start seeing someone is what religion do they espouse. I didn’t like being always in the defense mode of my faith which at the time was very weak. However the good thing that came from it was that I really started exploring exactly what the Faith is and if I agreed with it. I found listening to Scott Hahn and reading his books really helped Along with so many other religious books. While I didn’t remain faithful to the Church for a lot of years after, God rewarded my work in trying to find him - He sent His Mom after me and I didn’t even feel all that close with her before as I too had some issues with Her. But She is a gentle and loving Mother and pointed me to Her Son (specifically Our Lady of Perpetual Help) in that picture you see her presenting Her Son and looking at you to assist Him as the Angels show the weapons of His Passion. I now love her dearly and am more faithful to Her Son, Our Father and Her Spouse than I ever would have been had I not been in the relationship in the first place. I am still far from perfect and still seeking but I know God will come after the 99 to find me. I trust in His love, His Mercy and His Mother’s patience in helping me along my journey.

God bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and bring you His Peace.

This has been a heartfelt thread. Very hopeful.
If I may change the tone, sometimes a girl has to kiss a few frogs until she finds the prince.;)

In French: faire marcher les garçons sans pleurer.
Keep walking through the guys without crying.
That saying always stuck in my mind.

I don't know if my daughter is still visiting the forum, but encouraging words. Thanks all. In a way I'm grateful this guy came into her life because similar to Ananchal his challenges to the faith made her read more about Catholicism. She was able to hold her own in their conversations. She thought he might be warming up to the idea when he wrote song about my daughter and in the refrain he mentioned how his girlfriend had a statue of Mary on her dresser. It's was a nice statue. Like two feet tall. Not cheap.

When I listened to the song, I didn't take it as him warming up to Mother Mary. I sensed he was expressing the statue sort of bothered him.

Regardless, she was still having all around reservations about him. Not just the religious stuff.

Fast forward a few weeks. He was at her apartment. Her two roommates were gone. They had an argument. She had already decided to break up with him, but was looking for the right moment. She decided this was the right moment and told him so. He refused to leave the apartment. He wrestled her phone away from her, went up to her room, and smashed the statue of the Virgin Mary. He had plenty of other smashable things, so this was a very deliberate choice. Fortunately, he didn't hurt my daughter and the statue took the brunt of his wrath. She eventually got her phone back and called the police. He promptly left. When he tried to call her back, the police officer answered. "Hello Joe. This is Officer Scott." He promptly hung up and has left her alone since.

(Joe isn't his actual name. I changed it for privacy purposes)

Kids. We never stop worrying about them for good reason!

Well thank God it's all done and dusted now. :)

Perhaps the statue breaking thing was for the best. It gives considerable closure. Good coming from evil.

How terrible! Thanks be to God for getting her out of that relationship, and to Mary for taking the brunt of that man's fury.
