Here's an update. Last night when I arrived at the ICU, my friend's dad was there and we got to talking about religious things. He is a Baptist. Nonetheless I dared to ask how he'd feel about having a Catholic priest give her the last rites, pointing out Wendy's Catholic roots on her mother's side. Her father said he was fine with her receiving this sacrament. I was floored when he came right out and said Wendy would want this. So after obtaining the go ahead from her dad, at the first opportunity I talked to her nurses about it. One of the nurses turned out to be a Catholic, so she worked extra hard to make it happen. She just called me a little while ago to let me know there was a priest in Wendy's room giving her the Last Rites. Even though her dad doesn't understand the great gift his daughter just received, he was given the grace to let it happen. Thanks for all of your prayers, members of the Mother of God forum! God is awesome.

Deanna you remind me of the words of St James: James 5:20 Remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. A wonderful promise. So many priests have astonishing stories of death bed conversions. Fulton Sheen had loads. Anyway offering up Mass and prayers for Wendy this morning. May she give purgatory a miss and fly right on home to heaven.
