Not many countries have capitulated to the extent that Ireland has. And so quickly.

I don't know if it was rabid materialism; immigration and the associated dilution of the faith, the press amplifying and re-amplifying the 'mistakes' of the clergy and ditto with the mother and baby homes; 'equality' laws...
    Who knows!

Though I do know that the media played a significant role.

All the same, shame on we Irish.

I picked this up at the library today. :D Begin reading tonight.

Would love to visit the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Paris, but getting there is as easy as swimming to Jupiter for me. SacredHeartFrance.jpg

The example of Madame Elisabeth of France: "Adorable Heart of Jesus, in recognition of Your infinite charity, I give you my heart."

    Please read her prayers

I first read about Princess Elisabeth in 2010. What a sweetheart. Sincerely devout. Very charitable. She'd sell jewelry to set up homes for newlywed poor ... deny herself items of art, furniture, or a new gown so that $$$ could go to the poor ... she bought milk cows and hired a reliable "farmhand" so the nearby poor could have fresh milk and butter ... she would visit cottages of the poor and pray beside their sick- or deathbeds.

And yes, she was guillotined. She was made to be guillotined last, forced to watch all others guillotined before her. Her fellows asked Elisabeth to personally bless them before the guillotining began. She did.

Prayer to the Sacred Heart by Saint Francis De Sales

May thy heart dwell always in our hearts!
May thy blood ever flow in the veins of our souls!
O sun of our hearts, thou givest life to all things by the rays of thy goodness!
I will not go until thy heart has strengthened me, O Lord Jesus!
May the heart of Jesus be the king of my heart!
    Blessed be God.
    Amen.

Desert Star, I hope you will get to France one day. Paris has some beautiful Catholic places, like Sainte Chapelle which has walls of stained glass, the light glows. Also of course Notre Dame cathedral and much more. France is a beautiful country and who could forget Lisieux? There are many places to visit as well as the experience of being in the heart of European culture. And the food. I live on the island next door and have not visited it nearly enough.

Thank you. :) I've wanted to visit France since 2003, when I began reading about 18th century France.

Offering to the Angels of the Heart of Jesus

Angels of the Lord, for your greater glory I offer you the Heart of Jesus, our God, Who loves you from all eternity.
With this divine Heart, and through It, accept our humble homage. Let us enter into the Heart of Jesus, for
through this Sacred Heart we can praise God forever in your company.

Angels of the Most High, we ask this favor through the gentle Heart of Jesus, and we offer you this Heart as
a golden chalice from which you can draw a divine nectar, that will fill you with a sweet and fortifying joy.
May we be so happy as to enter into this Sacred Heart of Jesus, now and at the hour of our death!

    Amen.

Thus may it be, through the Heart of Jesus.

A fascinating petition. I've never thought of angels as continually growing in glory and joy! Thanks, DS7!

Sweet Jesus, may Thy sacred heart
    My hope and refuge be;
There may I learn the heavenly art
    Of living but for Thee.

This fountain of Thy sacred heart
The source of love most pure,
To those who dwell from sin apart
    Affords a refuge sure.

    Anthem

Those who seek Me shall find Me. If anyone love Me,
    I will love him,
and will manifest Myself to him.

A steady Beacon in the night drew a lamb who had gone astray.
It shown all glorious crimson-gold, exuding many a kindly ray.
    O Heart of the Good Shepherd - fain Hope, sweet Light, the Way;
More refreshing than cool waters, sweeter than the choicest hay!
Entwine Your Heart with all adorers, who nevermore will go astray.

O Sacred Heart, through Thy powerful grace, may we become Thy
apostles in the midst of a corrupted world, and be Thy crown in the
    kingdom of heaven.

    Amen.

O Lord, I build my nest on the altar of Thy Heart, and deposit there the
offspring of my soul, namely my works, my words, and my thoughts.
I cast them into Thee, and Thou wilt sustain them.

On the altar of Thy Heart I find a safe haven, the tranquility of which
    rough
winds can never disturb. Yes, I find in Thy Heart a resting
place, a shelter from the storm.

Come unto me, all ye who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you,
    and
learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
    Matthew 11

Dearest Jesus, I pray for this tired old world which
is always the tired old world to which you came and
    for what You died.

This 100-page booklet was published in June 2021. I've only found it just now. Ordered.

" As additional content of this work, in addition to some prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, there are some outstanding maxims and promises that Our Lord made to Saint Margaret, since this is a good place to keep them collected and remember them frequently, if only to re-evaluate and intensify the love, again and again, of each gesture, action or commitment, and thus maintain the flame of love first, fighting against falling into routine."

"O Divine Jesus, lonely tonight in so many tabernacles,
without visitor or worshipper, I offer Thee my poor heart.
May its every throb be an act of love for Thee.

In Thy Love Thou dost never sleep, and Thou art never
weary of Thy vigil for sinners. O lonely Jesus, may the
flame of my heart beam always in company with Thee."
