It's interesting, the Visionaries in Medugorje report that people in Heaven wear Pink, Gold or Grey Robes, similiar to those Jesus wore on Earth. I was just wondering what this colour signifies. I was at once thinking that Grey must be the lowest as it is the most pedestrian. But Our Lady seems at Medugorje mostly to wear Grey robes.... I must have a look and see....
Maybe gray refers to a long life? Our Lady herself lived to old age at the Holy House of Ephesus. I think she was reported as having been Assumed into heaven in her '80's... https://www.biblestudy.org/bible-study-by-topic/meaning-of-colors-in-the-bible/gray.html What is the meaning of gray in God's word? Is hair of this color always a sign of wisdom? What huge mythical beast left a wake that looked like this pigment? The color gray is recorded nine times in the KJV Bible, with all its occurrences appearing in the Old Testament. The Hebrew seybah (Strong's #H7872), used 19 times, is translated "gray hairs" (or head) in Genesis 42:38, 44:29, 31, Deuteronomy 32:25, Proverbs 20:29 and Hosea 7:9. It is additionally the basis for the single word "grayheaded" in 1Samuel 12:2, Job 15:10 and Psalm 71:18. The remaining occurrences of seybah are translated into synonymous phrases such as "old age" (Genesis 15:15), "hoary head" (Leviticus 19:32), "hoar head" (1Kings 2:6), "hoary" (Job 41:32), and "hoar hairs" (Isaiah 46:4). A hoary (hoar) headed individual is one who possesses locks that are gray in color. A person with a hoary head has reached an advanced age that deserves to be respected (Leviticus 19:32). This look many times means a level of wisdom has been achieved through experience, although this is not always the case. I said, 'The aged should speak, and the multitude of years should teach wisdom.' . . . Great men are not always wise; neither do the aged understand justice (Job 32:7, 9, HBFV, see also Ecclesiastes 4:13). The gray (hoary) head is a crown of glory if it is found in the way of righteousness (Proverbs 16:31, HBFV).
Gold seems to indicate those who put Gold first in life. Our Lady appears in robes of Gold on Great Feast Days, such as Christmas. Psalm 45:9 My Heart is Stirred by a Noble Theme …8All your garments are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from palaces of ivory the harps make you glad. 9The daughters of kings are among your honored women; the queen stands at your right hand, adorned with the gold of Ophir. 10Listen, O daughter! Consider and incline your ear: Forget your people and your father’s house,… https://www.patheos.com/blogs/chris...he-color-gold-mean-or-symbolize-in-the-bible/ Gold has always been a fascination of mankind. From the poorest of the poor to the richest of the rich, people have always desired gold. And, many literary tales and accounts have had gold as a central part of the story. King Midas is one example among many. Even the Bible, believe it or not, talks a lot about gold. At times, it is a significant color and object that is listed to signify or point to some type of truth. Although it doesn’t mean it’s always significant to the story, it’s worth learning about to be a more informed reader of the Holy Bible. So let’s ask the question: What does the color gold mean or symbolize in the Bible? A good way to figure this out is to look at some Bible verses. Ezekiel 7:14 “They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be like refuse; their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord; they will not satisfy their souls, nor fill their stomachs, because it became their stumbling block of iniquity.” Although money can be very helpful, the Bible tells people that it can also be a hindrance to spiritual growth. Gold, of course, has always symbolized wealth and monetary gain. It was desirable, so people placed a value on it, even today! In Biblical times it was no different; people sought after gold to be their refuge and savior—yet this verse in Ezekiel speaks of a time when gold will be meaningless because, in light of eternity, it cannot save them. Nobody can buy their way into heaven with gold. The only way to Heaven, according to the Scriptures, is by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Psalm 119:127 “Therefore I love your commandments more than gold, yes, more than fine gold!” Many times, throughout the Bible, gold is used as a way to show that something else is greater. Since so many people thought that gold was the most valuable thing on earth, it made sense that the Biblical authors would compare things with it. Here, as is often the case, the Psalmist is declaring that the Word of God is far more valuable to him than gold. Once again, gold seems to be something that (at least by inference here) is often misused. It’s thought to be the most valuable thing in life, yet it’s actually Jesus Christ that is. 1 Corinthians 3:12-14 “Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare is, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.” Gold, here, is not a negative thing. In fact, it is actually positive! The Apostle Paul is saying that all Christians will be tested when they leave this world. Their works, or what kind of ministry they did while here, will go through the fire—if it is weak things like hay or straw, it will not endure. If it is gold, however, it stands a likely chance of enduring. It was work that was eternal and meaningful. After all, gold is often refined by fire (Rev. 3:18), not destroyed. Acts 3:6 “Then Peter said, ‘Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.’” It is not gold (or money/wealth) that people need, it is Jesus Christ. Peter and the other apostles understood this perfectly. They didn’t go out and try to acquire wealth; rather, they went out to preach so people could have something far greater than gold—Jesus!
The last colour is Pink. But I am more inclined to think that they meant a Rose colour as Our Lady was dressed at Guadalupe. But I am bias . I don't fancy spending my Eternity running about in a pink robe. Pink apparently means a right relationship with God..
Two days of the year rose coloured. I used to be a little sad about this that they just wore rose coloured twice a year. It seemed so little.
I was up in a charity shop the other day when a little English priest wearing round glasses and full cassock bustled right in along beside me. It turned out he was A tradition Father visiting my own Church up the road. He reminded me so much of GK Chesterton's Father Brown , it made me smile. I wish all priests might look like priests. They have much greater influence.
Here is a priest who thinks priests should not look or act as priests...that they should look like everyone else:
It is only now when I am off work that I can get to see things a lot more clearly. I have time to meditate and pray ..to take time. One thing I am now aware of is how oppressed I was by the devil in the last month. Some really , really bad dreams and a feeling of sadness of being pressed down. But in a way this was my own fault. If this kinda thing usually happens..and it often does...I use sacramental, blessed salt and Holy Water to bless my bedroom and the rest of my appartment. I also use special prayers before I go to sleep as protection. But I was working so much I lost track of this. I must up my game. I sometimes think of the devil, really have you nothing better to do in all the world to do than annoy me? Is there no one else to annoy? But he seems set on it. Well whatever. He seems very, very set on it, just at the present.
One of the material high points of the week was getting a Utility bill from my gas company. They reckoned I have used £221 ($261) dollars since April and since I had already paid them £211 ($249) I now owed them £10.57 ($12.50 dollars). They were using their own estimated meter reading. I did my own. I actually used £88 ($104) So I reckon they owe me £133 ($157). Quite a difference. It's worth while checking up on all this at the moment. There are loads of scams going on. When I told the guy from the company over the phone he rung me back to check my reading. They could hardly believe it. But I am away a lot camping and so for several weeks don't use things at home. I am careful anyway. Beware your Utilities Bills. Your money is better in your hands than theirs.
Its interesting to read this. You could describing me too. The bad dreams and the hurried prayers--too tired to remember the Holy water and blessed salt. Just a very heavy almost slothful weight on me. However I always pushed through on the Rosary. I managed to make sure I got at least one said every day. Last night I spent some time in prayer--beyond the usual and this morning as I was bustling around getting ready to go to town with my several things that had to be done it seemed that Jesus said to me "In all your busy time can you give Me a little?" I decided I would stop at the Adoration chapel even though I truly was pressed for time. I spent about 20 minutes telling Him how sorry I am to be so tepid and careless with my prayers. Asking--pleading really--for Him to hang on to me and not let go. I am so unreliable.. And again it seemed He spoke. I mistrusted that it was my imagination or worse. I said a binding prayer. And He spoke again. "Hold on. Hold on." I saw a white water raft tumbling over rapids careening back and forth. "Hold on!" And I immediately saw Him seemingly asleep in the boat with the apostles. I asked if He would confirm His word to me with a scripture. Psalm 22 verse 6 came immediately. I looked it up in the Bible in the pew. The USCCB Bible. Verse six: "to You they cried out and escaped, in You they trusted and were not disappointed." I share it here for those who are also feeling tossed about. The Church is very much like a raft careening down an angry river and we are all holding on for dear life. But Jesus is with us!!!
I agree with maryrose. Thank you for telling us about your experience. I hang on to words of knowledge and encouragement.
No, turn the picture round once to the left and Look at the 'face' you see? The Face in the cloud. At the edge. The face that is bearing on down on Jesus;at His head.
I am so excited and happy to be going up to the Traditional Church today for confession. Happy but a little anxious. The Fathers there can ask uncomfortable questions and are not inclined to give people an easy pass. This reminds me of my Spiritual Director who could really make me squirm with his questions and suggestions. It was one to one of course and so could get very intense. He certainly never let me away with anything. There is an old Passionist priest near me who has the habit of not even going into the confession box or hearing sins at all, nor does he give a Penance. He simply calls people forward and gives a very strange , quick blessed with his hand...as though he is swatting a fly away...and laughing waves the people onwards. This is all done so quickly I reckon he could get through a football crowd in half an hour. I don't believe he believes in the Sacrament at all but is only going through the motions. But no pain ; no gain. It is a bit like getting antiseptic on an open wound , it has to sting a bit so you know its working. Which is why historically Devout Catholics have flocked to , Good', confessors like Padre Pio and the Cure of Ars. They get the job done and get the job done right, bless them. I have so much more time at the moment when I have much more time for Mass and prayer. What will it be like then when I retire? Heaven. I have heard of retired Catholics spending several hours a day in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I don't think I could do that, everyone is different I love to pray while walking in the woods. But perhaps I will join the Legion of Mary. Hopefully there will much , much more time to post on the forum. Life is so uncertain at the moment . Life has always been uncertain, but especially now. May the Most Holy Will of God be done forever and ever. Oh well better get set for the squirming session.
