SUN IN THE SHAPE OF A CROSS SEEN AT GARABANDAL

On June 13,1978 at approximately 5 :30pm, A group of pilgrims from Great Britain were praying at the grove of Pine trees, and all of a sudden one of them said “ Look at the Sun ! “ 32 of the pilgrims observed the Sun in the shape of a cross while others saw it turn into a silver disk which spun rapidly, others saw it change into different colors such as blue and green, sometimes within another circle. Fr. Benac collected signed testimonies of many of the witnesses.

    GARABANDAL & PURGATORY

I have always viewed Purgatory as God's greatest act of Mercy. The reason I say this is that, for the most part, most people do not deserve Heaven immediately upon their demise. Purgatory at least gives us that hope and that someday, we can attain Heaven (and we have also avoided hell ).The Warning will be God's next greatest act of Mercy, by allowing us to see the gravity of all our sins, as he sees them, and a chance to repent, and correct our ways, before a final judgment one day .

“The message concerning purgatory was taught at Garabandal indirectly through the actions of the girls, as was so much of the Garabandal message. It was a lesson imparted not through words but through deeds, by being lived and practiced. Our Lady led the children in ecstasy to pray for the souls in purgatory. Implicit in this prayer was the teaching that all souls who are saved do not go directly or immediately to heaven. Some of them are not yet ready to see God and must be purified by making atonement for their sins in an intermediary place that is appropriately called purgatory or place of purgation.” By Joseph A. Pelletier, A.A.

    IN TIME, MARY REVEALS ALL.
I have a rarely heard story of Our Lady kissing a woman's powder case (compact). We know most of the stories are about kissed religious objects. The reason I post this ( besides being a rarely heard story ) is that it reminds me of we don't always understand everything that happened at Garabandal , until later on. I think this story proves my point. Never question our Blessed Mother's intentions.

One day Conchita was in the kitchen of her house surrounded by persons who were waiting for the moment of the apparition. On the simple table that served for the family meals, the objects that she was going to give to be kissed were being gathered. Together with these, someone had put there a stylish woman's powder case. The child and those present wanted this removed. How could the Virgin come to kiss an object so profane and used only for the service of vanity? Nevertheless, the powder case remained there. The ecstasy began and those present saw with astonishment that the visionary's hand, without her looking at it, before going to any other object, went first of all toward the previously discussed powder case. The child raised it toward the invisible Virgin and then set it down with great respect on the table. Among those present, surprise must have been mingled with doubt. Was it really the Virgin who was appearing? It didn't seem that she would kiss such an object . . . As soon as the ecstasy was finished, Conchita was asked for an explanation. And she declared that the Virgin had asked immediately for the powder case in order to kiss it, saying that it was something "belonging to her Son".The girl did not know anything more. But the person who had put the powder case there did know more and revealed the secret. During the terrible Spanish civil war (1936-1939) in the Red Zone when priests were being executed and had to be hidden, the powder case had been used to bring Communion Hosts to various locations and especially to prisoners whom the Reds held captive in order to execute. Thus it had served as a Pyx.

JANUARY 27, 1962: CONCHITA'S MUCH AWAITED ECSTASIES START AGAIN
Having known for some weeks already that Conchita would see the Blessed Virgin again, many witnesses came on this January 27 to attend the resumption of her ecstasies.
A NEW BISHOP APPOINTED TO THE SEE OF SANTANDER
On this very day, Msgr. Eugenio Beitia Aldazabal was named the new Bishop of Santander. He was the only titular Bishop during the period of the public "events" of Garabandal, and was to fulfill that office until July 2, 1965.

    * Titular Bishop is a Roman Catholic bishop without a diocese.

1966 Con & Nieves '66.jpg 3 Girls went into convents.
Many people have commented over the years “ Why didn’t the girls go into the religious life, become Nuns after the apparitions ?

Most people don’t know that actually 3 of the 4 girls did enter convents ! Conchita, Jacinta, and Mari Loli did for a short time, then left for different reasons, and became boarding students instead. Mary Cruz did not go at all. On February 7,1966 Conchita (on her 17th birthday) enters the Discalced Carmelites Missionaries of Pamplona. On February 13,1966 she has a locution from Jesus, where he tells her this was not his wish to be here.
Both Jacinta and Mari Loli were 16 at the time they decided to enter a convent. On September 30, 1965 they left for the Sisters of Charity of St. Ann, in the Aragon town of Borja. Jesus said to Conchita: “ I choose you in the world, that is, in the normal condition of the faithful, so that you would remain in it. “

I guess our Lord had other plans and vocations for the girls, to remain in the world, and not hidden away in a convent. How else would we know all that we do about the apparitions and messages.

Strange weight of Visionaries in ecstasy. The Visionaries could lift one another up with the greatest of ease while in ecstasy. On the other hand, two grown men were not able to lift a single child when in ecstasy. In one of the photographs, Conchita can be seen, before the church door, lifting Mary Loli up to give something to the Virgin to be kissed.

    WINGS ON THEIR FEET"
From: “She went in haste to the Mountain”, Book 1,Chapter 6, pages 111-115
This account from Andrés Otero Lorenzo from Santiago; he was both a witness and a participant in what he described,on July16.

"They did not fly as has been said at times by persons who have seen the affair from afar and in the dark. They did not fly; that could easily be determined. Their feet touched on the ground, but in a way that I don't know how to describe. Looking always and only upwards they never stumbled on anything, nor did they slide, nor did they strike against any stones."

"They marched as if they were flying, but not flying; while the rest of the people were falling and sliding. But you would have to see what that was like! Above all, the running in the dark and in the dim light."

" The girls walked as if their feet had eyes to search for the exact spot where it was best to step, always on top of the rocks and pebbles or away from them, never striking against them. And with a lightness, a grace, and rhythm I could not describe. I fell several times and stumbled many more times; but although perspiring and gasping for breath, I couldn't succeed in keeping up with them. I could never forget those marvelous things."

Hi Glenn, I hope you are recovering well. Do you have a good quote from Conchita in your Garabandal library that describes the Miracle of Garabandal? I am not referring to the day, the place where it will be seen or other details that contextualize this future event, but about the Miracle itself, about its nature.

So you are asking is there a quote describing what the Miracle will actually be?

    Mary & The Brown Scapular

When Mary appeared in Garabandal as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, wearing the Brown Scapular over her arm, she instantly sent a message of its importance. It also connected the wearing of the Brown Scapular to the devotions Mary talked about (the rosary, the Morning Offering prayer ) and to the Garabandal messages.

Mary has appeared in four apparitions with the Brown Scapular.

    TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY:
    HOLY THURSDAY, APRIL 11, 1963:
    "AN AMAZING "SENAL" ("SIGN") WILL
REMAIN AT THE SITE OF THE PINES,
    IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE GREAT
    EVENTS OF THE "D" DAY . . . UNTIL
    THE END OF TIMES"!

On this Holy Thursday, Conchita learned about the future "Senal," the Sign which, right after the events of the "D" day, "will stay at the site of the Pines until the end of times, in the form of a luminous column, a kind of cloud by day and fire by night." This phenomenon will symbolize, through its obvious biblical, ecclesial and eschatological connotations, the presence of God in the midst of His people, so enlightened and guided in its worldly journey towards the "Promised Land." Who then would not see also that such a Sign will doubtless represent for the Jews themselves, at the beginning of this 21st century, as it were, a powerful and astonishing reminder of the Sinai Covenant and of its profound exigences? For "they are beloved (of God), for the sake of their ancestors; for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable" (Rom 1:28-29). Indeed, in this way, Garabandal will reveal, in a broader prophetic scope, the richness of what we call the "mystery of the Carmel" . . . of which we are still too unaware. That mystery, with its obvious link with the huge figure of the prophet Elijah, so dear to the Jews, obviously refers to the "mystery of the people of Israel" with whom Yahweh had concluded an alliance in the past, but also to the whole People of God, the eschatological Israel."
At the very spot where this prodigious "Senal" will emerge, a sanctuary will eventually be built in honor of the Archangel St. Michael, "Protector of the People of God." We may also note that this great "Sign" will necessarily have a profound affinity with the very nature of the Miracle to come. It will not only be visible for everyone, but it will even be possible to photograph and televise, but not touch, such an extraordinary supernatural phenomenon.

Thank you brother for your attention. This interpretation that associates the Miracle of Garabandal with the Sinai Covenant and the Prophet Elijah is very interesting.

I also noticed the date of this revelation. Many believe that April 11 this year, a Thursday and the feast of Saint Stansilaus, is a likely date for the Miracle of Garabandal to happen...

Remember, April 11 is the feast day of St. Stanislaus, but he was Bishop of Kracow who was martyred while celebrating Mass 49 YEARS OLD ! ( Too old to be the "boy " Conchita mentioned .

My personal interest in knowing more about the nature of the Miracle of Garabandal results from the fact that I heard about an alleged new revelation related to the miracle of Garabandal through recent videos by the author Santiago Lanús. But of course, this thread has a very specific and important function and I do not intend to bring poorly documented information here.

February 1963, Joey Lomangino meets Padre Pio again, Garabandal is confirmed !
In 1961, he traveled to Italy and met St. Padre Pio for the first time, at the monastery of San Giovanni Rotondo. Although they had never met, the famous Capuchin greeted the American with these words: "Ah, Joey, how happy I am to see you!"

February 1963, Joey made another trip to Italy. He went back to see Padre Pio, who heard his confession and . . . miraculously restored the use of his olfactory sense . . . while the nerve still remains severed! Joey tells the story : "when I knelt down to receive Padre Pio’s blessing, and got the fragrance of roses that came from the wounds in his hands, I was startled and went against the wall with my arms up to protect myself; I didn’t know what it was. Padre Pio pulled down my hand and said in Italian, “Joey, don’t be afraid.” He then touched me on the bridge of my nose and my sense of smell was restored to me after being without it from the day of my accident in June 1947, which was 16 years." Joey asked Padre Pio if the Virgin was appearing in Garabandal ,and was it true. Padre Pio would encouraged him to go to San Sebastian de Garabandal, after he had assured him very clearly that, "Yes, it is true, the Blessed Virgin is appearing at Garabandal!" When Joey returned to NY, he started spreading the news of apparitions of the Blessed Mother in Garabandal.
