In my opinion, we are repeating the history of pagan Roman Empire and apostate Jerusalem, just like in Revelations. And this is what Evangelicals don't want us to focus on, because they are obsessed with the land of Israel, above everything else.

I struggle to understand any of it. The reason I posted the link on this thread is that I'm not convinced about Rome being the seat of the AC. I read where someone (you?) pointed out that the Romans put a statue of one of their gods at the time of the destruction of the Temple. Nero was an AC to the first Christians. I think you (if it was you) also said that Revelation could be telling us what had happened as well as what will happen. At least that's the meaning I took and it makes sense to me. I'm inclined to believe that the main event could be in Jerusalem when Jesus destroys the AC. I'm also inclined to believe that Nero was a prototype for the real AC at the end of time, therefore, the AC will be a world leader not necessarily based in Rome.

Must admit here that I get all the prophecies, both biblical and from private revelation, mixed up in my head. I do agree with you that we seem to be sinking into a your god/my god/their god type of paganism.

Thank you Dolours for understanding exactly what I meant! Revelations is a mirror to the future. That's the mystery. Rome and Jerusalem, but not the Vatican.

Dolours the abomination of desolation according to Bishop Sophronius is the building of the Dome of the Rock on the Jewish Temple Mount. (Daniel 11:31).
Daniel's earlier prophecy refers to Epiphanes' slaughter of a pig on the altar in Jerusalem.
The Jews before the Antichrist will not have converted to Christianity, although some will after the Warning. What the prophecy says is that the Jews will control Jerusalem. And today it is freed from Gentile control.
    Bible prophecy is happening.

The focus should be on Islam, not a Pope. Yes, the Church is going through an apostasy, no doubt. But the False Prophet will not be a Pope. It will be a New Age type of religion that will include all religions, and the False Prophet of this false religion, will team up with the political Antichrist. Any way, that's my two cents.

Isn't Damascus flattened in one of those Old Testament prophecies? Looks like that could happen in the not too distant future.

I think it will be a New Age type religion but one which unites name only Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc.

I would be interested in your take on the questions I have about the final passion of the Church as expressed in my post on the "Is the Warning Imminent" thread.

My understanding is that the final confrontation between Jesus and the AC is going to be in Israel
In the Valley of Jezreel at the foot of Mount Megiddo

I do have St Faustina's Diary in paperback. It is structured as a resource, daily diary. There is also a guide for it which is layed out by topic. I have that as well. The diary is small but quite thick. Her diary, references to the Illumination, Permanent sign and Chastisement is also substantiated by other Saints of her time and following her, eg. St Pio, Our Lady of Akita, Fatima, Blessed Sister Mary of Jesus Crucified (19th century), 19th century Blessed Gaspar Del Bufalo, Marie Julie Jahenny of Coyault, France. Much has been documented. Unfortunately few are aware, accept, are willing to talk about it at risk of being chastised by friends and family. I forwarded a small portion with citations to my sisters. The one said it was fear mongering to insult those of faith. Alas, most won't believe until they are suddenly faced with the Warning. Below is a small portion of what is found in one tab on a related site. Forgive me if this should be on another thread. The Holy Spirit and Our Lady are graciously trying to prepare us all. Some are listening and taking heed, many would not even if they knew. That is one reason we are called so strongly to pray. The footnote citations you see are on the site. Click on the photos for the site reference.
    "A Basic Chronology
    I. Lawlessness
Scripture attests that, in the last days, many false prophets will arise to lead the faithful astray.[1] St. John also describes this in Revelation 12 as a confrontation between the “woman clothed in the sun” with the “dragon“,[2] Satan, whom Jesus called “the father of lies.”[3] These false prophets usher in a period of growing lawlessness as the natural and moral law is abandoned for an anti-Gospel, thus preparing the way for the Antichrist. This period is accompanied by what Jesus called “the labor pains.”[4]

    II. Exorcism of the Dragon/Illumination**[5]
Satan’s power is broken, but not ended: [6]

Then war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back, but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The huge dragon, the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, who deceived the whole world, was thrown down to earth, and its angels were thrown down with it… woe to you, earth and sea, for the Devil has come down to you in great fury, for he knows he has but a short time. (Rev 12:7-9, 12)

As I will explain further below, this event may be concomitant with the “illumination” described in Revelation 6, an event which signals that the “day of the Lord” has come: [7]

Then I watched while he broke open the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake… Then the sky was divided like a torn scroll curling up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place… They cried out to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, because the great day of their wrath has come and who can withstand it?” (Rev 6:12-17)

    III. Antichrist
The “restrainer” of 2 Thess 2 will be removed ushering in the Antichrist to whom the dragon gives his limited power: [8]

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. But the one who restrains is to do so only for the present, until he is removed from the scene. And then the lawless one will be revealed. (2 Thess 2:7-8)

Then I saw a beast come out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads… To it the dragon gave its own power and throne, along with great authority… Fascinated, the whole world followed after the beast. (Rev 13:1-3)

This Antichrist is the false light who will deceive through “every mighty deed and in signs and wonders that lie” those who have refused the graces of Divine Mercy, those who…

…have not accepted the love of truth so that they may be saved. Therefore, God is sending them a deceiving power so that they may believe the lie, that all who have not believed the truth but have approved wrongdoing may be condemned. (2 Thess 2:10-12)...."

The book of Apocalypse is structured to be a series of "unveilings"---things that were and are and are yet to be. It is filled with actual events with real people who serve as types of what was before and will come again. Thus Antiochus is a type of Nero. Stalin and Hitler are cut from the same cloth. All of them in one way or another brought an abomination of desolation into the holy place. The AC who comes at the end will be the final and definitive Man of Sin. The persecutions referred to are an ongoing pattern for the People of God. The symbolism is rich with the style of apocalyptic literature. As Scott Hahn points out the images of the Lamb and the lamp stands and the "Holy Holy" are liturgical and make veiled references to the Holy Sacrifice which is both eternal and present in time and space. The book is literal as well as symbolic as well as eschatological. The Protestants who take it only literally are missing whole dimensions of what God reveals through St John. Sensus Fidelium and Scott Hahn and others have great work on this.

Excellent. Thank you. Beast of the sea is a government, country, kingdom like pagan Rome - according to Fr Gobbi, the 10 horns etc, is freemasonry and the Masonic lodges that rule in these countries.

Yes! It's history and the Mass, including the woman clothed in the sun, which is Our Lady who symbolizes the Church. It is this historical context of all the ages, according to Fr Gobbi, that will then manifest the Antichrist as a person.

That New Age type religion I believe is Freemasonry. Every country and religion has a Mason. I'm still pondering upon your question on the passion. Revelations is about the Mass, so the sacrifice is there. But who will be Judas you ask? Will it be the fig tree (Israel) that receives the help from the Gentiles to rule again, but will in the end turn it's back on Christians? After all according to St Paul and St Peter, mystery Babylon was apostate Jerusalem.

I'm remembering what Maria Esperanza said about the 2 countries who manipulated the USA into the Iraq war. She warned us not to fall into their trap. She never mentioned them by name, but described the first one as a very smart and small country, and the other country very large and rich. Is it possible that those two countries are Israel and Saudi Arabia?

  15. I believe that Revelation, as John says himself, is to be understand as it is revealed.....not otherwise. Since it involves what has never occurred previously, since it applies to another time, it can only be realized in its truth and depth as it happens.

As we are already seeing with AI, I believe that the coming falsehood will involve this kind of dehumanizing technology that will be gradually accepted...esp. by the younger generations and those who wish to live only in this material world, having been cut off, influenced via the Illuminati control of the forms of communication, from the spiritual dimension of the Father's Divine Will with the laws that accompany it. Satan's desire since the fall has always been to be against or bring down the human, esp. the woman for she was to bring about the perfect Man which the Father had revealed to the angels and in their own idea of humans as lowlier than themselves, they refused to ever worship or serve as higher than themselves. And at the crucifixion those fallen angels realized for the first time their power beginning to be diminished. Afterwards they also realized that those who followed this Christ also began to diminish their power....until, at the end, those "types" would match the evil that occurred at the time of the fall and Satan would have nothing left. Why he is now so visible everywhere as he realizes a kind of desperation to gain more souls for himself. The approach of the NWO is to cut humans off completely from the Truthful spirituality/other dimension, and force him, without the means to learn the truth, to totally trust only the material, finite, defective world which will be manifested through powerful but deceptive kinds of manipulation within technology through the brilliance of that mind of the fallen ones. Of course it will be destroyed but not before it does its damage to the willing. Since though God is Merciful, esp. to those who have never experienced the Good, in order to make a fully formed choice, He will find a way, I believe, to help those too who are so gullible and victimized but who may have tried to change after the Warning.

Maybe this will help some here discern on the future Antichrist or maybe it won't but I offer it anyway.

In the introduction of Desmond Birch's 1996 book on the end times, he states the following about the Antichrist:

'According to Tradition, Scripture, the commentaries of various Fathers and Doctors of the Church, and, a broad understanding of private Catholic prophecy, there will be many "antichrists" preceding the Antichrist who is an individual man. The supreme or ultimate antichrist foretold to come in the end times cannot be a political, sociological, or religious movement, nor can he be a "group" of men. According to these same sources, he is most probably not coming by the year 2000 nor any time in the immediate future either.'
He also states the following which I find to be very helpful in this discernment,

'...private revelation can never be part of the deposit of faith, whereas, Scripture and Tradition are, and even exegesis of the Fathers can be when certain conditions are met.'
I also offer the following from Church Father Hippolytus of Rome who is included in Birch's book, http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0516.htm
    (formatting added for emphasis),

    ...
    6. Now, as
our Lord Jesus Christ, who is also God, was prophesied of under the figure of a lion, on account of His royalty and glory, in the same way have the Scriptures also aforetime spoken of Antichrist as a lion, on account of his tyranny and violence. For the deceiver seeks to liken himself in all things to the Son of God. Christ is a lion, so Antichrist is also a lion; Christ is a king, John 18:37 so Antichrist is also a king. The Saviour was manifested as a lamb; John 1:29 so he too, in like manner, will appear as a lamb, though within he is a wolf. The Saviour came into the World in the circumcision, and he will come in the same manner. The Lord sent apostles among all the nations, and he in like manner will send false apostles. The Saviour gathered together the sheep that were scattered abroad, and he in like manner will bring together a people that is scattered abroad. The Lord gave a seal to those who believed on Him, and he will give one like manner. The Saviour appeared in the form of man, and he too will come in the form of a man. The Saviour raised up and showed His holy flesh like a temple, John 2:19 and he will raise a temple of stone in Jerusalem. And his seductive arts we shall exhibit in what follows. But for the present let us turn to the question in hand.
    ...

Maybe it helps narrow things down a little bit.

So much to read and take in over the past day or two. It will take me more than a couple of days to digest it all.

We know that "the time is near" isn't our concept of a short time but could mean centuries. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I don't recall anything in Revelation saying that it is strictly for the very last days of the world. St. John warned against changing anything written in Revelation but he didn't give an interpretation understandable to the ordinary layman. Jesus gave us a hierarchical Church to guide us to Heaven. St. John, being an Apostle and Bishop of the Church knew that better than anyone, so I reckon that St. John left it to the Church to interpret his visions as appropriate to each time period or phase in the life of the Church. I believe that St. John would have been aghast to see individuals bringing their own interpretation to his visions, especially individuals who have departed from the Apostolic tradition. That's why I prefer to stick to what the Church expects to happen. While Church approved private revelation is helpful when it warns us what can happen if we stray from the narrow path, we need to be careful not to try manipulating it to fit into what we think is the meaning of St. John's book of Revelation.

I do believe, possibly erroneously, that the final confrontation with the AC will happen in the Holy City of Jerusalem which by that time will be defiled by the AC and his followers.

The reason I'm inclined to concentrate on Holy Week and Christ's passion when speculating about the fate of the Church in the last days is that Church authority has told us that, like Christ, His Church will go through a passion before the final Resurrection. Although the Church doesn't say that the end times pan out along the lines of the first Holy Week, I don't see why we can't use that week as a guideline.

So, it starts on Palm Sunday with Jesus being hailed as a hero by what could be described as all Jerusalem to the chagrin of the religious authorities. Couldn't that be the era of peace for the Church when all good people are on the barque? Or could it be now when the Church can function freely and openly?

Judas didn't betray Jesus to the Romans. Rather, he struck his deal with the Sanhedrin, the religious authorities at that time. Presumably, then, there will be a false religion to whom the successor of Judas will betray the Church. That false religion will be similar to the Church but will operate with the consent of the secular government while the true Church is operating in secret. It's important to remind ourselves here that Judas and Peter were different people. Peter denied Jesus but it was Judas who sold Him for the 30 pieces of silver. Peter found his courage, preached the faith and was martyred. Judas died in despair.

The religious authorities handed Jesus over to the Romans. It's possible, therefore, that the leaders of the false religion will have the civilian authority, led by the AC, condemn the Church for sedition, leading to the Church's Good Friday and three days in the tomb.

We know that the two lampstands whom everyone expects to be Enoch and Elias will be killed. What if they aren't Enoch and Elias? What if they are the Pope who, having cowered at first, filled with the Holy Spirit finds his courage and preaches against the AC? What if the other lampstand is a St. Paul type Bishop of the Church? Jesus told us we wouldn't be orphans and that He would be with us until the end. Perhaps Jesus will return to reclaim His bride (the Church) after the AC kills His vicar (the Pope)?

The only timeline we have for the last days is that the AC will reign for three and a half years. I don't think the Church has ever rejected that belief. Is the reign of the AC (three and a half years) believed to be the Church's equivalent of the three days Jesus spent in the tomb, or is it the time from the betrayal on Spy Wednesday until the empty tomb was discovered on Easter Sunday? If it's from Spy Wednesday to Easter Sunday, then can't we assume that the period from Palm Sunday to the betrayal is also three and a half years?

I'm probably way off track with the above which I will no doubt discover when I re-read all the info posted in the past day.

Incidentally, I really recommend that people read that eighth letter by Moses Hess to get a hint of the kind of infiltration and sedition the Church had to deal with down through the centuries. Catholic monarchies were always in the crosshairs. There's nothing new under the sun.

    Yes.

Isn't it possible that secular Rome will be the seat of the AC and Jerusalem the location of the False Prophet? What would stop the FP preparing people for the arrival of the AC to the Holy City? Rome to Jerusalem isn't such a long journey.

The EU (likely soon to be the US of Europe) is planning to have its own army. They need something to occupy all those military age asylum seekers.
