I knew 39 is a significant number in Jewish law. It could even be seen as a sign of mercy - it stops short of death and utter degradation - despite the horrendous reality it represents to our ears. Of course St Paul suffered this several times. There is even some humour in the attached link. http://www.jewishduluth.org/rabbi/2016/9/19/forty-lashes
nice, I knew the reason before why 3 and 13 are favorite numbers of God. Now that you mentioned 39, why didn't I also think of that!!! 3 x 13 = 39 The devil hates the number 13, that's why he came up with the Friday the 13th to put a bad light on the number 13...
What an awesome link! I remember Ann Landers using that expression. I have used it myself. That link has a prayer of forgiveness which has touched me. Thank you.
You are most welcome HH. And yes I agree the prayer of forgiveness is moving in a way that only the best of the Jewish people can move.
A very recent video by Fr. Elias Mary Mills on a "visit" with Sister Agnes Sasagawa in April this year, at the care home where she now lives. She is effectively hidden away but appears to be bearing it all with grace.
How wonderful to see and hear this living saint. May God guard the presence of the truth in her mind, mouth and soul and bless her courage, her cheerfulness and her kindness.
Wonderful video. Thanks for posting it. It confirms what Michael Matt reported in the video below when he visited the shrine a couple of years back.
The settings on this video appear to have been changed. Unfortunately it's longer available to view publicly. Strange, other videos by Fr. Mills are there to view.
An interesting recent conversation with Timothy Gordon and Fr. Alexander Crow discussing the events and messages of Akita. https://www.youtube.com/live/azAvzh_talQ?feature=share
A new video by Dr. Mark Miravalle on the 50th anniversary of the Marian events and messages of Akita.
Among the villagers of Garabandal there is a contingency who are descended from Jews who fled persecution by Muslims and converted to Catholicism. The child seers of Garabandal were aware of this history and during one visit by the Blessed Mother they asked her “Are you Jewish, like us”? Mary said yes. The sign of God’s presence with the wandering Jewish people in the desert and in the temple was a column of smoke during the day and of fire by night. This sign has already been witnessed on two occasions in Garabandal and is considered by many to constitute the permanent sign to be left in Garabandal after the miracle. The Great Miracle to be worked by Jesus includes the permanent sign that will be left by Jesus. The scapular is a sign left by Mary. In Akita Our Lady said that the rosary and the sign left by her Son will be our remedy: prayer and the presence of God. “The survivors (of the conditional Chastisement) will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. (Same words as Garabandal) The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests." For a longer account https://ourlady.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Garabandal-and-Synagogue.pdf
