I bought a new book last night and since I especially love the lives of the saints bought the following on Amazon Kindle by France Hogan and Irish writer an acclaimed spiritual guide.
Having done so I was surprised and pleased to discover that his Feast Day occurs this week in the Old Rite which is maybe a little nudge from heaven. When he used to be approached by young priests who wanted to make their own Parishes Holy and wondered how to do it, St John always used to advise them to try sleeping on the ground as a Penance. I wonder how that went down? It's nice to read a book about a saint by someone who is rumoured to be a saint herself.
Started to read this book and its quite awful . Rather than being an actual book it looks more like a point by point precis for a talk or as the framework for a book someone intended to write in the future. Not only that but even as a framework for future work it is abominable. I think at one time I saw the exact same point being remade four or five times one after another. So it is clear that after firing of this work on her word processor did no or very little revision of her work. Not only that but several large chunks of the saints life are left out entirely (a for instance when he went on the run and hid after failing to report for conscription in Napoleon's army or his relationship with his Parish Priest). I would not mind so much but I got charged good money for this. Awful. I must do a review to warn other poor fools off this cheat.
Is it truly Frances Hogan or someone named Cathleen riding on her coattails. Doesn't sound like Frances Hogan does it? She is never sloppy or unedited.
The name on the book is Cathleen F Hogan. Probably a cut and paste job - someone out to make a few quid the easy way.
Yip - she has cut and paste her way through the lives of many saints https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?i=digita...=Cathleen+F.++Hogan&ref=dp_byline_sr_ebooks_1
It is the same on utube. Many people warning about terrible things to happen in the near Future to get hits and make money. Claiming to be Catholic but actually being as Catholic as my dog Tor.
Here's Books by St John Marie Vianney Especially The Little Cathechism of the Cure of Ars To add to your collection. Merry Christmas
