    "
“American decline is not inevitable, it is a choice. And we should choose a new direction — a path that will lead to American revitalization,” DeSantis said on the glitchy stream, racing through his conservative accomplishments. “I am running for president of the United States to lead our great American comeback.”

While his critics in both parties delighted in the rocky start, DeSantis’ announcement marks a new chapter in his extraordinary rise from little-known congressman to two-term governor to a leading figure in the nation’s bitter fights over race, gender, abortion and other divisive issues.

DeSantis’ path to the Republican presidential nomination will not be an easy one.

He enters the race looking up at Trump in early polls while facing serious questions about his far-right policies, his campaign-trail personality and his lack of relationships across the Republican ecosystem. He has generated significant interest among GOP primary voters by casting himself as a younger and more electable version of the 76-year-old former president.

The ultimate Republican nominee is expected to face Democratic President Joe Biden on the general election ballot in November 2024."

Thoughts from others on Pro-Life Catholic Christian, Military Veteran, Amazingly Successful Florida Governor - ranked no. 1 economy in America - Ron De Santis? I'm wondering why he hasn't gained far more traction from Catholic Christian Conservatives and Public Speakers etc.

And, whereas Trump bragged about molesting the genitals of multiple women in a very vulgar way, De Santis is a Faithful Husband to his Loving Wife, and a Good Father to their Children. Personal and Professional Record does matter when it comes to being a Good Leader. De Santis's is clearly better.

Trump was ok last time, but De Santis is clearly better this time. If Abortion and Woke Ideology is to end, the Best Christian Conservative must clearly be chosen. Among available candidates, that's clearly De Santis. Not even close imo.

Anyway, De Santis bags a big endorsement. Those Steve Deace has endorsed have won Iowa in the past. And therefore De Santis very well could too.

Deace says: "frankly I have never seen it, when it comes to the issues that are going to decide the future for our children and grandchildren, who has more knowledge, more willingness, more resume, in understanding them, what to do about them, and then actually doing it. I’ve never seen anything like what Ron DeSantis has done in Florida". The main argument I've seen against De Santis is that he allegedly can't win. Well, that's changing. Here's the source:

"Conservative Iowa talk show host Steve Deace threw his support behind Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s presidential bid Friday.

“I’m endorsing Ron DeSantis for president because I think he’s the strongest leader in the race. I think that’s proven. I’ve just seen a level of leadership, strength, that I’ve just not seen in this era,” the host said on “The Steve Deace Show.”

I’ve seen a lot of good people come and go, but frankly I have never seen it, when it comes to the issues that are going to decide the future for our children and grandchildren, who has more knowledge, more willingness, more resume, in understanding them, what to do about them, and then actually doing it. I’ve never seen anything like what Ron DeSantis has done in Florida,” he continued.

In a press release, DeSantis’s campaign referred to Deace as an “Iowa Kingmaker.” Deace endorsed 2008 Iowa caucus winner Mike Huckabee and 2016 winner Ted Cruz." From: https://thehill.com/homenews/campai...owa-radio-host-steve-deace-endorses-desantis/

My only concern is his close association with the Bush family. They are his chief backers. On paper he looks very good. He has convictions and he seems fearless in expressing them. Much prayer and discernment is needed I think.

Leaving aside their personal lives - and Iowa Evangelicals have recently begun criticizing Trump for "F bombs" - look at the economic records:

    1. "One of President Donald Trump’s lesser known but profoundly damaging legacies will be the explosive rise in the national debt that occurred on his watch. The financial burden that he’s inflicted on our government will wreak havoc for decades, saddling our kids and grandkids with debt.

The national debt has risen by almost $7.8 trillion during Trump’s time in office. That’s nearly twice as much as what Americans owe on student loans, car loans, credit cards and every other type of debt other than mortgages, combined, according to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. It amounts to about $23,500 in new federal debt for every person in the country." https://www.propublica.org/article/national-debt-trump

    2. "TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the surplus for Fiscal Year 2021-22 is $21.8 billion – the highest in state history and more than 21 percent above the state budget for the fiscal year. Collections in May were $742 million above estimates, and preliminary data for June collections are approximately $950 million above estimates.

“Despite the headwinds created by the Biden administration’s policies, Florida is in a strong fiscal position because we preserved freedom and kept our economy open,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “Our responsible policies have allowed us to make record investments to support our communities, promote education, protect the environment, and provide record tax relief for Floridians, all while building record reserves to protect the state against the reckless fiscal policies from Washington.” https://www.flgov.com/2022/07/07/go...unces-record-surplus-for-fiscal-year-2021-22/

And here's the incoming criticism from Iowa Evangelicals I mentioned about Trump's frequent use of expletives, which of course contradicts the Bible:

"29 Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak]." [Ephesians 4:29, Amplified KJV]

    3. "Vander Plaats has been increasingly vocal against Trump, saying in spring that Americans were “exhausted” by the former president’s harping on the past.

“I think they want to turn the page to the next generation leader, someone who’s got a compelling vision that might unite America around things that actually bless America,” he told “The Hill on NewsNation.”

That trend continued on X, formerly known as Twitter, over the weekend, where on Sunday Vander Plaats called out Trump for “F bombs and mocking people with disabilities.”

    https://news.yahoo.com/evangelical-leader-rips-trump-says-083532273.html

Good to see Pro-Life Catholic Leader Lila Rose get it: "Biden opposes every abortion restriction, supports tax payer funding for abortion on babies through all nine months, and has been using the
    @TheJusticeDept
to target peaceful pro-life activists. If the 2024 candidate is Ron DeSantis, Biden will lose in a landslide."

A few thoughts. The MSM will soon turn on Biden because the facts concerning Hunter and the President are irrefutable. Since it would be insane to push V-P Harris as a presidential candidate, who will appear on the horizon? The Democrats, as a whole, back the 2030 agenda of Mr. Schwab and Company, so who? Some think Governor Newsom, but I think Michelle Obama will be promoted. I would not be surprised if Barack is currently the power behind the throne, and if Michelle enters the fray she will garner huge support as a sort of savior. And Barack will be there pulling strings. But I believe she will not enter until October/November after the Biden presidency implodes.

If Trump doesn't gain the position as Republican nominee, he will run 3rd party which will split the conservative vote. If he does win at the Republican convention, the race for the Presidency will be a show to behold!

    Lord have Mercy.

There is much here to ponder. I appreciate the info. I am not sure what will happen here in the US. Many people I know who are rabid dems who hate Trump despise DeSantis as well. I have stopped listening to much of it. I will do my due diligence when the time comes to choose. I have felt for awhile that Pres Trump was given those 4 years by God. I am not sure he can take them back in a second run. God may have used him only for a season. As I said in my earlier post much prayer and discernment is needed.

By the way, Xavier, I do like DeSantis and believe he would make good choices. But the Republicans who behind the scenes support the global agenda (ex. McConnell, Graham...), will resist him.

I think Trump is running mainly to avoid being prosecuted. If that's the concern, De Santis has said he would certainly pardon him: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/91ul0y_HU18?feature=share Trump shouldn't be prosecuted. He can retire to his Florida home and live a peaceful life with his family. Trump did ok. It's just that he's not the Anti-Woke and Integrally Conservative Champion - Catholic Christian Champion at that - De Santis is imo. De Santis's Record against the Woke Globalists speaks for itself. He was strong against Fauci, untested vaccine mandates, and much else - while Trump called himself "Father of the Vaccine" and praised Fauci. Yes, there are bad democrats and bad republicans. Freedom Loving Conservative Christians will oppose all that, as they will also oppose the American Government officially promoting Sodomy/Genital Mutilation/LGBT, as the Biden Administration is doing, and even the Trump Administration didn't stop that much, though it did some Good Pro-Life Work. De Santis would improve on that, and be much tougher on being Anti-Woke as well; some African Countries, not to mention Russia, are not happy with LGBT Promotion. Under a President De Santis, that would surely stop - and yet De Santis only opposes Child Genital Mutilation, and he has a fair degree of support even from LGBT people who are not extreme in his own Home State - he did after all win re-election by record margins in Florida, carrying wide swathes of the electorate.

See things like this: "Former US president Donald Trump has claimed that he is “the father of the vaccine” and “President Trump is the most pro-gay president in American history. I can prove it." Trump was moderate at best.

De Santis checks all the Conservative Boxes and has a Stellar Record both in Governance and in Family Life to back it up.

Finally, about 25% of US Population is Catholic Christian, and another is Evangelical Christian. So, the argument that strong Conservative Christian Candidates are not electable doesn't wash. Pastors, Priests, and other Spiritual Leaders, while promoting the Common Good of All, must imo openly give moral and spiritual guidance that the best and strongest Credible Conservative Christian Candidate is of course to be preferred.

"Meanwhile, in 2020, 25% of Americans said they are Catholic, and 2% were Jewish. Over the past two decades, the proportions of Americans without a religious identity have more than tripled from 6% in 2000 to 19% in 2020." https://news.gallup.com/poll/341957/religiosity-largely-unaffected-events-2020.aspx

Again, Evangelicals comprise another roughly 25%: "Comprising nearly a quarter of the U.S. population, evangelicals are a diverse group drawn from a variety of denominational backgrounds, including Baptist, Mennonite, Methodist, Pentecostal, Plymouth Brethren, Quaker, Reformed and nondenominational churches.[2][3][4]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evangelicalism_in_the_United_States

That's 50%, Evangelicals and Catholics together. Of course, some would be liberal, and that's bad, but definitely many of those are Conservative Christians. So those like De Santis are not "unelectable" imo.

    God Bless.

I've only listened to him talk once but he struck me as a sociopath. I was also struck by how stupid the speech was, he had to have said 'woke' at least once per minute and said the same thing over and over and over. If your entire position is basically defined as being in opposition to another movement it's never a good sign, even if the other movement is terrible.

I haven't paid him much attention though, so maybe I should look closer; my first impression was just terrible.

Did you mean something positive or negative about his eyes, Padraig?

It may be only me, but I noticed in Ireland people who are very Athletic, have good bodies, often have a funny kind of pale blue eyes. Ron De Santis's eyes remind me of this. Along with this they sometimes are coupled with belonging to someone who is very unstable. A tendency to madness. I find them disquieting. When I see eyes like this I tend to take off real quick.

I had thought this was only an Irish, Celtic thing, but maybe not. A kind of disquieting, roving intensity, of someone about to pop.

I wrote this before I knew as a child he had done so well in Little League.

Ron DeSantis signed the Heartbeat Protection Act which prohibits abortions once the unborn child has a detectable heartbeat. I thought he did a great job for the state of Florida during the pandemic. He has also worked to protect children from being exposed to the woke LGBTQ agenda in Florida schools, and recently signed a Florida ban on transgender treatment for minors. He was also brave enough to take on Disney, but his battle with them kind of went off the rails. I don't think he is the kind of man who would subscribe to the old adage "catching more flies with honey than vinegar". Ron DeSantis has an authoritarian personality, and his dealings with Disney proved that he seems to be predisposed to retaliation which I find concerning. He is certainly not a seasoned negotiator like Donald Trump. It's really too bad they cannot put aside their differences and join forces.

I still remember an occasion where President Obama was walking down a short hallway to make an address at a microphone. To me his look radiated arrogance. I could be wrong, but it did make me shutter. I would never want to see him or Michelle claim the White House again. Will he be the AntiChrist?:cautious::sneaky::whistle::coffee:
