We are getting an early start here in NY as when St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday, the celebration and parade takes place on the 16th. So my best wishes and prayers for all our Irish friends here and all who love this great saint of our faith. May Ireland and America be forever connected and May we now both be reconverted through intercession of glorious St. Patrick. Dia dhaoibh Éire https://images.app.goo.gl/fEdo6QofhwT1MCEXA
Come back to Ireland O Holy Boy, Saint Patrick. We need more men like you. March 17 when everyone wants to be Irish. Just had my DNA done, 99% Irish/English. Even named the Irish counties. Tried to climb Croagh Patrick twice couldn’t make it to the top bad weather came in. Now my knees are too old to try it again. A Blessed St.Patrick’s Day to all.
After listening to Rebekah , it’s got me in the mode of listening to different Irish songs. Some rousing, sone old fashioned, and others that stir up such wonderful memories for me as a second generation Irish American. As I get older, St. Patrick’s Day takes on a different meaning… more reflective and turning to and thanking God for first of all St. Patrick himself. We can romanticize him, but like other saints he suffered and did all for Christ. An example for me! But I also think so much today of my family… my parents, grandparents, aunt and uncles and now even a few cousins who have passed on. I think of their sacrifices to first come here to NY, to build a life and to pass faith onto me. I honestly bring tears of joy and love to me this day. I hope I can carry on what they started with my kids and now grand kids. Teach and pass on the faith. And yes, be proud of our heritage and be thankful to God for his blessings. So, the next two days will be filled with music for me. And I’m sure a few pints to toast and remember my loved ones gone on and to celebrate and be with the new one here today.
Happy St. Patrick's Day to the entire Irish nation on the island and abroad. ☘️ This is my favorite song by The Pogues and it's dedicated to you all.
Happy St Patrick's Day to all here! To Padraig whose name day it is and to all Patrick's! Our wondetful African priest Fr Patrick lovespoke movingly of the Irish mission priests who converted him and his fellow Nigerians. He spoke lovingly of the treasure of the gospel. Of their sacrifices and dedication. And he spoke of how bad things are in Ireland right now and the suffering of devout Catholics in Ireland. I had tears in my eyes listening to him.
On a lighter note, my husband asked me to find his green shirt so he could wear it to Mass this morning.
