    DAN LYNCH APOSTOLATES

Bishop Strickland Should Make Amends to Pope Francis

As a former trial lawyer and judge, it is my opinion that Bishop Strickland’s tweet could be credibly construed as a false accusation made by Bishop Strickland against Pope Francis, his ecclesiastical Superior, in violation of canon law.

Well, that is why I posted earlier that the cat is now out of the bag. :(
    Edit
Unless there was a pressing reason, it probably would have been wiser to keep one’s mouth shut, especially in a tweet. But now we have fallout and damage control. Just my 2 cents.

In the matter of answering Our Lady of America’s request about the Bishops of the US processing with her statue into the National Shrine in DC:
Lynn Fiat, member of forum, posted that this has been attempted. Apparently, the rector of the Shrine did not allow it. The office of the United States Council of Bishops is right across the street from the Shrine. Sometimes there is no way to get things done. God has to act.

I read the piece by Dan Lynch and kept an open mind. Taking a legalistic approach to canon law might give cause for his concern. This is where Francis is clever - he lets others do his dirty work while just steering clear of outright heresy.

I think Strickland does have a case however. Four high ranking cardinals issued a 'dubia' of five queries about Amoris Laetitia. They received no answer. In another context, the Pope Emeritus in a private letter did answer the dubia! However, when doubts are there concerning the clarity of the Pope's words, and the ambiguous nature of interpretation, surely Bishop Strickland is justified in calling this out? It's well above my pay grade, but the confusion and the implications of many papal appointments does raise questions that require answers. What would Dan Lynch suggest we do?

J.D. Flynn is simply wrong here. Bishop Strickland committed no canonical offense when he pointed out the errors of this pope’s agenda. Those errors are obvious to any orthodox Catholic observer.

Dan Lynch is not a canon lawyer.

I believe it above his pay grade to claim Bishop Strickland broke canon law.

Did the Dubia cardinals break canon law questioning the Pope's teachings?

    No!

I think he is quoting J.D. Flynn, who is a canon lawyer. But I truly believe Flynn is way off base here and I’m very disappointed in him and Pillar Catholic.

Still, I think it was unwise for Bishop Strickland to post a blanket statement on twitter without any clarification, or without taking on a separate issue. Writing a letter to the Pope is different in scope and would not be calumny by any stretch of the imagination. Bp Strickland could still be running his diocese the way he sees fit, more than likely, if he had not done the twitter post. my 2 cents

I realize my opinion is not the popular one, and I do support Bp Strickland. But I still think his choice of venue is what got things stirred up. Everything we do has consequences.

I am sure the Bishop prayed hard and drafted that statement many times to say what he needed to say knowing that he was probably going to get sacked.

Meanwhile, the Pope and his merry band continue to push their agenda - I wonder if they have read Romans 1?

The Word of God - I suppose Father Martin would call this outdated and homophobic, as would the present incumbent in the chair of Peter.

    Romans 1
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

I' m not sure at all. How do we know if he prayed hard first? We don't. We don't know the the context or what precipitated him to do this. I don't think we can say.

Your post gave concrete examples. Bp Stricklands's did not. It seemed to me to be an umbrella statement. It's unfortunate. That's all I'm going to say.

I think at the minute we are in the the smoke of Battle and this causes confusion. I think during the Month of October when people start talking on what's actually going on in this so called, 'Synod', things will come an awful lot clearer and some folks are going to get a big, big, big shock at where we are heading.

He prays an hour and a half each morning before taking on his ministry.

But you are right he has to pay the consequences.

I'm praying that things will settle down for him. He is a good Bishop, one of the few we have left.

It seems to me that that PF and the Vatican machine are running the church like a political party and you have to tow the party line -

Those dissenting from the party line are disciplined and removed - those who support the party line are promoted.

The only thing is that the church is not a political party.

I support Bishop Strickland as well, so I was pretty annoyed reading Mr. Lynch's article. I do believe you've made a valid point. Had the Bishop taken a different approach and avoided social media it would not have paved the way for Dan Lynch to openly admonish the good Bishop, thus making matters even worse. Everyone knows by now that the bishops who are not on board with agenda will be targeted. It is frightening to think about just how far they will go to silence them.:(

Neumayr died on January 19, 2023, four days ago, in the Ivory Coast, a former French colony on the West coast of Arica. His death was attributed to malaria (specifically, “after contracting malaria”). Neumayr had gone there on an investigative assignment involving corruption in the Church, and had sent out tweets in December that his investigation was uncovering some “scary stuff.” (he tweeted) “I suspect there will be some murders before this is over, maybe even my own,” Neumayr tweeted on December 23, exactly one month ago. “I am not joking. This is getting scary.”
