If you personally know someone who reads Richard Rohr, gently, but firmly tell them: his opinions are heretical and that this Franciscan should be avoided at all costs.
I remember that some years ago one British Catholic paper carried the ramblings of Fr Rolheiser. I always felt he was a bit iffy. Just checking him out, it seems he is very iffy. Again, Anne’s comment about heresies beginning below the belt would seem spot on.
Thankfully, they mostly seem to be of an age that heralds imminent death or Alzheimers. What the hell (apt term) was in the water in the sixties and seventies?
Good question. Even in my fallen-away days in my 20's I knew the "we are church" was hogwash. But so many priests and religious jumped in with great enthusiasm.
A few people on this forum have pointed out the axiom that 'heresy begins below the waist', as has Clare above. Events seem to have largely borne this out.
I remember listening to Richard Rohr on the radio back in the early '90s. He's come a long way but, unfortunately, it has been downhill.
I listened to that video I suggest avoid that priest like the plague he is a danger to the faith. He has made a Christ out of his own mind and likeness in his own cosy egoist theological fantasy world. What a waste of words in a book. Matthew 7 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me'.
he is listed as a teacher\master (I dont think he consented to appearing ,tho) in a website devote to hindu-style Monism https://www.nodualidad.info/maestros/richard-rohr.html
