    Fatigue.

“When you are tired, think of My fatigue
    Bossis, Gabrielle. He and I (p. 44)
.Pauline Books and Media. Kindle Edition

Most people are acquainted with fatigue. I think for most it comes and goes, and we can feel fatigued for more than one reason. I have always had some trouble with fatigue. I am a light sleeper, and I seem to start dreaming as soon as I fall asleep, so that could add to one reason why I feel fatigued often. I also need time to recharge to get some energy back. Sometimes I am so tired that it is hard to recharge, since being fatigued can make me restless. So, I struggle to make peace with this issue.

Since I had Covid last January, my fatigue pretty much doubled, but does not interfere with my duties or my monastic times of prayer, at least in the morning hours. I also realize the some of the increase in fatigue is due to my age.

I fear being alone when so tired, since I tend to fall asleep when reading, or trying to pray. Some of my reticence is due also to my lack of discipline when it comes to dealing with this issue. The Lord is kind, and slowly I am learning to live with it. I have found that if I stick with prayer, or Lectio, sometimes the fatigue lifts a bit and I do not fall asleep. I am thankful for that.

I was talking to one of the retreatants last night about aging. I did say that I do not fear aging, and do not want to be any younger, but my body certainly feels the weight of years. It is something that is part and parcel of this adventure we call life.

This morning, as I was having breakfast, I was talking to the Lord and stated that I can feel some anxiety about where my diminishment is taking me. I was thankful for this experience, because it allows me to face my own personal walk with aging and learning to trust during times of actual fear.

Yet, my inner joy is growing, as well as trust, so when my weakening becomes something major, I can continue to trust in God’s love and presence in my life.

Jesus experienced all things human, yet always took the next step. I believe that His life was harder than anyone else because of his deep love for each of us, and His infinite compassion, as well as empathy he has for us. It is hard to accept the personal love of God, the Infinite, the Other, yet that is the revelation of Jesus Christ who shows us the love of the Father.

So over time, I am slowly learning to pray in times of fatigue with God’s grace. Aging is a gift, but one has to have faith to believe that. It is downward journey when it comes to diminishment, but an upward journey to keep faith as we realize that our long journey, which passes by so quickly, is coming to an end sooner rather than later.-Br.MD

Father, did you ever consider that your fatigue may be as a result of the vaccine? I advise you not to take any more jabs.

I have always had fatigue problems, that got worse over the years. I runs in the family I believe, with some inner issues that are past on from generation to generation.

We do live in a time when the Tower of Babel exist under the form of the internet. There is too mush, every side is sure of themselves, and to tell you the truth
I do not know what to believe about the 'Jab'. I do think the 'Jab' may be a two edge sword. If not for the vaccine, I tend to think during the second year of the
pandemic, when the virus was still strong, there may have been many more deaths. Yet for those of us who have the "jab', we may have to pay the piper as well.

I think I have long term COVID, but not as serious as many others. My fatigue is strong, but not overly severe.

I pray for all of us, and hope that we get through this. I do believe that it will be a while before things return to any kind of normalcy. In the meantime,
I believe that "All things work out for the good for those who love God", so I lam learning deeper trust in God with my struggles, which I believe is the struggle
we all go through in one way or the other.

I pray the Rosary and the Chaplet for the Salvation of all, and simply trust in God, yet keep praying for my brothers and sister around the world.

    Thanks for you comment pedraig.

    Mark

I know these are confusing times Father but in charity I am bound to warn you and the other members of your community not to undergo another session of jabs. I won't argue with you about it. I just felt it my duty in charity to do so

But turning from this. I wonder about your attitude towards Pope Francis as regards the so called Synod at the moment. Particularly as regards same sex blessings,

Again I have not the least intention arguing about it with you I am simply curious,

You've had your thyroid checked, right? Hashimoto's Disease runs in my family and I'm probably going to get it (last bloodwork I had done my microsomal TPO antibodies blew out the upper standard on the test, so it's essentially a matter of time for me).

I believe that there is a lot of confusion over the synod, I am very concerned, but waiting to see what happens. What else can anyone do, but pray and hope for the best.
Also I do believe that the Holy Spirit is a work, but yes, I fear great harm can come.........all we can do is wait and see.

    Peace

Yes. I do believe that some of my fatigue is because I work with the public, also I am 2nd superior in my Monastery, so I deal with a lot of issues, human issues that involve suffering........this can be tiring. Yet, again, it got worse after COVID and my doctor believes it is the cause.

Peach and thanks for your concern :).

    peace

We thank God for that at least .

Not so much a growl as a faint whimper of warning. But at least some kind of warning .

The first I've however heard from you

    But better than nothing

By the the way, I'm not the least confused about the Synod. The Vatican has been taken over by Modernist heretics led by a Modernist heretical Pope

Get back to me when you've unconfused yourself.

Brother, in more than a few cases, the vax seems to worsen existing problems. Of course, I cannot be sure that yours is due to it but it certainly is a possibility, albeit a difficult one to accept.

I wonder if "long Covid" is actually an illness that refuses to resolve because the body's natural immunity has possibly been compromised. Again, many factors - including age, genetic issues etc - but one can't rule out the vax as a cause because too many I know are having the same complaint and are pretty puzzled over their condition.

I agree, the world can be pretty loud and confusing these days - which is why I listen to only 1 person actually - Dr John Campbell. He took the jab and was supportive of it until the research began to come out. His videos are well worth a listen because he is extremely knowledgeable, and his analyses are backed by facts, not plucked out of the sky. Plus, he's not the foaming-at-the-mouth and ranting type.

I can empathize, brother. I had five serious strokes in 2015/2016 and almost everyone who has strokes has post stroke fatigue for 6 months to a year. I was sleeping 14 to 16 hours a day, including naps.

In a fraction of stroke patients, the fatigue never resolves. Mine didn’t; I have severe chronic post stroke fatigue. It’s like regular fatigue but ten times worse, and it’s constant. Unfortunately even after sleeping 12 hours straight, I still wake up fatigued. It’s so bad I was given total physical disability because of it.

Yet life goes on, and I’m doing stuff now I never would have dreamed of attempting in my younger days. I just have to arrange my entire schedule around sleep.

And it’s a cross that can be offered up each day. And freely offered and united with His cross - as you well know - it has merits we cannot begin to comprehend.

I listened to this early this AM. I think EVERYONE should listen. Especially the medical and scientific community. As the current jargon goes, he has the receipts.

Although I think about passing to heaven, It's really about being tired, about going to sleep, about being fatigued

I used to wa6ch people dying in the hospice and that's how it seemed to me. Being tired , going to sleep

    Such a gentle, natural thing

The Hand of 5he Goid God all over it

There's very worse things than being fatigued

Yes I think about that as well. As I age I understood how little time I have,
this makes life even more beautiful, and important. Here we can continue to
grow in our love of God, we choose to trust, and to move forward.

The Spiritual battle can cause fatigue as well.

    Peace
    Mark
