    Pope Francis's homily yesterday morning at mass was interesting: (Monday April 18th 2016}

    http://en.radiovaticana.va/news/201...esus_is_the_door,_path,_voice_to_heed/1223639

Follow Jesus, not fortune tellers and alleged visionaries

Jesus continued, therefore, speak of the way. The shepherd knows His sheep and leads them out: “He walks in front of them, and the sheep follow him.” The journey is just that, the Pope said, “following Jesus” on the “path of life, the life of every day,” and we need not fear being misled, when we follow Him as He shows us the way:

“Those who follow Jesus do nor err! ‘Oh, Father, yes, but things are difficult ... So many times I do not see clearly what to do ... I was told that there was a seer and I went there and I went there; I went to the [fortune teller], who turned the cards to me ...’ If you do this, you do not follow Jesus. You follow another, who shows you another way, a different way. Jesus shows the way forward: there is no other who can show the way.’ Jesus has warned us: ‘There will be others who will say the way of the Messiah is this, this, this [other way]: do not listen. Do not hear them. I am the way.’ Jesus is the door and also the path: if we follow Him we shall not go astray.”

This is the second time I know of that the Holy Father has attacked, 'alleged', visionaries publically.

As someone very open to the mystical and prophetic I admit I find this troubling. He appears to put the good and bad eggs all in the one basket and dump them all. Discernment of the truth and false in such circumstances appears irrelvant, what the Holy Father appears to be indicating is dump them all.

What is much more worrying and of even deeper concern is that he places visionaries right alongside fortune tellers. Fortune tellers are of course forbidden by the Church , but of course receiving messages from heaven has never been condemned...up to now that is.

Or do I misunderstand the Holy Father?

    I don't believe I do.

As I say I find this very troubling indeed. He never qualified anything he said by reminding us that there are true seerers as well as bad, like I say they are all in the one basket with Fortune Tellers, of all things.

    1 Thessalonians 5:20

19Do not quench the Spirit; 20do not despise prophetic utterances. 21But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;…

A wee bit simplistic for my tastes - just follow Jesus.

    Which Jesus?

    The Jesus of the Liberals?
    The Jesus of the Charismatics?
    The Jesus of the Protestants?
    The Jesus of the pagans?
    The Jesus of the Gospels?
The Jesus of the New Age?

I am afraid the flock needs a wee bit more guidance than that!

Padraig, I believe Holy Father is aware that many people would not be able to discern between which visionaries or messengers are from God or from the fallen angels, especially those without Church approval.

I believe Holy Father is aiming to put us all on a cautionary note this year; because there is only months left until the end of Year of Mercy. I may be wrong; but when you think of it. You have spent years praying, reading, researching, meditating discerning these things. Some people jump on every bandwagon that passes in the spiritual sense and leave themselves open to bad or diabolic influence. Because they are not prayer centred.

The safest advice is to stay with the Gospels and Jesus Christ, if we have not developed a close relationship with Jesus and Mary. The Pope is speaking to the whole world, not just the practising, prayerful Catholics.

That is just my gut feeling.

Padraig, as I indicated on the Luz Maria thread, I do think the Pope's words this morning should be taken as a serious warning. And yes, it is the second such warning from Francis. As Peter indicated in the other thread, the Pope was definitely highlighting the dangers of following new age practices but he certainly was also including a warning about pursuing messages from questionable sources. I do think this is a particular danger for all of us on this forum because it is one of the most frequently discussed topics. I believe that there are few authentic visionaries or seers and many that are not authentic. I believe that is what Pope Francis is warning about, not visionaries 'per se'.

Interesting till I got to this:

    Jesus Your Savior
    Savior of Mankind
Then He said to me, “That is all Michele”
    And added:
“Continue to wear the Red Shoes* there will be many more martyrs, pray for them.”

*Red Shoes are being worn to Church in the tradition of the last true Pope in observance of the Martyrs who died for Christ.

"Red Shoes" is a red flag for me. Thanks for pointing that out, Sam.

Michael Brown had an article in Spirit Daily today (April 18) on separate but similar messages resulting from near-death experiences. That might be something to consider on this thread: http://spiritdaily.com/propheciesfromallover.htm

    An excerpt:

This is remarkably similar to a book by Julie Rowe of California, whom we spoke with recently and who has also written books about her experience. She "saw" a number of places where Christians would congregate to protect each other and live through events in mutual prayer for one another.

"I saw that we must not delay getting our lives in order," Julie wrote. "The time has come to get our houses in order and prepare for the days ahead. Time is short and we must do all in our power to prepare for every needful way.

"I was shown upcoming natural disasters on a scale unlike anything the earth has ever experienced. Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis, plagues, droughts, famines, pestilence, and all manner of disease will be upon the earth in such a deep and broadened scale that mankind cannot even imagine what it will be like."

She emphasizes problems along the "Ring of Fire," where she believes one big quake will be like the first "firecracker" in a series of them, as the world beneath our feet (at least near the Pacific) is "jostled." This will trigger volcanoes in many places, she believes.

Take heed, she says, when an event occurs along the Wasatch Range (near Idaho and Utah).

It's not the first time and perhaps it won't be the last time the Holy Father speaks off the cuff on a particular subject. Now if he would be more specific and less broad in his language, perhaps I could give him more credence on these matters. Surely, he would not contradict Scripture and despise prophecy, or would he? The past popes were surely prophetic for our times as well. As we have seen from MDM and LTTW in the past, not everyone has the gifts to discern whether prophecy has merit or not, but if/when heaven is speaking to prepare us, one would be a fool to dismiss it. If prophecy helps to prepare our house and especially our prayer life, then it can't be a bad thing. If it causes fear, then most likely the person needs to pray for the gifts of courage and fortitude and learn to do as the prophecy of St. Faustina declared and say "Jesus I Trust in You", "for surely the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secrets to his messengers his prophets" (Amos 3:7).

I recognized the name after reading this on After the Warning website. I used to be on some of those MDM Facebook groups a long while back (I got out of them pretty quickly). Anyhow, I looked at her Facebook profile to see if she is the same person whom I was thinking of. Sure enough it is her and she is still very active in promoting MDM prophecies and anything associated with that. She is also a big Pope Francis basher and believes that Emeritus Pope Benedict is the one true Pope. Huge red flags on this person!! Anyhow I alerted the webmaster of ATW of my concerns.

I trust the Pope is in his right mind. I believe many have been deceived by many false voices. How many of these so called prophets have said "I was wrong" when a certain event didn't occur when they said it would. I recall none. So many good people bend backwards to interpret what was presented...giving many meanings and excuses. We have Tradition and Scripture...do we really need another so called prophet or voice to remind us that we are in trouble? I am one who no longer listens to the voice of so called prophets...we have enough already. Pope Francis is right...our future will not be found out by fortune tellers...isn't that honestly what we seek out in prophets...a quasi fortune teller?

We know we should take what is good from any prophecy and discard anything else. If a prophecy has you wondering at all, let it go and move on. I introduce some new things here just to get others opinions. If it feels wrong and does not boost your faith, move on. We already have enough approved apparitions from which we know what is going on and what is coming..

Ancient Scripture and The Lord has warned us to be careful and not allow the "Phony" to get us off track .... the above has also told us to be ever watchful for "Signs". That's why the word discernment was coined ... and why the Church has developed a long & involved process before they OK Saints, seers, events and prophecy ... and why even then they don't require anyone to believe but only declare it worthy of belief.

GOD GUIDE & SAVE ALL HERE!!

:love:Wise advice Sparrow (Lovely Name). I guess I may be a little over the top on certain subjects but my name is James...Son of Thunder ;) I've seen Catholics turn private prophecy into their own little fiefdoms of faith at times such as Garabandal for example...and I certainly bare some guilt...but not anymore if I can help it. God is in control...I am not in control nor should I ever be. I always feel better stepping out at night and looking at the stars thinking...man... what a good God we got!

So many good points all of you make.

I have read a lot of things since I became a member here and with private visionaries I take the wait and see attitude. I am not following any of them and I don't plan to do so. I read their prophecies and most don't give a timeframe so I figure who knows.

Our Lady of Fatima has my attention right now and any other visionaries which have been given a similar message such as Garabandal (the main message is to follow Jesus). I would be lying if I said I wasn't somewhat fearful, so I do keep praying. But I honestly don't believe that something catastrophic is on the near horizon.

I really have taken the Pope's comment about fortune tellers and alleged visionaries as a sign, hence my original comment. I believe that we must be getting close to a prophesized date or maybe, he is going to announce a trip to Moscow, Russia and he knows what some people will be thinking. We'll see.

    Padraig,
God bless you brother. This is my first post. I enjoy the site very much.
Sir, stay in the boat. The water is choppy. A storm has arrived. Stay in the boat, with child-like faith in He who created the boat. He promised us He would always appoint a Captain whom He desired. So who are we to question the decision of the One who appointed our current Captain? His promises never fail.
    God bless you Padraig.
Also, if you read the Pope's comment again, he wasn't referring to Catholic seers, as in visionaries. He was referring to seers, as in fortune tellers. Just my opinion.

There is true prophecy which builds up and prepares the soul. The appearance of our Lady in so many countries is a prophetic sign of the times.

Our Lady has been coming as prophetess of the end times since the early 19th century and we have many Church approved apparitions. One does well to listen to the authentic voice of prophecy.

You can't throw the baby out with the bath water.
