Could you describe your most unpleasant preternatural experience with a patient?

    KJ
: It is very difficult to watch someone die who has no faith at all. It nearly always is a struggle and they tend to have significant terminal restlessness, or pre-death agitation. The last chapter of my book [about a patient, "Douglas," whose behavior toward the nurses caring for him was nothing short of demonic] was by far the most unpleasant spiritual experience I've encountered as a nurse.

Another man who sticks out in my memory was in his early 70s who adamantly refused anyone to enter his room who had any religious affiliation. He made sure we all knew that he didn't want "a priest, a preacher, a nun – nobody is going to talk to me about God." He couldn't stop us from praying for him though, which I think we all did. But how do you help someone who is at the end of their life and refuses God?

The only thing you can do is pray. His death was quite difficult; his agitation was so severe, very similar to "Mark," who saw Satan in the corner [of his room]. Unlike Mark, this man refused God up until the very end. I don't know what he saw at the end of his life, but it didn't look pleasant. An expression of fear swept across his face before he finally became weaker and weaker and then went unconscious. I still pray for that man after all of these years, as I believe and trust wholeheartedly in God's mercy. I am not his Judge, so you never know. Only God knows the heart of a man.

I was hoping this article would get more in depth. Guess I'll have to buy the book!

I am not afraid to die...but the death process is another story. Who knows...maybe I won't feel a thing or it may be the opposite. I have been trying to develop morning prayer to St Joseph and right now I mainly ask him to help me have a good and productive day at work. But we can't forget to pray for a good death for ourselves and family members far from God.

My understanding is that we should pray for a martyrs death as it is these deaths that reinvigorate the Church.

But once dead, I hope to make it to purgatory and make attonement.

Here is a wonderful story and picture which is going viral in South America and across the Spanish speaking world.

Carmelite Sister Cecilia Maria , of the Carmel of St Teresa and St Joseph in Santa Fe, Argentina. She graduated nurse and the 26-year-old made her first vows as a Discalced Carmelite in 2003 . Six months ago she was diagnosed with tongue cancer and the disease had lung metastases. He died on Wednesday June 22 at dawn. He was 43 years old.

Take a look at these pictures of this young nun in her final days, someone who is who is undoubtedly a saint:

On a piece of paper she wrote her last wish:

"I was thinking how I wanted my funeral. First some strong prayer, and then a big party for everyone. Do not forget to pray but also to celebrate! "

I read about her just before mass this morning. i have been praying to her since with great joy.

if ever anyone entered straight into heaven it must be she. What a joy!
