Hi, there is an article published privately on Spirit Daily about a pamphlet/ prophesy called, 'The downfall of the USA. It is only open to subscribers but I am very curious as to what it contains. I know some on the forum subscribe . I don;t subscribe , I would love it if someone could let me know by PM or email what is in it? Not in public as this would breach copyright. There is a book called The Deluge by Adam Tooze. It is an immensely scholarly production and rather a difficult read. It treats of the Rise of the USA as a world power during and after WW1. It is far better to spend money on a decent historical work or spend nothing and go to your local library than spend money on pamphlets which nearly always disappoint . I'm always skeptical of grandiose titles that predicate the Fall or the rise of any geo graphical territory especially one with 250 plus million people living on it.
I read it. It is a dire scenario for US apparently written in the 70's maybe predicting all manner of disasters and sounding like it is authored by evangelicals. It was given to a devout nun on her way to buy a coffee pot by a smiling young man who then was nowhere in sight. This was in 1989. Michael Brown tried to reach the two phone numbers one in US and one in Australia. Both no longer working. So I guess we in the US are going to be wiped off the map by some terrible thing. I sort of glazed over and quit reading. Right here right now prayer and sacrifice and Rosaries for the coming Reign of the Immaculate Heart. Anything else is distraction I guess I am mosey too but I also don't want to feed my fear so I would say for myself any way it is more boiler plate disaster.
Well said. Prophets of doom are everywhere. One of the signs of end of times is the conversion of the Jews to Christianity . The only hope for the world is a conversion to the one true holy Roman Catholic Church.
I got to read the pamphlet there now and I would not believe it. I am not saying all Protestant Prophesy is wrong but in this case we do not even know the source of these prophesies so how can we discern? But Michael brown is so interesting and entertaining in that he has the very Irish love of telling stories , just like Archbishop Fulton Sheen. I 'll tell you a story that happened to me many many years ago, about 43 years ago when I was just 19 and staying in a Passionist Monastery in the west of Ireland called the Graan. There were two very, very old priests living there one of them was in his 90's and the other had a real reputation in the area for being a saint. I was at his grave a month or so ago and it was covered in candles. Anyway out of the blue one of the wonderful old men asked me to come to his room that he wanted to talk to me. We rambled on talking about spiritual this and that's (at that time I was in the painful process of loosing my Faith so I could not have given much) . Anyway suddenly Fr B.. lent forward and said to me with great intent staring into my eyes very earnestly he said, 'God wants you to become a saint!' This took me totally by surprise and some impact on me, but I rationalised it off by thinking to myself he means it generally for all Catholics are called to be saints. But then a couple of months later as I was walking along the monastery corridor old Fr A, the guy the locals all thought a saint and came from miles around to see popped his head out and asked me into his room. Again we rambled on but then suddenly he stoped and said the exact same thing as Fr B with great urgency and force, 'God wants you to be a saint!' I must have looked a little blah, blah, blah about it but Fr A said again with great force, 'No you don;t understand. God wants YOU to become a saint'. Anyway I was reading an account of a US Army Chaplain during the American Civil War and am very touched by much of what he says. But I am much more touched by what he did not say, for he was a very humble guy. We respect and love our priests. But there is one thing about them we must never forget. Because they say mass every day they are in huge receipt of great mystical graces . They are natural mystics , if you like and have certain very,very special gifts to exercise if they choose. So if a priest throws you a left ball , do not ignore it pay attention.
Oh that reminds me of something that happened 2 years ago. I was on vacation with my family, and we attended Sunday mass at a random parish. After mass, the priest went straight to my son and said only, "Be a priest."
I have heard time and time again of boys singled out as priestly vocations and girls to be nuns even when quite young, some even as babies. What a pity we did not have more priests, e need all the good holy priests we can get.
I remember one time the Novice Master, Father Patrick asking me if I did not think the Monastic Vocation was higher than that of lay people. Fr Patrick was very, very traditional in his was of looking at things. Perhaps in many things he was right in this. They used to have a kind of stepladder of vocations , the more contemplative the vocation the higher it was . So at the very top of the pile were Carthusian or Camoldese hermits or Carmelite nuns. Then on down to the active orders , like, say the Franciscans. If someone wanted to change their vocation it should always by upwards. So for instance a teaching nun might have a higher calling upwards to be a Carmelite nun. But a Carmelite nun should not be going downwards to be a teaching sister. I think since religious do not have the distractions of lay people it is reasonable that the Good lord should demand more return from them. A priest it seems to me needs to be praying a lot more than other folk because of the mass. The mass demands great Faith to make it become alive in our hearts. If the Faith in the mass fails what is the priest left with but a life that is a huge void? Priests are of course special targets of Satan. Ask a real Satanist what they mostly Sacrifice for and they will tell you two things, 'The overthrow of the Catholic Church and the downfall of Catholic priests'. You hear this over and over again.
It is wonderful we se so many laypeople being canonized now, especially married people. The reason why nearly all our canonized saints before were religious was money. The Religious Orders sponsored these saints by paying the fees to get them over the Vatican hoops. So laypeople on the whole never made the grade. But now we get loads of laypeople being canonized.
