Apologies, if this news item was posted elsewhere. Last year this documentary was posted on YouTube. Where it discussed that at the time when they found the ossuary of Caiaphas they also found crucifixion nails with it. For some reason these nails disappeared, but now a retired geologist Aryeh Shimron, claims he has found the very same nails, with evidence of bone fragments embedded within the nails. This is the link to the news article: https://www.jpost.com/archaeology/n...us-christs-crucifixion-scientists-find-646839 And this is the link to the original documentary discussing the significance of the nails found with Caiaphas.
I have heard a few stories of Christ's cruxifiction nails in fact it was claimed for years that one of the nails (now removed) used to be at a shrine just outside Omeath... The only problem I have with the above research is the mention of bone fragments? For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, “Not one of His bones shall be broken.” And again another Scripture says, “They shall look on Him whom they pierced.
I didn't watch all the video because it sounded like a load of baloney. It' reminded me of the hyped up "discovery" of the garden tomb that some Protestants (probably Evangelicals) have decided is the "real" Holy Sepulchre. The Gospel of St. Luke; https://www.catholic.org/bible/book.php?id=49&bible_chapter=23 48 And when all the crowds who had gathered for the spectacle saw what had happened, they went home beating their breasts. 49 All his friends stood at a distance; so also did the women who had accompanied him from Galilee and saw all this happen. 50 And now a member of the Council arrived, a good and upright man named Joseph. 51 He had not consented to what the others had planned and carried out. He came from Arimathaea, a Jewish town, and he lived in the hope of seeing the kingdom of God. 52 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 53 He then took it down, wrapped it in a shroud and put it in a tomb which was hewn in stone and which had never held a body. 54 It was Preparation day and the Sabbath was beginning to grow light. 55 Meanwhile the women who had come from Galilee with Jesus were following behind. They took note of the tomb and how the body had been laid. 56 Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. And on the Sabbath day they rested, as the Law required. Does anyone believe that Joseph of Arimathea gave Caiphas the nails used in the Crucifixion of Jesus after they were removed from His body? Maybe those of you who watched all the video can tell me. And what did Joseph say to Caiphas when giving him the nails? Here's a present for you, Caiphas, to save for your burial? I'd be surprised if whoever made the video is a Christian. The person who searched the archives may well be Jewish. The narration in the small section of the video I watched struck me as coming from someone who believes all religion is superstitious. I did read elsewhere something about the shroud of Turin where someone who has studied the shroud says that the nails were removed from the body with great care. Here's a link (I don't know whether it's a Catholic source but it seems more authentic than that video): https://www.sudariumchristi.com/img/thoughts/jean_carmignac_en.pdf
They would not have been left behind. Period. They would have been taken to Our Lady. I don't believe any of this.
