I met a cousin of mind who is a Social Worker , she is a daily Mass goer, outside Church one day. She offered me a lift home. In the course of the drive home, somehow or other the subject of Abortion came up. She became very angry, said Abortion was a necessity and that if I had seen what she had seen I might know what I was talking about. There was no need to say anymore, when you hit a brick wall there is no point in banging your head against it. But it really shocked me. A daily mass goer and communicant supporting Abortion and doing so with such conviction. Even still I see a think I can still see a spark of the same anger, years later when we meet. I suppose she knows I am coming from a very different place than she is. But it is a real, real puzzle to me how anyone at all really can support Abortion. But a fellow Catholic? Oh well...
Same here. About 10 years or so ago my employer notified us our office would be closing. One of our options given was for funding to return to school. I applied and was accepted to study to be a licensed practical nurse. Later on, I had to make a decision ~ transfer elsewhere or go to school. When I more closely reviewed the LPN curriculum, I tossed it. One of the requirements was having to learn "the procedure" to be able to "assist when necessary". I haven't looked at nurses the same way since then...
Well, Alberta is different from NS. Perhaps they have a better program there. If that part had been an elective I would have gone for it. Alas it wasn't here. ugh
