My son-in-law, Stephen, graduated from Thomas Aquinas College in California, with whom the Norbertines are affiliated. The last time my family went out to California, we visited the Abbey for evening prayer. Very beautiful and hopeful. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/...is-inspiring-young-men-to-join-the-priesthood
It is wonderful the way Catholic eyes are turning towards this Abbey recently. The Prior says it's establishment was miraculous and I believe him. By my calculation there are more seminarians in that one building than there are in the whole of Ireland. If I were a Catholic Cardinal or Bishop anywhere in the World and saw how successful this place is I would say to myself, 'Whatever it is these people are doing I must do it myself!' It's just simple commonsense. What is it they are doing? Holding to Traditional Catholic teachings, practises and Liturgy. The artwork and architecture too are gorgeous..and Traditional. They are a beacon of Light and hope to the World.
There's is a wonderful old Cistercian abbey not far from here at Mount Melleray, near the grotto where Our Lady appeared back in the 80s. There's only a handful of old monks left and the liturgy etc has been gradually modernised over the years. Now they are opening up to new age influences and there have been terrible scandals which I won't describe here. I would just love to see a vibrant traditional order like this move into the Abbey, I'm praying that this will happen.
I am very, very sad to hear this. May God have mercy on us I must pray more, what terrible times we are living in
