The 50th International Eucharistic Congress begins in Dublin today. Please remember it in your prayers, that it may be a congress which bears much fruit. The people in Ireland are starving at the moment; starving spiritually, being deprived of the truths of the Catholic faith. Error and confusion are widespread at present, as well as a spirit of lukewarmness, particularly where the doctrine of the Eucharist is concerned. Please God this congress, guided by the Holy Spirit, may be a time of genuine renewal in our attitudes and faith in the Blessed Sacrament, and that it may bear witness above all to this greatest gift that Christ has given us; that of His own Body and Blood.

    Sean,

Today my family will be attending a Eucharistic Procession led by our bishop which begins at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and finishes at the Church of the Assumption. It's special to have Our Lady at the beginning and end, don't you think? I will hold the Congress in Dublin close to my heart as we adoringly process through the streets of Syracuse. Glory to God!

The Eucharist Procession was everything I had hoped for including the praying of the Holy Rosary interspersed with hymns. The moment which touched me most:

Four black boys about the age of 10 were biking by, when one of them stopped, got off his bike, and then proceeded to make the Sign of the Cross and show reverence as Bishop Cunningham walked by holding the Monstrance under the canopy. Oh, how I wish I had a camera to capture that moment! A deluge of grace released through the humility of a child! Alleluia!

Matthew 10:32 Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.

I went to a youth Eucharist congress in Boston in 2008 (I volunteered since I’m no longer a youth). It was quite incredible and the Holy Spirit was within me for quite some time after that. The Eucharistic procession through the streets of Boston was something I will never forget. The clips of 2008 are no longer online, but the link below is the procession from 2010 and it’s very similar. It’s the same route and we sang the same songs and attracted the same looks from the surprised residents and bar-hoppers that Saturday night!! The clip is not professionally done, but bear with it as it starts in the church right before we go out, then the procession about 1:45 into it, and into another church for the closing.

    Boston procession:

Part of what made that night so special was the primary speaker for the youth congress was Paul George of Adore Ministries. He gave an incredible talk, the music was moving, and it all centered around adoration. If you live in the US, you should consider looking up Adoration Ministries and Paul George, as I’m sure they still do this evangelization (adoration centered for high school & college kids) When I watch the clip below from the Univ of Houston congress, it is very similar to what we experienced in Boston.

Paul George talks are also on youtube:
