I think every practising Roman Catholic needs to read the linked article about the repercussions of what the latest directive/announcement about Holy Mass being celebrated in Saint Peters Basilica indicates. Cardinal Burke seems to be saying we all need to make our objections known to Pope Francis; Priests and people alike. He says we need to be protesting, Saint Peters is considered OUR CHURCH, not the object of control by a few senior Hierarchy. I honestly wonder if this is a diabolical assault achieved by the devil after the packamama was idolised in October 2019, and the Pope went along with it. Poor man. God help him, God help all of us. https://www.cardinalburke.com/prese...oly-mass-in-the-papal-basilica-of-saint-peter
To me, this article is saying that the document in question isn't valid. If that be the case, it isn't something we should worry about too much. Although, if it's pushed through, it really cuts to the quick. It may have priests jumping through hoops just to have Mass. We may be going "underground" quicker than we'd like.
The avalanche is growing and speeding up. Prayers for the Pope and our hierarchy, God has a plan. Praying for patience to complete his will.
Our Lord did say, when we see the Abomination that causes desolation in the temple, run for the hills; the Pacha-not-our-mama does certainly look like it’s a type of that.
When you think Communion in the hand was pushed through by slight of hand not meaning to create a pun here, but anything is possible. People who were brought up only knowing to receive Holy Communion in the hand, think us old fogies have something wrong with us. Just imagine in a few years time the latest trick will be the new norm. And another precious legacy will have gone down the pan. IMHO
Does this basically mean much fewer Masses will be being offered in St. Peter's from now on? Since priests are being told to concelebrate with others instead of offering their own Mass?
Yes, in answer to your question. At least that is how it appears to me. It will take people like Cardinal Burke and those well versed in the protocols and the rubrics to untangle this. For most of us, personally speaking anyhow it would have gone over our heads without realising the consequences until it was too late.
My Pastor in his homily today says he faxed a letter to Pope Francis about this and his objections. He said, if I get transferred someplace this week, you'll know why
Go to the thread on this forum called Pope Francis ends Latin Mass It’s the first entry on that thread. It’s a link to an article.
The link is actually the first post on this page, scroll to the top and underneath a bit of waffle from Julia there is the link you are looking for. Heavenly Hosts posted the link on another thread as well.
I don't think that the Latin Mass was banned but restricted, or on other words the squeeze is in. This is the best take on it I have heard. Thoughtful and measured.
Eugene Cardinal Pacelli (the future Pope Pius XII) in 1931 — “A day will come when the civilized world will deny its God: when the Church will doubt as Peter doubted. She will be tempted to believe that man has become God. In our churches, Christians will search in vain for the red lamp where God awaits them. Like Mary Magdalene, weeping before the empty tomb, they will ask “Where have they taken Him?”
I have already done just that "Where have they taken Him" in two Churches a few years ago. First was in Douai Abbey Woolhampton Berkshire UK. Last time I was there the Tabernacle was still just inside a side door, not in sight, around or beyond the area where Holy Mass is offered. The choir and the organ takes pride of place now. Second was at a Church called Our Lady Help of Christians in Farnborough, Hants UK. Where the Tabernacle was placed against the wall in the corner to your left as you enter the Church. I walked past it to begin with. Only God knows how many Churches might have done this. So sad pushing Jesus out of His rightful place front and centre, the heart of the home.
