https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#i...pZbBWDNvKvZccXw?projector=1&messagePartId=0.1 The above is actually well-structured, clear, and encouraging in the way it proposes we are to participate and pray the Sacred Liturgy (specifically the Novus Ordo). And yes, it is an attempt to quell objections to restrictions on the TLM as expressed in Traditionis Custodes. As pointed out by others, there is at least one ghostwriter involved (not necessarily unusual). But I do believe it is the expression of Francis' final word on the status of the TLM: a well celebrated NO should eliminate the need for co-existing Liturgies; in other words, bye-bye Latin Mass. If all Novus Ordo Masses were celebrated according to the desire of this letter, I dare say things would would be very much improved. In fact he expresses the same desire for Baptism in paragraph 13. The prayer I most treasure in the current Baptismal Rite comes just before the baptism itself; Francis refers to it specifically. However, peppered throughout this letter are admonitions to the Traditionalists. One example follows: 25. When I speak of astonishment at the paschal mystery, I do not at all intend to refer to what at times seems to me to be meant by the vague expression “sense of mystery.” Sometimes this is among the presumed chief accusations against the liturgical reform. It is said that the sense of mystery has been removed from the celebration. The astonishment or wonder of which I speak is not some sort of being overcome in the face of an obscure reality or a mysterious rite. It is, on the contrary, marveling at the fact that the salvific plan of God has been revealed in the paschal deed of Jesus (cf. Eph 1:3-14), and the power of this paschal deed continues to reach us in the celebration of the “mysteries,” of the sacraments. It is still true that the fullness of revelation has, in respect to our human finitude, an abundance that transcends us and will find its fulfillment at the end of time when the Lord will return. But if the astonishment is of the right kind, then there is no risk that the otherness of God’s presence will not be perceived, even within the closeness that the Incarnation intends. If the reform has eliminated that vague “sense of mystery,” then more than a cause for accusations, it is to its credit. Beauty, just like truth, always engenders wonder, and when these are referred to the mystery of God, they lead to adoration. Or even worse: 28. With post-modernity people feel themselves even more lost, without references of any sort, lacking in values because they have become indifferent, completely orphaned, living a fragmentation in which an horizon of meaning seems impossible. And so it is even more weighed down by the burdensome inheritance that the previous epoch left us, consisting in individualism and subjectivism (which evokes once again the Pelagian and gnostic problems). It consists also in an abstract spiritualism which contradicts human nature itself, for a human person is an incarnate spirit and therefore as such capable of symbolic action and of symbolic understanding. Anyway, there are some wonderful things expressed in this letter, but in a very real way it is written to be Pope Francis' ultimate word on the subject. As far as he is able, the TLM will be constricted and soon filed in the annals of history. Lord have Mercy!
The Eucharist is the sacrament of unity. This Pope imbued by ideological views has managed to make it the sacrament of division. It is indeed a woeful Pontificate.
How can anything well-structured, clear, and encouraging seek to attack faithful Catholic's? https://onepeterfive.com/new-papal-letter-liturgy/
A great way to Unite people is to have a common language when they gather. I thought it was very sad when I went to Italy to a tourist place where the church was so crowded during mass I could not see the altar/ priest. Neither could I understand what was going on since I didn’t speak Italian. I have no issues praying and following along during the Latin Mass. Yes it’s mostly silent but the few words said aloud/ the choir and the bells help keep me in tune with where we are during the great sacrifice. Sometimes I wonder when the mystics talk about the suppression of the Mass if they aren’t referring to the Latin Mass. I go to the Novus Ordo mass mostly but love love love the times I’m able to go to the traditional Mass. The popes stand on trying to stop the TLM makes me want to quit permanently the NO and only attend the TLM. I’m trying to remain peaceful because I know the demons are working on me to lose it but quite frankly the Pope is making me really mad
