Honestly, I think God allowed the "disaster" that followed Vatican II because the faith and fervor of the people was already on the decline before the TLM was lost. In His great wisdom, He allowed the TLM to be set aside and preserved while the world in all its ugliness was put on full display in our churches...that, over time, eyes would be opened to what modernism does to the Faith and people would feel a sense of loss and begin searching for the Sacred. Now look at the rebirth of the TLM that was preserved from the corruption of modernism. God is dusting it off and bringing it back into the light, and the faithful get to discover it as if it is new...and we are coming to Mass with renewed vigor and piety and reverence! Would we be having this true new springtime in the Church if we hadn't been deprived of the TLM and experienced the ugliness of its absence? Or would we still be taking it for granted and leaving it in droves? And now, we are facing the modernists yet again, as they attempt to take it for a 2nd time...but this time we understand the treasure we will lose and already know what the result looks like. Our hearts are on fire and we will storm Heaven with prayer and fasting to protect our beloved TLM. It will go differently this time. "Behold, I make all things new."
I agree completely. And love him or hate him, it was Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre who kept the TLM and traditional moral and spiritual theology alive and intact, despite the near universal destruction wrought by the “Spirit of Vatican II.”
Praise God for Pope Benedict whose choice to reaffirm the TLM opened the door to its resurgence. Young families have been strengthened and the thirst for holiness has intensified. I am overjoyed and pray for its continued growth. I know such an attitude is at odds with Pope Francis, but that's where the young families are migrating. Lord Jesus inflame our hearts with a love for the Sacred Mysteries. Lord have Mercy!
