Rorate Caeli, a popular website for Traditionalists, and one I visit on occasion, has presented two articles which I find deeply troubling. The first: https://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2020/04/for-church-it-is-end-of-age.html It is written by a sensible agnostic, Domenico Cacopardo, who sees the consequences of the conoravirus as dealing a potential death blow to the Church as a conduit to the Transcendent. If we faithful did not have confidence in Christ the King, it would prove to be a heart-wrenching analysis! The second article is a survey that has been submitted to bishops worldwide, requesting an update on the status of the Traditional Latin Mass in their respective diocese. The fear among Traditionalists is that when the consequent completed questionnaires are submitted by July 31st, steps will be taken to modify or eliminate the benefits of Pope Benedict's famed Motu Proprio of 2008. https://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2020/04/breaking-important-summorum-under.html Christ the King, come to our rescue!
I think that there's a theologian named Grillo who is campaigning to have the TLM banned again. He's a very close friend of Pope Francis which probably means that the Pope wants to ban the Mass but make it look like he's responding to the Holy Spirit working through Grillo and his supporters. It seems that Grillo is suggesting that keeping the TLM encourages Vatican 11 dissenters. They're men in a hurry. Must have been really on tenderhooks waiting for the result of the Pope's coronavirus test. Robert Moynihan, on his Inside the Vatican Facebook Page, has quoted something then Cardinal Ratzinger said to him years ago. Here's what he said: I recall a conversation that I had with then Cardinal Ratzinger a few years before he became pope. We were in his apartment, not far from St. Anne’s Gate. I asked the Cardinal where the greatest danger to the authentic Catholic faith lies. He looked at me directly in the eyes and then after a moment’s pause, as if he were reflecting, he said: “It is Freemasonry.” Here's a link to the Facebook page where you can read the comment made on 24th April: https://www.facebook.com/InsideTheVatican Beneath the comment there's a picture of an Austrian priest (a Vatican official) along with the Austrian Grand Master at the launch of the priest's book "Loge und Altar" (Lodge and Altar - On the Reconciliation of the Catholic Church and Regular Freemasonry). I can't access the Inside the Vatican website but for those of you who can Moynihan's Letter No. 8 should be interesting because it's about the discussion he had with Archbishop Vigano on Freemasonry in the Church. The Alta Vendita?
I had read somewhere along the way that Pope Francis was just waiting for Emeritus grandpa Benedict to die before stopping the Latin Mass.
Not to worry folks. Our Holy Mother has been preparing us for at least 150 years for this very moment. "The Church will be in eclipse." (La Salette). "The work of the devil will infiltrate into the Church". (Akita) Keeping our lamps lit is what REALLY REALLY matters. Come Lord Jesus. Maranatha.
You are absolutely right. Anything that will mitigate the trials and chastisements! But I think we have to be prepared to be stripped of everyfhing... and I mean EVERYTHING.
If he doesn't issue an outright ban he could go the route of targeting any priest who shows a preference for the TLM, especially any priest who promotes it - strike the shepherd and the flock will be scattered. Re-programming for the priests via a seminar with a Jesuit teaching them discernment and the job's done. Won't make much difference here. The Latin Mass is only available in one parish. Daily Mass is at some unearthly hour of the morning and I think it's at 11 a.m. Sundays. Parking is very limited and getting there on public transport would mean two bus rides for me and probably many people from outside the parish. This might be a good time to step up the prayers for priests offering the TLM because there could be hard times ahead for them.
If they ban the TLM, I wonder how long before the words of consecration will be changed? I fear this is coming.
I take this literally. “The only arms which will remain for you will be the rosary and the sign left by my Son”. Akita
