Yes you are right padraig, I think that they are confounded by the things they see happening and are trying to make sense of it in the best way they can.
But they are very,very poorly educated in the Catholic Faith. Nevertheless from Reports I have read from the lives of the Counter Reformation saints in places like Germany during the Protestant revolt there. Many, many Catholic Bishops and Archbishops had as much idea of what it means to be Catholic as I have to be a NASA astronaut/
I was sooo happy to watch this video from Father Holowell!!! During Covid, this was one of the priests I listened to on YouTube. He had brain cancer during that time so I was praying for him and following him. But then he disappeared . I even wrote his name in my book to pray for him. So happy!
