Even if everyone in the Church was wicked, it would still survive with Jesus teachings intact. That is what Jesus promised us. So that every generation can be given the Truth and the Sacraments as we were also given them 2000 years later and also our descendants for another 1000 years if that is God's plan. Jesus guaranteed it, He was God and was not mistaken. If people knew this and actually listened to Jesus and believed what He says, they would NEVER leave the Church and go start up their own.
Yes as St Paul teaches us there is a Spiritual Way of looking at things , the Mind of Christ and an unspiritual , human way . If we don't pray we become blind and look at things humanly This is what happened to the Protestant, so called Reformers It is what is happening in the Vatican at the moment .
We have a book on our shelves titled Bad Popes. Its an eye opener. One of the best arguments for the truth of the Catholic Church is how it has endured in spite of corruption in the hierarchy within and persecution without.
When I was at High School, at about 14, I discovered that 20 or 30 pages had been ripped out of my history book concerning these Popes. This was a Catholic High School and the book was written by a good Catholic. So I looked around and found out everyone else in the class had the exact same pages ripped out of their books too. So curious, I headed down to my local library and borrowed the book in question. The torn out pages concerned these Popes. So I went back and showed the history teacher this library book and asked him why the pages had been ripped out? His face turned red and he told me he had not done it , it had been ordered from above. This is the exact same mentality that led Bishops to lie about and cover up pervert priests and fellow pervert Bishops and Cardinals. I think people who are not themselves evil have a certain innocence when confronting evil if they have never met it before. They tend to believe it is like fairies and the Yeti and the little Green Men. They tend to think that evil and truly evil people do not really exist. This is a problem.
This happens even in this little forum whose members, I’m absolutely sure, are in their vast majority very, very good people but occasionally incapable of acknowledging evil, especially when present in high ecclesiastical circles. It doesn’t help the fact that the last two popes were true probably undeserving gifts from heaven. They spoiled us. They might’ve been part of God’s extension of mercy.
It's strange how God works. For instance I notice in Poland in the city of Kracow how very many saints cropped up there around about the same time, for instance Pope St John Paul II, St Maximillian Kolbe, St Faustina and the list of more obscure saints goes on and on. It was the same in Dublin in Ireland in the 1920's, I read a book one time that listed ten people who might be named saints. In the USA at the moment through the internet there are an amazing number of people who I think are extraordinarily holy with the Church there perhaps producing its greatest crop of saints in its history. A for instance, Cardinal Burke, Ralph Martin and Scott Hahn. I always notice amongst very young priests and nuns a really astonishing amount of truly saintly young people. Only God knows what they will turn into in terms of holiness and wisdom. It reminds me of the Irish weather. Some times all is dark and grey, then suddenly the sun shine and everything become lit up. We can see this so often in the History of the Church. For instance after the Great Roman Empire Persecution the Fathers of the Desert. After the so called Protestant, 'Reformation' , a huge crop of saints in the Counter Reformation. A lot of this can be tied down to the blood of the Martyrs watering the Church. But a lot of it to us outsiders seems just well random. As the Church turns into the False Church we were warned of, we see the True Church emerging once again. It is rather like an old ship that is sunk beneath the waves of a storm but as we watch amazed she emerges from the deep, totally renewed and vibrant and showing abundant fruits of holiness in her new saints. I love these new young saints that we see arising in our midst , they are such a joy.
It reminds me of the weeds in my garden. At first they are hard to spot because they are so small. But then I come back from camping a week later and they have grown , are easy to spot and pluck out. Evil has its own trajectory, it needs room to grow. So eventually no matter how clever it is in hiding itself and pretending to be what it is not it becomes obvious to all what it is. Pure evil. It is rather like that the World of Sodomy too. This is , 'Pride Month', and many homosexuals are actually turning against, 'Pride', becoming sickened by it's evil.
