Perhaps it is a blessing and a part of God's plan to save the Church, His Churc h
He will no longer be Shepherd of a small diocese in Texas but will be Bishop of the whole of the USA.

Also it may get his fellow Bishops riled. The goodness knows they need to get riled, they are like Rip Van Winkle

How about every serious Catholic in the US or better yet the whole world stop all financial support in protest. That might get their attention.

Definitely part of God's plan. As much as I am disgusted with these things, God always brings greater good out of adversity.. :sneaky:

Jesus said that we must render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's.

I think if we stop our donations we must be careful not to withhold that which is our moral duty to give.

I hear the Vatican is pretty well crippled because donations from the USA have pretty well dried up. Little wonder as folks don't like constant insults to themselves and their nation. Who would?

But there are donations we have a moral duty to pay.

To our own Parish for instance (if it hasn't gone off the rails).

We have a wonderful newer priest recently moved to our parish. He is young, orthodox and full of energy! Already established first Saturday devotions among other things. Chants the Mass and uses incense  Thank the Lord!

I listened to this yesterday afternoon. Very very compelling. They plan to have him on their show. Bishop Strickland's courage is an inspiration. I hope other bishops will come to his support. Perhaps for them it will be a case of "we must all stand together or hang separately"(Ben Franklin?)

Well, the cat is out of the bag. No way now to keep a low profile. Keep praying.

Powerful. The interview with Bishop Strickland should be very interesting. Father is absolutely right, church leadership is going in the direction of the world. That said I have every reason to fear that the Sacred Deposit of Faith may be challenged at this Synod, especially since it was decided that the Synod will be "private". :( Church leadership does mirror politics, someone comes along who opposes the agenda and the "witch hunt" begins. Prayers for Pope Francis, and for our bishops who are the guardians of the Sacred Deposit of Faith.

Did you hear Bishop Strickland said he will not resign?

Stunning. For once I don't know what to think.

It reminds me of St Athanasius.

But it is all incredibly sad.

Bishop Strickland was , 'requested ', not ordered to resign . So he is not being Ng disobedient in refusing such a request.

The next step , if the Vatican wants to push it is a Church Trial for severe wrong doing. The difficulty is no one has accused the good Bishop of doing anything that could result in him as being found guilty of such a thing. There are simply no grounds for a trial.

My guess is what they will do now is to declare him Schismatic and leave him to it.

It all reminds me of Archbishop Levebre , years and years ago.

Is Bishop Strickland Schismatic? No I think not. I think the heretics in the Vatican are the ones who are Schismatic. They are the ones who have left the One True Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
