It's hard to believe that the relics of St. Peter have never been publically venerated until now as we come to the end of the Year of Faith. I can't help but wonder with this new Pope who I think is spiritual and even mystical if he is not doing this to prepare us for the coming struggles. Perhaps with these relics he is reminding us of our roots and our heritage. We are one Holy, catholic, and apostolic Church founded my Jesus Christ. Jesus gave the keys to the kingdom to Peter, brash and initially a stumbling sinner who found his hope and strength in his Master. I don't know, but it all makes me wonder.
