Maybe he's doing that because he knows he hasn't much time left... (the road will be short for the king - Pedro Regis, and his own declarations on the 2nd anniversary of his pontificate).

VATICAN CITY — What should the faithful be aware of when the Vatican publishes Pope Francis’ highly anticipated summary document on the synods on the family on Friday?

According to one comment beneath the NC Register report, the New York Times already has a copy of the Exhortation. I suppose we may look to the devout Catholic staff of the NYT to explain what it means. Could "Collegiality" become the inclusive term for Protestantism? We'll find out tomorrow. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful.

I am sure the following buzz words will be in the exhortation - they are the favourite phrases of the modernists:

    inclusion

    inculturating

    contextualise

    families in different forms

    real families

    dialogue

    conscience

    accompaniment

    pastoral realism

doctrine at the service of pastoral mission

    Doctrinal unity in pastoral plurality

I doubt very much if the following will get a mention

    sin

    Confession

    Hell

    Disorder

    nuclear family

    doctrine

    conversion

    repentance

    holiness

What we will get will be a form of modernism dressed up in fancy words that can be interpreted in a number of different ways.

What we will not get is clarity.

    Begs the question:

Has the Catholic Church just become another 'social club' obsessed by membership numbers so that anyone can join and therefore has no real bearing or influence in the world and has become like an irrelevant NGO with no real power to transform culture or society. Anyone can join even though they don't agree with the membership rules.

What the Catholic Church should be doing (as commissioned by Christ) is calling people to become disciples and apostles with hearts set on fire for love of God to transform the pagan landscape that we see all around us.

This afternoon we will see in the exhortation what the Catholic Church has become.

I doubt a lot of those words will get mentioned also.
The thing is that the church needs to be updated . It needs to deal with the problems of today ,
    It needs to ...

I think St Anthony of the desert already covered this.

Anyway , the main thing this month is that we focus on and pray for small farmers.

It's rather disappointing to read the negativity above. I am filled with trust and hope that the Holy Father's exhortation will provide help for many who are wanting to come closer to God.

The announcement in the Vatican will presumably be led by Cardinal Mueller (hopefully in English!) and will be broadcast in about 3 hours time, live, at:

Sky News are reporting that the document affirms the Church's position on same sex unions. At the same time, it says that matters relating to sex are down to an individual's conscience (I suppose that's the internal forum).

While waiting for some English to be spoken at the Vatican press conference, I found a site which contained a link to the English translation of the exhortation. Here is the link:
    http://2n613ar7ekr056c3upq2s15c.wpe...p-content/uploads/2016/04/AMORIS_LAETITIA.pdf

I have spent half an hour or so reading sections of it and I find it exquisitely beautiful. It faces up to every difficulty but the beauty of Pope Francis and his spirituality shines through. Yet I am dreading seeing the attacks that the document will inevitably receive.

For me, it is about being compassionate for those who have been swallowed up in the sickness of this world. Don't judge the person, but reach out in the truth of the Gospel when those around us need love and truth. One can continue to express the Word of God to our neighbors without the tone of judgement. Time is short as we know it. I assume people in all walks of life are going to continue doing whatever they were before the exhortation of Pope Francis came out. They will continue to believe whatever they believed before his document. What perhaps should change is our response to our friends and neighbor's with a little more humility, less judgement, more compassion and a willingness to love the person, teach the person of God's love and if one has enough contact with those people who are in a situation contrary to God's love and truth, to be there for them and help them see over time where God's unchanging truth and love leads them. Perhaps a discussion breaks out at work. What is our response? To get in everyone's face and be so black and white that we stifle conversation? I think not. I hope that if I get nothing more out of the two year synod and all the bickering and posturing that took place there, that I have learned to keep calm, God's in charge, pray like never before for those who have fallen away from God's grace and don't be in-the-face judgemental towards anyone. We know what God's unchanging teachings are. The hard part is to be Christ to all.

Thanks for the link David, I am loving what I am reading. Like you I am also dreading the negativity.

I agree. I'm wondering if we could start a separate thread with this intent. Perhaps Glenn could do it since he's a moderator who has another positive thread going on the pope and he is good at keeping people focused on the subject.
