In reviewing this 190 page document, and looking up all references in the index realeted to Eucharist, i could not find the restriction on reveiving communion for pro-abortion supporters. It could be in threre, but i could not find it :(

    Fantastic :):):):):)

I remember very well what it felt like standing in St Peter's in belfast a few years back asking people to sign petitions against Abortion.I had some people snarl at me, then go into mass, receive Jesus and then snarl on the way back out :eek::rolleyes: I had to restrain my anger and bite my knuckles... God Bless their souls

I found the paragraph you are referring to, #436 :

    436. We hope that legislators, heads of government, and health professionals, conscious of the dignity of human life and of the rootedness of the family in our peoples, will defend and protect it from the abominable crimes of abortion and euthanasia; that is their responsibility. Hence, in response to government laws and provisions that are unjust in the light of faith and reason, conscientious objection should be encouraged. We must adhere to "eucharistic coherence," that is, be conscious that they cannot receive holy communion and at the same
time act with deeds or words against the commandments, particularly when abortion, euthanasia, and other grave crimes against life and family are encouraged. This responsibility weighs particularly over legislators, heads of governments, and health professionals.

Is that the same Evelyn Woodhead sped ridden course that Cheech and Chong spoke of:
"Ever since I took the Evelyn Woodhead sped ridin course, my ridin has im-PRO-v'd won-der-FULL-y. I ricommend these Evelyn Woodhed Speed Riddin Course to all my frens out there and you tell 'em that you heard it here first"...

Given the Pope's recent homilies as posted by Padraig, and this latest move, does anyone get the feeling our Pope has been gearing himself up, has now begun to draw clearly the battle lines, and has said, (in humility, of course) 'Bring it!' ?

Indeed - Cardinal Sean Brady should do the same thing in Ireland with so called Catholic politicians supporting abortion and same sex 'marriage'. The Church has become too soft in this regard.

The battle is about to begin - the Pope's fist encyclical [started by Pope Benedict] will be on faith which is also interesting as this is the Year of Faith.

It is time for the Church to lay down the law in regard to communion - of course if he does this could lead to a very large schism indeed.

I don't mean to sound mean, but they should be excommunicated, publically bells, book and candles, the works.

The same distance we keep with Mafia we should keep with this rabble.

As Servant of God, Father John Hardon SJ, said 30 year ago in retreat: "The schism in the Church has already happened, defacto".

I would keep the same distance from them as the Church does from the Mafia.

At least the Mafia has this to say for them , they don't kill the unborn children

Same distance from who, Padraig? The abortionists?

I do feel our good Pope reminded us about Jesus teaching that the world will hate us, exactly for this battle.

Here in Ireland, it's getting pretty bad.

Not just the politicians, but the Catholic School teachers who vote for them and then tell their students that it is okay to do so as well. Start by denying the teacher a contract unless they sign a fidelity statement. Then remove them from classes the first day they violate it. The proper formation of the eternal souls of children and young adults is more important than the 'freedom of conscience' of culture of death politicians and teachers.

I have to admit, I thought at first , that this humble Pope might be alittle timid (as truly humble people tend to be ) but to my surprise & joy ,he is anything but that ! He seems to take on the the pressing problems of the day ,head on. Thank God he was sent to us ! Keep him in your daily prayers ,for I am sure his enemies are all around him.

Okay, I'm still angry, but I've calmed down. My sister had me laughing as usual at the nature of my rants, but not the content, of course. ;)
