Pope Francis could be ousted in 'secret plan' by Vatican hardliners
Vatican conservatives are waging a “secret plan” to put Pope Francis under such stress that he resigns, it has been claimed.

The campaign against the Argentinian pontiff began just days after the death of his predecessor, Benedict XVI.

Despite previously stating he will resign if his health deteriorates, it was thought highly unlikely that Francis would decide to step down while Benedict was still alive to avoid there being three Popes living in the Vatican – a situation without precedent that would have embarrassed the Catholic Church.

But with Benedict’s death on December 31, resignation is now a real prospect. That has opened the way for conservatives, who oppose his stance on issues ranging from homosexuality, abortion, communion for remarried divorcees and celibacy for priests, to start moving against him.

I can't help but think this is a hit piece on orthodox clergy and wonder if it might not be the other side of the equation which would "pressure" to have PF step down. I just don't buy it for some reason, maybe its bias on my part.

    From Wikipedia;
Following the 2022 consistory, 83 of the cardinal electors had been appointed by Francis, 38 by Pope Benedict XVI, and 11 by Pope John Paul II.[1] Each of Francis' consistories has increased the number of cardinal electors from less than the set limit of 120 to a number higher than 120, as high as 132 in 2022, though never as high as the record 135 set by Pope John Paul II in 2001 and 2003.[2] Eightieth birthdays alone will reduce the number of electors to 120 on 17 September 2023,[c] but with the death of Richard Baawobr in November 2022 the number will reach 120 on 30 July 2023, 11 months after the last consistory.

Francis has shifted membership in the College of Cardinals away from Europe, making it all but certain that the conclave to choose his successor will be the first where Europeans do not account for a majority of electors. As of the conclusion of the 2022 consistory, of the 83 cardinals appointed by Francis who were eligible to participate as electors in a papal conclave, only 28 (34%) were European. Some 52% of the electors were Europeans at the 2013 conclave that elected Francis, but only 40% are Europeans as of August 2022.

I don't think this will materialize and even if it did it would probably just bring up more problems. A Pope who is forced out of the papacy unwillingly may theologically retain the seat of St. Peter. This is the exact argument the Benevacantists made for him retaining the Papacy. In any case, I don't think there are enough conservatives left to fill a teacup at this point though and they certainly don't wield power.

No, but they would hardly push to oust any pope as they know their place in authority. The media constantly frames anyone who remotely holds to traditional teaching as the boogie man to divide people.
What I am getting at is this whole article reads like gaslighting to me. Something the media especially surrounding the church is infamous for at this point.

Agree. But on the other hand Cardinal Mueller and other Cardinals were able to block PF's choice of a Cardinal for an important position recently because the candidate's views were "off"
So maybe God is working below the radar.

I have given up hope on Human Hands fixing this a long, long time ago.

My hope is in the Lord our God who made heaven and Earth.

May He be merciful to us in our hour of need.

There must be hundreds of Saints on Eart praying for this and countless thousands of angels and saints in heaven.

Mary Help of Cristians intercede for us in our hour of need

That is one beautiful thing about the One True Church is that it is, as Christ intended Herarchical in nature . We as lay people are the crew and we have the Captain of the Barque of Peter and the officers , those who stand in the Shoes of the Apostles They not us steer the ship. We can pray but not much else.

It is hard for the various Protestant Sects were there are no crews but everyone isa Captain.

I am happy enough with this, it us as the Good Lord intended it.

    I love the Serenity Prayers

Lord give me the courage to change the things that can be changed

The serenity to accept the things I cannot change

and the Wisdom to know the difference

The State of the Chuch would break your heart , it is far , far worse than it was during the Protestant Reformation.

But it us Christ's Church and I have no doubts He is getting on with fixing it

Smells of progressivist gaslighting to me.

Two wrongs will never add up to a right. However, the definition of a conservative Catholic is not a political one but is of one who remains loyal to the teaching of Christ and His Church. Someone who is of that frame of mind is most unlikely to adopt the strategy of those who prefer to follow the devil.

I'd expect these allegations to be the pretext for further oppression of Catholics and Catholicism, with the gloves now coming off with no alternative pope left to speak out.
