Meditations on The Passion of Christ.

I thought it would be a good idea if each of us shared our meditations on Christ's Passion, so that together we can help each other and build up a beautiful picture of Christ depicting what He did for us. What He did for Humanity. And without moaning (unlike us). Maybe we could continue on from where a post has finished so that we get a full picture from beginning to end, rather than it being disjointed.

    I shall start it off..

After the transfiguration, Jesus had to go into Jerusalem knowing that He indeed was to be the sacrificial lamb. How on earth did He do it? How many situations have we been in that have caused us fear and anxiety and we don't want to be there at all? Thinking about our own fears/anxieties/hurts/betrayals actually help us understand what Christ went through and so our crosses unite.

I think of lovely Jesus being numb. His body must have felt like a dead weight (people with depression suffer this) as he walked back to Jerusalem. He must of been fighting against his body all the time. His body/mind wanting to be as far away as is possible, but he kept putting one foot in front of the other remaining in The Father's Will knowing that it had to be this way. But it didn't make it any easier.

He sits on a donkey. He shared a barn with an ass on his way into this world. The humblest of all creatures and now he was going to ride on one on his way out.

At this point. If you knew you had three days left how would you spend it? Each of us will have our own ideas. For me (my children just have me) I would be asking family members that I trust to take them on. I would want to write many little notes on life's lessons, all the little talks that I would be giving them if they were there. I would want to share memories with them that they may forget. Have special words for them on their special days so that they would know that I was there and that they were loved. I would hate to leave them. Once I got my family sorted out, I would be ready. I would pray, trust God and receive The Sacrament of The Sick.

These same thoughts must of been running around Our Beloved Lord's head. He knew that he was going to die the most cruel death, yet, He wanted to make provisions for us. He knew what he was going to do, whilst there was still time, He was going to institute the Mass and command His apostles to bring Him to us in the Mass so that He is with all of us until the end of time. How amazing! He is going to die the most cruel death, and his heart and mind are set on us. We are His concern.. He then sends on two apostles to sort out the upper room etc..

When I think of Our Lord, oh my gosh! How did he do it? How did he make his body move? What were his thoughts, his fears.. Why didn't he run. Flight or fight response? He was human after all. There is always just one answer that comes back.. My love for you, was greater than my fear for myself. This statement blows me away on a daily basis. What love... What utter love,

Sadly, as He entered Jerusalem, there were screams of delight, their Lord had come back, there would be more healing, he would tell more happy teachings and correct the leaders of the Church. Oh how wonderful...

But this time, God hadn't come as healer or teacher but as sacrificial lamb and he knew that once these people were called upon, they would shout "Crucify him". How sad, for our beautiful Christ. He is faithful to everyone, so few are faithful to Him...

Maybe now someone would like to take this torch from me and continue on ....

How dare you MC. I NEVER shared a barn with Jesus. The nerve of some people.

Oh, my, what is happening here? Was this supposed to be funny? I see no humor in that statement at all. Mary's Child is trying to help us meditate on the life of Jesus, and what is said? I'm sorry, but I don't see a reason for this comment at all. I feel that it is very inappropriate and not becoming to the writer of this statement at all.

    Marys Child,
I think, I will start a journal for my children now as you say, what words of wisdom will we leave behind...
actions do speak louder than words, but still we must teach them that life is not a fairy tale,

Why wait until we get the news, for each day may in fact be our last.

Why should there be comic relief? This is an excellent exercise in meditation. I just posted a new thread. You might be interested in reading it.

Jesus told St. Faustina, that as the people were singing praises to Him, all He heard was crucify Him, crucify Him.

I can see people are in a jokey mood today, and lovely as it is, and I do appreciate humor, but I am trying to get us all to focus on Christ and what he has done for us. I would love to hear the meditations of others. I thought between us we could build up a really good picture of The Passion of Christ.

Hope has passed the torch on with her words.. Would someone else please now take the torch. :)

It is sometimes difficult to see the intention of those even adding the faces to the posts. You are so careful when you read the postings, Mary's Child. So wise! That is the grace I desire the most is wisdom and you are overflowing with it. Nice focus and you put such a positive spin on what many of us fail to see. Thank you for your contribution to this forum!

In Padraig's own words, even the Virgin Mary, when he actualy spoke to her, seemed to like him personally......because she thought he was funny.

I was just trying to lighten up the mood a little after Jimmyiz was blasted for his sense of humor. I certainly appreciate the thought of meditating on the passion during this holy week. Jimmy has posted other, very deep thoughts, on his own current reflections recently. Maybe he needed some humor at the moment.

Anyone can just look right past it if they want, and stop judging.

There is no judgment in this, but there was mocking on the part of the posters whom I quoted. All I can say is that even Jesus was mocked. When we mock someone, we also mock Jesus. Remember, what we do to others, we do to Him.

I hope you didn't feel mocked by my post. Jimmy's sense of humor was so dry, it seemed you seriously didn't know if he was joking or not. I was trying to affirm that he was definitely joking, and was calling himself the "ass". (because if he wasn't joking, I would have felt bad for MC, and you were calling it into question)

Perhaps we should close the book on this on ( I mean the misunderstand not the thread}.

I am reminded of the Tower of Babel when folks could no longer understand each other.

Anyway I am trying to build up the courage to watch the film, 'The Passion of the Christ'. From the shots of Mary I think it seems wonderful. I was especially touched by the moment when Mary put her head to the pavement and knew her son was in prison beneath her. I never thought of Jesus being in prison before, for an old ex con like me it moved deeply.

I like humor as well as the next person, but perhaps there is a time and place for everything. Let's try and keep this thread for Jesus and honor His Holy Passion. Shall we move on to the last supper? Think of Jesus, knowing all he has to go through and what he gave us at the last supper. He shows us how to be humble, the second person of the Trinity washes the feet of His disciples. It is a mideastern custom to show your trust with people by dipping your food in the same dish with whomever you are eating with, and Our Dear Lord does this even with Judas, whom He knows will betray Him.

That must be the film you posted last year Padraig. It moved me too, but I doubt I can watch the entire film.

Thank you Jon...You seem to be the only one that truly understood what I meant. Maybe it is our similar pasts and backgrounds that allow you to appreciate what I meant. Thank you for being the only person showing compassion while the others are too busy focusing on the passion here while forgetting what it really means. I was not mocking anyone.

As for some of the others, I am very hurt. Jon is right. It was a time that I needed some humor. Things have been so serious. Mother Superior here has even recommended that I look more into some humor. So to hear a couple of you kind of slap me down like a child really hurts. A sense of humor and serious meditation can co-exist. I will have to remember to leave my sense of humor out of here.

No offence Jimmy and please don't leave your sense of humor at the door of the forum when you come in. You've brightened up my day more than once with your sense of humor. Sometimes the written word does not not seem to come across as the spoken word does, with the inflections of our voice and the twinkle of our eye left out. As Abraham Lincoln said once, I joke and laugh to keep from crying. We all need humor in our life.:)
