It appears 1 Samuel 2 with Hannah's song will be part of the Responsorial Psalm on January 11th, at least, here in the US. I'm sure many know this but maybe it'd be useful for someone. Tuesday of the First Week in Ordinary Time | USCCB Also, RSVCE, 1 Samuel 2 RSVCE - Hannah’s Prayer - Hannah also prayed - Bible Gateway Hannah also prayed and said, “My heart exults in the Lord; my strength is exalted in the Lord. My mouth derides my enemies, because I rejoice in thy salvation. 2 “There is none holy like the Lord, there is none besides thee; there is no rock like our God. 3 Talk no more so very proudly, let not arrogance come from your mouth; for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. 4 The bows of the mighty are broken, but the feeble gird on strength. 5 Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread, but those who were hungry have ceased to hunger. The barren has borne seven, but she who has many children is forlorn. 6 The Lord kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up. 7 The Lord makes poor and makes rich; he brings low, he also exalts. 8 He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor. For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and on them he has set the world. 9 “He will guard the feet of his faithful ones; but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness; for not by might shall a man prevail. 10 The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; against them he will thunder in heaven. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth; he will give strength to his king, and exalt the power of his anointed.” Then, compare to the Magnificate starting at Luke 1:46. Luke 1 RSVCE - Dedication to Theophilus - Inasmuch as - Bible Gateway Multiple webpages speak of this, one with a side by side comparison but not sure who the publisher is. But "First Things" is a Christian website, I think Catholics sometimes write for them. It seems to be Ecumenical in nature. Here is one discussion: Hannah’s song, Mary’s Magnificat | David T. I am also not a Bible scholar. I guess I try to listen to the Word of God and see how it applies to my life in a concrete way. As I listened today at Mass to these readings from 1Samuel, I just though Hannah is a very holy woman full of wisdom because she brought her woes, her utter sense of despair and sadness directly to God. She spoke to God in a very personal way asking God to take care of her. She did not rely on herself or anyone else. She did not seek to blame or even be jealous of the other wife of her husband. And as I reflect on this… it’s a good example for me… maybe this whole world in this mess we are experiencing now. Bring all this darkness, worry, anxiety, and fear to God. In the end, it’s not going to be vaccines, the government, masks, etc that is the answer. It’s God who is the answer…. Whatever that answer is, it will be for our good. I think this is the message of Hannah.
