Are they just symbolic or are they actual angels? If they are actual angels, what do we know about them? Are they Seraphim (since that have six wings) or Cherubim (as the forms each one of them has are the same as the four heads of the Cherubim) or are they of a different rank in the Hierarchy of Angels? Do we know what else they do, are they perhaps the Guardians Angels of the bishoprics of the Four Evangelists? Is the Six-Wing Lion perhaps, the Guardian Angel of the Patriarchate of Alexandria?
