    We are saved.
    We are being saved.
    We will be saved.

Three verb tenses that are found in Scripture, all three of them apply to the Catholic Christian.

We are saved from sin by the grace of Christ. He died for us that we may rise with him free from slavery to sin. We are free. We are saved.

We are being saved. Each day, we have the opportunity to walk in the Holy Spirit that we may learn to walk in the footsteps of Christ and thus walk in friendship with God. We fail, we confess, we are forgiven and the grace in our life grows. In this grace we are being saved.

We will be saved. As we walk, no longer a slave to sin, we grow in grace. The grace of Christ fills us that we walk more closely in the way God set for us. If we endure and persist in this path, we will leave this earth in the friendship of God and through grace we will be saved.

May each of you grow in the grace of our Lord.

Mark 8:34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 35 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.

    Perhaps a more complete version:

Philippians 3: 10 ...that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 that if possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brethren, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but one thing I do, forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
