An interesting article from Mark Mallett on the often controversial Luisa.

I hasten to add that there's nothing with being controversial in itself. Padre Pio , the most famous mystic of recent centuries was massively controversial.

Jesus Christ was an continues to be the most controversial figure in Human history.

I tried to study Luisa but got spiritually bogged down in it all. So its great to see someone like Mark taking an interest and commenting.

At least the next time there's a dog fight over here here on MOG I will some vague idea what folks are writing about. So that's gotta be good.

    On Luisa and her Writings…
Posted on January 7, 2020 by Mark

BEFORE I continue writing on the “Gift of Living in the Divine Will,” it’s time to address some of the emails and messages questioning the orthodoxy of the writings of Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta. Some of you have said that your priests have gone so far as to declare her a heretic. It’s perhaps necessary, then, to restore your confidence in Luisa’s writings which, I assure you, are approved by the Church.

    WHO IS LUISA?

Luisa was born on April 23rd, 1865 (a Sunday which St. John Paul II later declared as the Feast Day of Divine Mercy Sunday, according to the Lord’s request in the writings of St. Faustina). She was one of five daughters who lived in the small city of Corato, Italy.[1]

From her earliest years, Luisa was afflicted by the devil who appeared to her in frightful dreams. As a result, she spent long hours praying the Rosary and invoking the protection [IMG]of the saints. It wasn’t until she became a “Daughter of Mary” that the nightmares finally ceased at the age of eleven. In the following year, Jesus began to speak interiorly to her especially after receiving Holy Communion. When she was thirteen, He appeared to her in a vision that she witnessed from the balcony of her home. There, in the street below, she saw a crowd and armed soldiers leading three prisoners; she recognized Jesus as one of them. When He arrived beneath her balcony, He raised his head and cried out: “Soul, help Me!” Deeply moved, Luisa offered herself from that day on as a victim soul in expiation for the sins of mankind.

Around the age of fourteen, Luisa began to experience visions and apparitions of Jesus and Mary along with physical sufferings. On one occasion, Jesus placed the crown of thorns upon her head causing her to lose consciousness and the ability to eat for two or three days. That developed into the mystical phenomenon whereby Luisa began to live on the Eucharist alone as her “daily bread.” Whenever she was forced under obedience by her confessor to eat, she was never able to digest the food, which came out minutes later, intact and fresh, as if it had never been eaten.

On account of her embarrassment before her family, who did not understand the cause of her sufferings, Luisa asked the Lord to conceal these trials from others. Jesus immediately granted her request by allowing her body to assume an immobile, rigid-like state that appeared almost as if she were dead. It was only when a priest made the sign[IMG] of the Cross over her body that Luisa regained her faculties. This remarkable mystical state persisted until her death in 1947—followed by a funeral that was no little affair. During that period in her life, she suffered no physical illness (until she succumbed to pneumonia at the end) and she never experienced bedsores, despite being confined to her little bed for sixty-four years.

    THE WRITINGS

During those times when she was not in ecstasy, Luisa would write down what Jesus or Our Lady dictated to her. Those revelations comprise two smaller works called The Blessed Virgin Mary in the Kingdom of the Divine Will and The Hours of the Passion, as well as 36 volumes on the three Fiats in salvation history.[2] On August 31, 1938, specific editions of the two smaller works and another of Luisa’s volumes were placed on the Church’s Index of Prohibited Books beside those of Faustina Kowalksa and Antonia Rosmini—all of which were eventually rehabilitated by the Church. Today, those works of Luisa now bear the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur and, in fact, the “condemned” editions are not even available or in print anymore, and haven’t been for a long time. Theologian Stephen Patton notes,

Every book of Luisa’s writings that is currently in print, at least in English and by the Center for the Divine Will, has been translated only from versions fully approved by the Church. —”What the Catholic Church says about Luisa Piccarreta”, luisapiccarreta.co

Thus, in 1994, when Cardinal Ratzinger formally nullified the previous condemnations of Luisa’s writings, any Catholic in the world was free to licitly read, distribute, and quote them.

[IMG]The former Archbishop of Trani, under whom discernment of the writings of Luisa falls, clearly stated in his 2012 Communication that Luisa’s writings are not heterodox:

I wish to address all those who claim that these writings contain doctrinal errors. This, to date, has never been endorsed by any pronouncement by the Holy See, nor personally by myself… these persons cause scandal to the faithful who are spiritually nourished by said writings, originating also suspicion of those of us who are zealous in the pursuit of the Cause. —Archbishop Giovanni Battista Pichierri, November 12th, 20112; danieloconnor.files.wordpress.com

In fact, Luisa’s writings—short of a declaration by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith—have as solid an approval as one could hope for. The following is a timeline of recent developments in both Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta’s Cause for Beatification as well as the developments on her writings (the following is drawn from Daniel O’Connor’s The Crown of Sanctity — On the Revelations of Jesus to Luisa Piccarreta):

    ● November 20th, 1994: Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger nullifies the previous condemnations of Luisa’s writings, allowing Archbishop Carmelo Cassati to formally open Luisa’s cause.
    ● February 2nd, 1996: Pope St. John Paul II permits the copying of Luisa’s original volumes, which up until then had been strictly reserved in the Vatican Archives.
    ● October 7th, 1997: Pope St. John Paul II beatifies Hannibal Di Francia (Luisa’s spiritual director and devoted promoter and censor of Luisa’s revelations)
    ● June 2nd & December 18th, 1997: Rev Antonio Resta and Rev. Cosimo Reho—two Church appointed theologians—submit their evaluations of Luisa’s writings to the Diocesan tribunal, affirming nothing contrary to Catholic Faith or Morals is contained therein.
    ● December 15th, 2001: with the permission of the diocese, a primary school is opened in Corato named after, and dedicated to, Luisa.
    ● May 16th, 2004: Pope St. John Paul II canonizes Hannibal Di Francia.
    ● October 29th, 2005, the diocesan tribunal and the Archbishop of Trani, Giovanni Battista Pichierri, render a positive judgment on Luisa after carefully examining all of her writings and testimony on her heroic virtue.
    ● July 24th, 2010, both Theological Censors (whose identities are secret) appointed by the Holy See give their approval to Luisa’s writings, asserting that nothing contained therein is opposed to Faith or Morals (in addition to the 1997 Diocesan theologians’ approval).
    ● April 12th, 2011, His Excellency Bishop Luigi Negri officially approves the Benedictine Daughters of the Divine Will.
    ● November 1st, 2012, the Archbishop of Trani writes a formal notice containing a rebuke of those who ‘claim [Luisa’s] writings contain doctrinal errors,’ stating that such people scandalize the faithful and preempt judgment reserved to the Holy See. This notice, furthermore, encourages the spread of the knowledge of Luisa and her writings.
    ● November 22nd, 2012, the faculty of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome who reviewed Fr. Joseph Iannuzzi’s Doctoral Dissertation defending and explaining [IMG]Luisa’s revelations [in the context of Sacred Tradition] give it unanimous approval, thereby granting its contents ecclesiastical approval authorized by the Holy See.
    ● 2013, the Imprimatur is granted to Stephen Patton’s book, A Guide to the Book of Heaven, which defends and promotes Luisa’s revelations.
    ● 2013-14, Fr. Iannuzzi’s dissertation received the accolades of almost fifty Catholic Bishops, including Cardinal Tagle.
    ● 2014: Fr Edward O’Connor, theologian and long-time professor of theology at Notre Dame University, publishes his book: Living in the Divine Will: the Grace of Luisa Piccarreta, strongly endorsing her revelations.
    ● April 2015: Maria Margarita Chavez reveals that she was miraculously healed through the intercession of Luisa eight years earlier. The Bishop of Miami (where the healing took place) responds by approving investigation into its miraculous nature.
    ● April 27th, 2015, the Archbishop of Trani writes that “the Cause of Beatification is proceeding positively… I have recommended to all that they deepen the life and the teachings of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta…”
    ● January 2016, Sun of My Will, the official biography of Luisa Piccarreta, is published by the Vatican’s own official publishing house (Libraria Editrice Vaticana). Authored by Maria Rosario Del Genio, it contains a preface by Cardinal Jose Saraiva Martins, Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, strongly endorsing Luisa and her revelations from Jesus.
    ● November 2016, the Vatican publishes the Dictionary of Mysticism, a 2,246-page volume edited by Fr. Luiggi Borriello, an Italian Carmelite, professor of theology in Rome, and “consultant to several Vatican congregations.” Luisa was given her own entry in this authoritative document.
    ● June 2017: The newly appointed Postulator for Luisa’s cause, Monsignor Paolo Rizzi, writes: “I appreciated the work [carried out thus far]… all this constitutes a solid base as a strong guarantee for a positive outcome… the Cause is now at a decisive stage along the path.”
    ● November 2018: An official Diocesan inquiry is initiated by Bishop Marchiori in Brazil into a miraculous healing of Laudir Floriano Waloski, thanks to Luisa’s intercession.

    RIGHTS… AND WRONGS

Without question, Luisa has approval from every direction—save for those critics who are either unaware of what the Church says, or ignore it. However, there exists some genuine confusion as to what can and cannot be published at this time. As you’ll see, it has nothing to do with reservations over Luisa’s theology.

In 2012, Archbishop Giovanni Picherri of Trani stated:

…it is my desire, after having heard the opinion of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, to present a typical and critical edition of the writings in order to provide the faithful with a trustworthy text of the writings of Luisa Piccarreta. So I repeat, the said writings are exclusively the property of the Archdiocese. (Letter to Bishops of October 14, 2006)

However, in late 2019, the Publishing House Gamba issued a statement on their website regarding the already [IMG]published volumes of Luisa’s writings:

We declare that the content of the 36 books is perfectly in line with the original Writings by Luisa Piccarreta, and thanks to the philological method used in its transcription and interpretation, it is to be considered a Typical and Critical Edition.

The Publishing House grants that the editing of the complete Work is faithful to the one made in the year 2000 by Andrea Magnifico – founder of the Association of the Divine Will in Sesto S. Giovanni (Milan) and holder of the right of ownership of all the Writings by Luisa Piccarreta – whose last will, handwritten, was that the Publishing House Gamba should be the House entitled “to publish and more widely diffuse the Writings by Luisa Piccarreta”. Such titles were directly inherited by sisters Taratini from Corato, Luisa’s heirs, on September 30th 1972.

Only the Publishing House Gamba is authorized to publish the Books containing the Original Writings by Luisa Piccarreta, without modifying or interpreting their contents, because only the Church can evaluate them or give explanations. —from Association of the Divine Will

It is not entirely clear, then, how the Archdiocese has asserted property rights over Luisa’s apparent heirs who claim the right (by civil law) to publish her volumes. What the Church has full rights over, of course, is the theological evaluation of the orthodoxy of Luisa’s writings and where they can be quoted (ie. in a formal ecclesial setting or not). In that regard, the need for a trustworthy edition is imperative, and arguably, already exists (according to Publishing House Gamba). Also, in 1926, the first 19 volumes of Luisa’s spiritual diary were published with the Imprimatur of Archbishop Joseph Leo and the Nihil Obstat of St. Hannibal Di Francia, the officially appointed censor of her writings.[3]

Fr. Seraphim Michalenko, vice-postulator for St. Faustina’s canonization, explained to me that, had he not intervened to clarify a bad translation of St. Faustina’s works, they might have remained condemned.[4]

So the Archbishop of Trani has been rightly concerned that nothing interfere with the Cause that has been opened for Luisa, such as bad translations or erroneous interpretations. In a letter in 2012, he stated:

I must mention the growing and unchecked flood of transcriptions, translations and publications both through print and the internet. At any rate, “seeing the delicacy of the current phase of the proceedings, any and every publication of the writings is absolutely forbidden at this time. Anyone who acts against this is disobedient and greatly harms the cause of the Servant of God” (Communication of May 30, 2008). All effort must be invested in avoiding all “leaks” of publications of any kind. —Archbishop Giovanni Battista Pichierri, November 12th, 2012; danieloconnor.files.wordpress.com
However, in a subsequent letter of April 26th, 2015, addressed to an international conference on Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta, the late Archbishop Pichierri stated that he [IMG]“received with joy the commitment that the participants declared solemnly they would take upon themselves to be more faithful to the Charism of ‘living in the Divine Will'” and that he “recommended to all that they deepen the life and the teachings of the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta in light of Holy Scripture, the Tradition, and of the Magisterium of the Church under the guidance and in obedience to their Bishops and priests” and that Bishops ought to “welcome and support such groups, assisting them to put into practice concretely the spirituality of the Divine Will.”[5]

Clearly, in order to live ‘the Charism’ and ‘deepen’ oneself in ‘the life and the teachings’ of Luisa and ‘practice concretely the spirituality of the Divine Will,’ one must have access to the messages communicated to Luisa. The very conference the Archbishop attended employed existing publications in order to instruct attendees in the Divine Will. The Diocesan sponsored Official Association of Luisa Piccarreta is regularly quoting from the volumes as are the ecclesiastically approved Benedictine Daughters of the Divine Will who cite English translations of the volumes in their public newsletters. How, then, are the faithful to square away seemingly contradictory statements from the late Archbishop, especially in light of Publishing House Gamba’s legal claims?

The obvious conclusion is that one can acquire, read and share already existing faithful texts while no further “transcriptions, translations and publications” are to be produced until the Archdiocese’s “typical and critical” edition is released. That, and one must pursue these teachings “in light of Holy Scripture, the Tradition and of the Magisterium of the Church,” as Archbishop Pichierri wisely advised.

    WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING

I had a good chuckle when Daniel O’Connor took to the podium recently at a Divine Will conference where we spoke in Texas. He offered anyone $500 if they could provide evidence of any Church mystic who has been 1) declared a Servant of God, 2) borne such mystical phenomena, and 3) whose writings had such extensive[IMG] approval, as Luisa Piccarreta does, and yet, 4) was later declared “false” by the Church. The room fell silent—and Daniel kept his $500. That’s because no such example exists. Those who declare this victim soul and her writings to constitute heresy are, I hope, speaking in ignorance. For they are simply wrong and in contradiction with the ecclesiastical authorities in this regard.

Aside from the authors already mentioned above, I would highly recommend that skeptics begin with a work such as The Crown of Sanctity — On the Revelations of Jesus to Luisa Piccarreta by Daniel O’Connor, which can be downloaded for free on Kindle or in PDF form at this link. In his usual accessible but theologically sound reasoning, Daniel provides a broad introduction to Luisa’s writings and the coming Era of Peace, as understood in Sacred Tradition, and reflected in the writings of other 20th century mystics.

I also highly recommend the works of Rev. Joseph Iannuzzi Ph.B., STB, M. Div., STL, STD, whose theology has guided and continues to guide my own writings on these subjects. The Splendor of Creation is an acclaimed theological work that beautifully summarizes the Gift of Living in the Divine Will and its future triumph and fulfillment foreshadowed by the Early Church Fathers. Many also enjoy the podcasts of Fr. Robert Young O.F.M. which you can listen to here.

For those who wish to delve into a deeper theological analysis, read The Gift of Living in the Divine Will in the Writings of Luisa Piccarreta—An Inquiry into the Early Ecumenical Councils, and into Patristic, Scholastic and Contemporary Theology. This doctoral dissertation of Rev. Iannuzzi’s bears the seals of approval of the Pontifical Gregorian University and explicates how Luisa’s writings are nothing less than a deeper unfolding of what has already been revealed in the Public Revelation of Jesus Christ and the “deposit of faith.”

…no new public revelation is to be expected before the glorious manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ. Yet even if Revelation is already complete, it has not been made completely explicit; it remains for Christian faith gradually to grasp its full significance over the course of the centuries.Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 66

Decades ago, when I first read the works of St. Louis de Montfort on the Blessed Virgin Mary, I used to underline certain passages while murmuring to myself, “That’s a heresy… there’s an error… and that’s got to be a heresy.” However, after forming myself in the Church’s teaching on Our Lady, those passages make perfect theological sense to me today. I now see some well-known Catholic apologists making the same mistake with Luisa’s writings.

In other words, if the Church declares a certain teaching or private revelation to be true that we, in turn, struggle to comprehend at the time, our response should be that of Our Lady and St. Joseph:

And they did not understand the saying which [Jesus] spoke to them… and his mother kept all these things in her heart. (Luke 2:50-51)

In that kind of humility, we create the space for Wisdom and Understanding to bring us to true Knowledge—that truth which sets us free. And Luisa’s writings carry that Word which promises to set all of creation free…[6]

Who could ever destroy the truth—that Father [St.] Di Francia has been the pioneer in making known the Kingdom of My Will—and that only death kept him from bringing the publication to completion? Indeed, when this great work becomes known, his name and his memory will be full of glory and splendor, and he will be recognized as the prime mover in this work, which is so great in Heaven and on earth. Indeed, why is there a battle going on? And why is almost everyone yearning for victory—the victory of holding back the writings on My Divine Fiat? —Jesus to Luisa, “Nine Choirs of the Children of the Divine Will”, from newsletter of the Center for the Divine Will (January 2020)

Mark had a lot information here, but seems to have talked himself into a direction where he wanted to go.

He does mention, to his credit, that the Ordinary forbade unapproved translations. This was done in an OFFICIAL act of his authority. But then he mentions a letter to a conference and infers that he then officially reversed course. That is incorrect.

That is like a Catholic claiming that contraception and homosexuality are fine because the pope said so on a plane or private audience. These are private acts which hold no binding authority.

Why did the bishop put a hold on the publication of writings to begin with? Why where the writings out in the Index? Why even have the typical edition before dissemination? The answer is obvious. The translations now used are open to misinterpretation.

There are scholars in Theology (google Father Most and Servant of God Fr. Hardin) who take issue with the current translations. To present one side to make it seem like these translations have approval is a bit dishonest.

There’s more to say in response and I plan to write a response to his article hopefully by the end of the week.

The fact remains: the last official word is with the Ordinary of Trani. By his decree the translations currently in circulation should NOT be promoted. This is due to troublesome translations which can be interpreted wrongly. We are to await the typical edition.

I keep meaning to read up more but never had the time.

It was the same with Divine Mercy years ago. Now I love it all.

I think God reserves certain graces for certain times in our Lives and we have to wait for the fruit to ripen. Someone on the forum sent me the most beautiful Leather bound edition of St Faustina's Diary years ago and I have just rediscovered it. Delightful.

Also my father left me the most gorgeous large edition of , 'The Imitation of Christ' which I find wonderful . So much Wisdom.

Another little book I have rediscovered is Our Lady's Little Blue Book.

They are messages from Our Lady to a Mother of a large family in England. She is a stigmatic and lives on the Eucharist alone.

What you do is you open it at random and you get a message for Our Lady specially for you, Very good especially if you have a question. Well for years when I opened it , it always always, always opened to the exact same message pointing to an area of sin in my life. Just what I needed to hear.

Now let me open it at random and see if there is a message for the forum.

    Fun, fun, fun.:):):)

'My child, My Immaculate Heart bleeds for men. It wants to wrap all of My poor in its furnace! Pray for my intentions!

    How to use the Book
This diary is not meant to be read from front to back. This diary is very precious. It is our tangible link with our Blessed Mother in Heaven. The way to use this diary is as Our Lady has said, “pray before reading My messages.” Say a pray, any prayer of your choice, then open the diary at random. Read the “Pearl” on the even numbered page. That is the main point of the message that Our Lady wishes to impart. Find the particular text in the dated message on the opposite page and read the message through for that date. This message is Our Lady’s personal message to you.

I read some of Luisa's writings a few years ago, didn't connect with them, and had no desire to try them out again.

Fast forward to December 2019. After Christmas I started listening to an audio book on the Era of Peace, not realizing it would contain a lot of passages from Luisa's writing. Whenever I heard the words spoken by Jesus to Luisa, they felt like they were burning into my heart and soul. This led me to buying a book on the Divine Will. In similar fashion, my soul felt like it was burning with love every time I read the words of Jesus.

I could say a lot more, but for brevity's sake, on New Year's eve I prayed, "Jesus, I trust in You. Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. I give you my will and in return I ask for only Your Will." And, woosh.

Nothing has been the same since. That's why I changed my mood under my avatar to "AMAZED".

Nonetheless, I was praying early this morning, relaying my concerns to Jesus about getting led astray because I'm quite aware of the controversy. I asked for His help in knowing if I should trust what Luisa wrote and what is happening to me in the Divine Will. It wasn't more than ten minutes later when I went online and padraig's positive post on Luisa was the first thing that came up on my screen. Sweet!

All I keep hearing in prayer lately is Our Lady saying over and over again is to pray for my intentions. I just have the strongest feeling that it is very important now to pray for Our lady's intentions.

I am trying to take The Divine Will in bit by bit. I have been watching Father Iannuzzi on Youtube and listening to him on Radio Maria in my car.
It seems to me to tie into the coming Illumination and Era of Peace. Maybe someone can answer this...does it seem that those committed to God after the Illumination and Miracle will then be given the gift of Living in the Divine Will as the refuge to endure the Chastisement?

I was open to learn, as I believe Luisa's writings need clarification at times by those learned within the gift of the divine will. I also came to understand the naysayers will try and distort or refuse to dig into the revelations of the volumes, rather then leave what they refuse to understand alone. So, my hope is that all who have hearts open to understanding of God"s messenger for this great gift reach out to those whom are studied in the gift and not the naysayers. It is truly a gift for our times going into the era of peace, the fulfillment of the prayer our Lord taught us to repeat over the past 2000 year. The prayer of his kingdom to come where his will shall be done in earth as it is in heaven.

The gift is for everyone, the only one who says no is the soul. God is love and His gifts run full and never deplete, but souls say no. It’s not for me, I’m to big of a sinner or they need this to be approved or the church to say this or whatever, souls deny the gift it’s not God who says no to any of His gifts.

That is why the first volume to read is volume 2, in it you read its your purity of intention. God Himself says this is the greatest gift ever given and He is your teacher. Trust and simplicity let’s the seeds inside you to fecund and spread. For those who have commented on this board and other boards that are waiting on the church are a perfect example of a soul saying no. No matter what the souls, who have said yes, have written on these forums regarding this incredible gift to love God On the scale of God and all souls, certain people always have to be right and try to condemn the writings.

It wouldn’t matter if Bishops, who have approved all the writings, Priests, nuns lay people with theology degrees or even someone with no education and is the simplest soul ever try’s to tell these souls who say no not to fear read the Passion or read the Blue Book or read this or that, their no is bigger. Jesus tells us in the writings mans will is the most evil thing there is. Not Satan, Satan just tempts you souls say yes.

As for chastisement, God doesn’t chastise himself, when a soul says yes and fuses their Will with the Divine Will they will not be chastised. All souls do suffer because Jesus himself suffered. Yes there is a difference between suffering and chastisements. Souls that live in the kingdom of God as heirs to the kingdom suffer as God suffers.

This is a perfect example of why we should wait for the typical edition with notes...

Our will is not evil, much less more evil than the prince of darkness himself.

Too many people of good will are tripped up by these messages that they interpret themselves - erroneously; and don’t even realize that their interpretation is in error.

    Yes Mary you are correct,

In the current translation, Jesus does indeed say it is the greatest gift, greater than all the sacraments and even greater than the Blessed Eucharist!

In fact in the current translation, if someone lives in the DW , Jesus states that they do not need any of the Catholic churches sacraments!

Jesus' words from paragraph 5 below.

my Will encloses all the Sacraments and their effects; therefore, abandon yourself completely in my Will, make It your own, and you will receive the effects of absolution, or of anything else which you might be denied. So, I recommend to you - do not waste time,

Five paragraphs from the current book of heaven

    November 5, 1923

I was feeling oppressed because of the privation of my sweet Jesus, with the addition that the confessor - because I had not had the trust to open up with him, and because I was bad - had denied me absolution. So, having received Holy Communion, I abandoned myself in the arms of my most sweet Jesus, and I said to Him: ‘My Love, help me - do not abandon me. You know in what a state I find myself because of your privation; and still, instead of help, creatures add pains upon pains. Without You, I have no one else – either with You, or on my own, crying over my hard lot of having lost You. This should push You more not to leave me alone - to at least keep company with a poor abandoned one who lives dying in her hard exile. Therefore, You who are the Highest Priest, give me the absolution, tell me that you forgive the sins that are in my soul- let me hear your most sweet voice that gives me life and forgiveness.’ (Paragraph 1)

Now, while I was pouring out my pain with Jesus, He made Himself seen in my interior, and the sacramental veils formed as though a mirror, and Jesus was inside of it - alive and real. And my sweet Jesus told me: “My daughter, this mirror is the accidents of the bread which keep Me imprisoned within them. I form my Life in the host, but the host does not give Me anything - not one affection, not a heartbeat, not the littlest ‘I love you.’It is as though dead for Me. I remain alone, without a shadow of requital, and therefore my love is almost impatient to go out, to shatter this glass, descending into hearts in order to find in them that requital which the host does not know how to give Me, nor can it do so. But do you know where I find my true requital? In the soul who lives in my Will. As I descend into her heart, immediately I consume the accidents of the host, because I know that more noble accidents, more dear to Me, are ready to imprison Me, so as not to let Me go out of that heart, which will give Me, not only life within itself– but life for life. I will not be alone, but with my most faithful company. We will be two hearts palpitating together, we will love united, our desires will be one. So, I remain in her, and there I live Life, alive and real, just as I do in the Most Holy Sacrament. But do you know what these accidents are, which I find in the soul who does my Will? They are her acts done in my Volition which, more than accidents, lay themselves around Me and imprison Me, but inside a noble and divine prison, not a dark one, because her acts done in my Will, more than sun, illuminate her and warm her. Oh! how happy I feel to form my real Life in her, because I feel as if I were inside my Celestial Royal Palace. Look at Me inside your heart - how happy I am, how I delight and feel the purest joys.” (paragraph 2)

And I: ‘My beloved Jesus, isn’t what you are telling something new and singular - that in one who lives in your Will You form your real Life? Isn’t it rather the mystical Life which You form in the hearts which possess your Grace?’ And Jesus: “No, no, it is not mystical Life, as for those who possess my Grace but do not live with their acts identified within my Volition - they do not have sufficient material to form the accidents in order to imprison Me. It would be as if the priest did not have the host and wanted to pronounce the words of the consecration. He could say them, but would say them to the empty space - my Sacramental Life would certainly not have existence. This is how I am in the hearts which, though they may possess my Grace, do not live completely in my Will. I am in them by Grace, but not in reality.” And I: ‘My love, but how can it be that You can live really in the soul who lives in your Will?’ And Jesus: “My daughter, do I perhaps not live in the sacramental host, alive and real, in Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity? And why do I live in the host in Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity? Because there is not a will that opposes Mine. If I found in the host a will opposed to Mine, I would form neither real nor perennial Life in it. This is also the reason why the sacramental accidents are consumed when creatures receive Me – because I do not find a human will united with Me in such a way as to want to lose its will in order to acquire Mine, but I find a will that wants to act, that wants do things on its own. So I make my little visit, and I leave. On the other hand, for one who lives in my Will, my Volition and hers are one. And if I do this in the host, how much more can I do it in her; more so, since I find a heartbeat, an affection, my return and my interest - which I do not find in the host. To the soul who lives in my Will, my real Life within her is necessary; otherwise, how could she live in my Volition? ( paragraph 3)

Ah! you do not want to understand that the sanctity of living in my Will is a sanctity completely different from the other sanctities. Except for the crosses, the mortifications, the necessary acts of life which, done in my Will, embellish the soul more, it is nothing other than the life of the Blessed in Heaven who, because they live in my Will, by virtue of It, have Me within each one of them, as if I were for each one alone - alive and real - and not mystically, but really dwelling within them. And just as this could not be called life of Heaven if they did not have Me within them as their own life, and their happiness would be neither complete nor perfect if even a tiny particle of my Life were missing in them; in the same way, for one who lives in my Will, my Will would be neither full nor perfect in her, because my real Life, which emits this Will, would be missing. It is true that these are all prodigies of my love – even more, the prodigy of prodigies, which my Will has kept within Itself until now, and which It now wants to issue in order to achieve the primary purpose of the creation of man. Therefore, my first real Life I want to form in you.” (paragraph 4)

On hearing this, I said: ‘Ah! my Love, Jesus; yet, I feel so bad because of all these contrasts - and You know it. It is true that this serves me to abandon myself more into your arms, and to ask from You what they do not give me; but in spite of this, I feel a breath of disturbance that troubles the peace of my soul. And you are saying that You want to form your real Life in me? Oh, how far I am from this!’ And Jesus, again: “Daughter, do not worry about this. What I want is that you put nothing of your own, and that you obey as much as you can. It is known that all other sanctities - that is, those of obedience and of other virtues - are not exempt from pettiness, disturbance, conflicts and waste of time, which prevent the forming of a beautiful sun; at the most, they form a little star. Only the sanctity of my Will is exempt from these miseries. And besides, my Will encloses all the Sacraments and their effects; therefore, abandon yourself completely in my Will, make It your own, and you will receive the effects of the absolution, or of anything else which you might be denied. So, I recommend to you - do not waste time, because by wasting time you come to hamper my real Life, which I am forming in you.” ( paragraph 5)

It seems that going by the above current translations, reception of the sacrament of Confession, reception of Holy Communion and even Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Eucharist is "a waste of time"!
Our Lady lamented at one of her apparition....... that less and less importance is being given to the Blessed Sacrament.

    Food for thought.

The Eucharist a "waste of time"? I'm no expert, but my bet is on reader misinterpretation and/or a bad translation.

Luisa lived on the Eucharist. It was her only Food for sixty years. You can't get a much larger testament the Eucharist is NOT a waste of time than that.
