Angelic Hierarchy according to St. Thomas Aquinas there are nine choirs of angels - in rank order: Seraphim Cherubim Thrones Dominions Virtues Powers Principalities Archangels Angels We know the names of three angels from the Principaities - Archangels Gabriel, Michael and Raphael. We need to cultivate friendship with our guardian angel and thank him for being with us each and every day. Let us each today pray one Hail Mary in honour of our Guardian angel. I always pray the Guardian angel prayer and prayer to St Michael the Archangel every day. I have been in my present job for 30 years - I travel every working day by car over bad roads - they are hilly, bendy, twisty, dangerous back roads of Co Down. I worked out recently that I have done so many miles to work I could have travelled 11 times around the earth. I have never had an accident (apart from one tiny bump in a town I pass through & have lost two wing mirrors from lorries/vans passing over the white lines) in 30 years driving on those terrible roads. May the angels continue to protect me as I enter my final year of full-time work.
Like you Garabandal I have a daily devotion to my guarding angel and the saint Michael prayer for probably over 2 decades now, because the Lord has imprinted on my soul that these devotions are important, so I never miss these prayers. About 3 years ago I was inspired to pray the guardian angel prayer to all of my families Guardian Angels (as I realised they are not prayed to by most of my family) So each morning after I say my guarding Angel prayer, I individually name my husband, my nine children, all the inlaws, and all my grandchildren and pray the guardian angel prayer to their guardian angels; this has evolved over time and now I daily pray a third lot of guardian angel prayers for my brothers and sisters their spouses and their children and I have now added all my friends and foes to this third list of names invoking their guarding angel. The Lord has been so merciful to me, by allowing me to attend Friday, confession, mass, adoration, rosary, divine mercy chaplet and stations of the cross for many years at my local church and about 2 weeks ago I had a type of spiritual encounter. At the end of the stations of the cross, just before we pray the angelus, I was standing at the 14th station and with my souls eye, I could see and feel the presence of many beings who were crowded around me, initially I thought it may be the holy souls (as it was November) but I was given a light to understand that it was saints and angels, not knowing why I was experiencing this I soon put it out of my mind. I returned home and when I looked at my video feed on the computer there was a talk by a priest on the St Michael Chaplet. The promises of St Michael are amazing for those that say this chaplet daily, one of the promise is that each time you receive the Blessed Eucharist in Holy Communion you will have an angel from each of the nine choirs attend with you as you receive Jesus. How amazing! As I watched this video I thought, I know that I have this chaplet in a book somewhere and I also realised that I have a strange set of beads somewhere that have the nine lots of one Our fathers and Three hail Marys (but I have never prayed them) so I looked and immediately I found the chaplet in the Pieta booklet and then also found the chaplet beads in my second purse that I carry in my bag. To me this was a sign and since that day I have been praying this chaplet to St Michael each day. Thank you Lord for your great wisdom, which takes into account my terminal ignorance. Your love reveals your desires for me so gently. Thank you Lord! Divine Mercy of Jesus I need Thee and I trust in Thee. Ps Another one of St Michaels promises to those that daily recite the chaplet of St Michael is.... "He promised his and that of all the angels continual assistance through life, and additionally after death, deliverance from purgatory for themselves and their relatives! I personally believe that today, we are more in need of St Michael and his Heavenly Hosts intersession than ever before. This chaplet doesn't take long! Say it daily and have a member from each Choir of angels as your escorts, when you receive the Humble and Loving God of the Universe in the Most Blessed and Sublime Sacrament of the Altar.
Wow me too! Have had a daily relationship with my angel since 2001 and also said the Saint Michael prayer daily for over 20 years! Must be a prompting by our angels!
I pray the Guardian Angel and St. Michael prayers every night with my children, as my mother did with me. I remember her always praying to the angels of all of our extended family as well, especially our young cousins.
When I was a little girl I was encouraged by one of the young nuns that taught me (a Daughter of Charity) to name my Guardian Angel— so I named him James. I prayed and talked to him by that name all my life until a few years ago when I was told by more than one person that I didn’t have authority over my Guardian Angel to name him. I try not to pray to him by the name I gave him but a 60 year habit is hard to break. I read an article that said I should refer to him as Guardian Dear. I mean no disrespect to him but deep down I will always think of him as James.
Scriptures reveal that God only created two liturgical beings - angels and humans. We can learn from the angels who praise God constantly. May we do likewise.
We know from Catholic Teachings that we are..if we do get to heaven..going to wind up in one of the nine Choirs of angels. From reading the lives of the Saints I know of several who knew which if the choirs of angels they would join after death. Everyone I ever read mentioned they would wind up with the Seraphim...the Highest of all the Nine Choirs, which are of the Holy Spirit , on fire with love, the Angels of the Holy Spirit. Which being Saints, I suppose you might expect.St Margaret Mary Alocoque for instance was one such. The basis for their being nine choirs is the Blessed Trinity each choir relating to one of the Three Persons of the Trinity and each of the three grouping 3x3 relating to three persons . For instance: Seraphim...Holy Spirit Thrones ..Jesus Christ Cherubim...The Father ..and so on down the nine. I am very, very fond of my Guardian Angels. I suspect he is Irish, he is very relaxed and with a very good sense of humour. He needs to be with myself. The goodness knows I have kept him busy down the years. Bombs, bullets, fires, near drownings, fights, knives, you name it... When we die our angel with be our next door neighbour so it is good to get to know them as close friends now. I am so glad to have angel who often makes me laugh out loud. We are pals. I wouldn't have it any other way. When I go to sleep in the afternoons before work I often play, 'Hymn of the Cherubim' , by Tchaikovsky, then I am already in Heaven.
I pray St Michael's chaplet daily as well. Get amazing help from the angels always and their comfort too.
I remember a post on the forum that said that we can pray to our guardian angel asking him to intercede with the guardian angel of another person related to the grace that we ask for so much. someone remembers that; I was looking for this post.
Padre Pio I believe recommended this practice--sending your angel to the angel of someone else for help or for prayer or to make peace. I've had real and impressive results with this prayer.
I have sent my guardian Angel to the angel of another person as well. I just prayed that way recently , as a matter of fact.
When I was young, when my parents had arguments/fights, I would send my guardian angel to theirs to assist with their reconciliation and peace. I really could tell that it helped!
What a wonderful and inspired thing to do, Purple flower! God has certainly blessed you with great knowledge, over your short life (relative to mine). May He continue to inspire you and may you lead many souls to Him. Amen
They say never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly My driving history tells me that my guardian angel is more the scenic flyer
I have to smile as recently I have had this prompting every morning to pray to St Michael and my guardian angel. I love my guardian angel, he has has been through a lot with me and when I’m following Gods will I “see” him in glorious robe smiling and shining brightly. Unfortunately most times I “see” him in a red robe, his lowered head shaking. I tell him he needs to kick me more often
Regarding the popular "biblically accurate angels" meme. Is it OK to think that some ranks of angels look like wheels with eyes+wings, or have 4 animal heads, etc? Or is it correct to imagine they look like chubby babies ,like in renassaince paintings? Maybe its better to avoid thinking about they look like, and more think about what they DO?
I think whenever they appear in various forms, it's symbolic and for the benefit of us humans. They are pure spirits. How can they truly look like wheels, animals, or chubby babies?
