I imagine others here are already familiar with this intriguing story but I don't recall hearing about it before. The story concerns Sister Rita Montella, an Italian nun born near Naples in 1920, who entered the convent in 1940 and remained there until her death in 1992. It is said that over the course of her life, from a young age, she was in close touch with Padre Pio in bilocation and is sometimes referred to as his little daughter. She too had many spiritual gifts, including bilocation, and confided during a conversation in late 1981 that she had, in this way, helped to stop the attempt on the Pope's life. Below is an article from 2021, telling the story. https://newdailycompass.com/en/how-i-diverted-the-shots-against-john-paul-ii
is bilocation a real double-place presence (in flesh and bone) or a sort of soul-presence\inmaterial body identical to the real one? has this ever been declared or studied in any way?
PRAYER FOR THE INTERCESSION OF SISTER RITA OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: Oh Lord, our God, You have called Sister Rita of the Holy Spirit to the full realization of her baptismal consecration by dedicating herself completely to You in the contemplative Augustinian life in order to find God and help the Church. You, Oh, Father, have made shine forth through her with the charisms You have given her the face of Christ, making Him visible among men and women of our time. With Your help she has taken on herself the troubles of her brothers by serving Christ suffering in her body and becoming through humble prayer a sign and witness to Your Love. Hear our prayer: deign to glorify her now on earth and through her intercession grant us the grace that we ask with faith. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be. -With ecclesiastical approbation Diocese of St. Miniato For more information and to report graces received: Monastero Santa Cristina Via Viucciola 1 56029 Santa Croce sull’Arno, (PI) Italy Email: info@suorritamontella.it
Great question and I would answer of the cuff that no that it is a kind of virtual presence. Just thinking of Christ's presence in the eucharist which is a real but sacramental presence. In his natural mode Jesus of course is in heaven and is not moved about or sitting bored in tabernacles. It boggles the mind and even the angels are in awe of the manner of Christ's presence in the eucharist.
