There is no limit to the evil of ISIL. Only the power of God and the Rosary can contain them. God grant Fr Tom eternal rest and may he pray for us. What a terrible death. He is surely with Mother Angelica in the Church Triumphant.

    Very sad,
    Very shocking,
    Very sobering.

Lord God, Oh Blessed Trinity, send Thy Holy Angels now, to combat and defeat the evil that took this precious Priest from us; and may the sacrifice of his life point all to Our Dearest Lords Holy Sacrifice and draw many souls to you. Amen

This is horrible news. I pray that father Tom's blood and sacrifice join Our Lord's by sowing seeds of conversion among the possessed people who did this to him. My rosary today for this intention too.

May the blood of the Holy martyrs speed the conversion of all infidels.

Prayer of St. Francis Xavier for the Conversion of the Infidels
Eternal God, Creator of all things, remember that Thou alone didst create the souls of infidels, framing them to Thine own image and likeness; behold, O Lord, how, to Thy dishonor, hell is daily replenished with them. Remember, O Lord, Thine only Son, Jesus Christ, Who suffered for them, most bountifully shedding His precious blood. Suffer not, O Lord, Thy Son and our Lord to be any longer despised by infidels. But, rather, being appeased by the entreaties and prayers of the elect, the saints, and of the Church, the most blessed spouse of Thy Son; be mindful of Thy mercy, yet forgetful of their idolatry and infidelity. Cause all to know Him Whom Thou didst send, Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord, Who is our health, life, and resurrection, through Whom we are freed and saved, to Whom be all glory forever. Amen.

I know 2 things from this latest atrocity. First, Evil exists and satan continues to enter the hearts of men to commit acts of hate. But two and more importantly, love also exists - in fact perfect love - that of God for his creatures and every so often one of his creatures emulates perfect love and sacrifice. This is one of those cases and because of his sacrifice and willingness to die for the love of Christ, Fr. Tom is in Paradise today. He is another modern Saint of martyrdom. Fr. Tom intercede for us - for I'm afraid my faith is not nearly as strong as yours. Through the Cross comes Life and Resurrection!

There is nothing worthwhile I can add to the wise comments made before me. I am confident that brave Father Tom was assisted mightily by Our Lord in his Imitation and is now a saint in Heaven. May his blood and that of so many modern martyrs convert multitudes to the Faith.

I know we are called to respond to this too with Love, but I'm not experiencing that Grace right now. Just extreme sadness and a desire to get on a plane

I almost don't want to believe this until further proof, like a video, which I am sure is being put together. But if true, Fr. Tom, pray for us and thank you for your perfect example.

Love is not an emotion, but a desire for someone's salvation. It is understandable to be angry at the perpetrators of such monstrous acts, and take your place in the queue far behind raging me. Still, I know that you will pray far more strongly than I ever could that these criminals will repent. Indeed, I have read that, thanks to such prayers as yours, quite a few have repented.

Please God. My goodness, this is a turbulent Easter Monday.

I hate to throw a fly in the ointment but only two sources are saying this as of now....If this were truth, wouldn't the Vatican be obliged to tell the Catholic community? The sources are a bit sketchy....now Brietbart picked it up....but Drudge and the UK trash paper? I hope this is a rumor or misquote....although, I believe sadly and horrifically it may be true.

Keep on praying that Fr. Tom is still alive and will be spared a brutal death. Although it is never confirmed, I think that the Church pays ransom where there's a hope of prisoners being freed, and the Islamic terrorists have shown that their love of money trumps their adherence to their faith, even the jihadi aspect of that faith.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose
There used to be religious orders whose sole purpose was to get donations to buy the freedom of Christians who had been captured by the Moors. I wonder if they've all been disbanded.

it could be possible that the vatican simply does not know. I don't think we will know unless isis releases a video, which I am sure they would if they did it. but it will probably take a few days to produce the video. I pray it is not true and won't fully believe it to be true unless a video is released or the vatican confirms it.

Well, now that the Vatican Bank has been cleaned up and has outside auditors, the fate of captives probably depends on the resources of their diocese/religious order. May our Heavenly Father send the Holy Spirit to sustain Fr. Tom during this terrible ordeal, and let us all pray that his persecutors will have a change of heart and set him free.

Talking about the more things change, etc., looking at the French Government flailing about trying to cope with Islamic violence I can't help but think of how their forebears administered "justice" in the name of liberty, equality and fraternity. Then again, that's probably more a case of what goes around comes around.
